  • Piltover Spell Decks

Piltover & Zaun does suffer from the fact that spells in Runeterra are relatively expensive compared to units. I agree that this makes the early game a pain against aggressive decks.

However, I think the combo potential in the mid-late game somewhat makes up for it. In my most recent Exploration trial, I got to 6 wins with an Ezreal/Lux spell deck. It was an absolute blast to play, too. This might be harder to pull off in high-skill ranked matches, but I'd caution against overreacting at this point.

Seriously, though, Trueshot Barrage is pretty badly underpowered. Reduce its cost to 6 and it turns into an OK card. Maybe.

  • anyone hyped for the wc3 remaster?

Now the meta score is at 0.9 by over 4k reviews. Seriously, it can't be that bad, can it?

  • Hearthstone's January Season is Ending Soon! Get Your Shoring Up Card Back

    Quote From Avalon

Quite lively card back, like the one we'll get next season.

I don't think it will ever be my default one (in my opinion, the card back that will overshadow Lightforged has yet to come), but I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Now that we are on the topic, which card back do you guys use? Do you have a favorite or do you just use the "random" one?

I always use the random one. Brings me back sometime.. :)

Will definitely use this one in my Wild Shaman Quest Murloc Deck. It just fits perfectly.

As for the rest of the decks, will probably still use the random one.

  • Cheap Shot + Preparation bug

Well i was not aware of that. Seems like the sort of nerf that should be announced with one of those big notifications on game start up. Anyway, thanks for the info.

  • Lightforged

In my opinion one of the coolest card backs ever released.

  • The Elusive problem and solutions

    Quote From Kinxil

Yeh I can't help but think LoR removal are outrageously pricey especially when units can attack the turn they're being played (given you got attack token so it feel a bit less unfair)

While it does contribute to the problem of dealing with elusives, I generally like the overall higher cost of spells in Runeterra compared to other CCGs. I prefer units having a bit more staying power instead of being insta-killed by a spell that costs less than the unit iself. In my mind, units which benefit the most from the lack of cheap removal - like elusives and permanent value generators (think Dawnspeakers) - should be dealt with via cost increases / stat decreases instead.

As an off-topic question: When I mark a card via (runecard), how can I make it show up as a tooltip (on mouse-over)?

It is funny you bring this up, frenzy. This is actually available on the development copy of the site and it'll roll out in the next update.

    Made me laugh :D :D :D

(just shout if you want me to market some more up-coming feature launches ;p)

  • Are we OK with decks having no champions!?

    Quote From Kinxil

I don't mind as long as it's not systematic to the best decks, otherwise it would mean champions are not impactful enough on a general manner.

A valid point. As long as there are just one or two specific popular decks in the metagame that work without champions, it doesn't prove anything regarding champions' power as a whole. If such decks become widespread, it's a different matter.

  • Cheap Shot + Preparation bug

As DoubleSummon said, it is now a rule for echo cards. I am pretty sure it doesn't affect the original card though, so for future reference you will want to use Prep on the first use of Cheap Shot instead of the last.

  • Non-Mana Deny Nerf Idea

    Quote From Bystekhilcar

I'm actually not wholly against the idea of increasing its mana cost, personally. [...]

Making it more expensive would throw off the cost-benefit analysis a little, since at a baseline level countering a 4 mana spell with a 3 mana one is a 'win'.?

I'm with you there. I will make the claim that you can't always rely on countering a high-cost spell with your Deny: Sometimes you have to 'waste' it on a low-level card because you're struggling to survive / your opponent outplayed you, and sometimes their deck may simply not contain any high-cost non-burst spells. So I don't think a cost of 5 is justified quite yet; 4 seems like a very reasonable compromise to me. Test it out from there and see if it's still to strong.

  • Galakrond's Awakening Chapter 2 - Hearthstone Decks to Test Your New Cards

oh I did exactly that (already tried it before the adventure), but it's just incredibly slow.

Basically you need to snowball ahead and then burn them down or you need to Elemental Evocation an Animated Avalanche early.

If you don't manage that you're basically just playing a subpar aggro deck with mostly vanillas

It also hurts that there'S no efficient board clear to pair with (unless you wanna put in Shooting Star with Cosmic Anomaly)

  • So, how long is Deny gonna stay at 3 mana?

How about Deny is cast by selected friendly minion?

If you eliminate the minion with another burst/fast spell the deny is denied.

  • Mike Donais Leaves the Hearthstone Team, Remains at Blizzard

After the Warcraft 3 debacle I think it is time we stopped having hope that things are ok inside Blizz.

    It's a shitshow......Obviously.

Wow fucked, Diablo fucked, Warcraft fucked. Are they really betting it all on Overwatch and HS? and that other thing that I never hear anyone talk about.

Shame but looks like the Blizzard we all knew and grew up with is dead.

    F in chat for Blizzard.

  • Cheap Shot + Preparation bug

    Nope, it's not a bug.

Echo cards can't cost less than 1. it's a nerf that happened some months ago to address SN1P-SN4P OTK and Sound the Bells! OTKs.

  • Cheap Shot + Preparation bug

    https://imgur.com/cUymtgi.png

I played Cheap Shot twice then ran out of mana, so i played Preparation to be able to cast another echo copy of Cheap Shot. As you can see all my spells cost 2 less, EXCEPT the echo copy of Cheap Shot that costs 1 less.

Echo copies always cost the same as the "default" version of the card, and there are no on board modifiers that would somehow change the mana cost of Cheap Shot. It costed 2, i played Prep, it costed 1. That is a bug.

  • Pizza's Legend Zoolock

I watched his stream yesterday for a little bit. Seems to be a cool guy. Deck seams to do well also.

  • So, how long is Deny gonna stay at 3 mana?

Counters already exist in different shape or form outside of Deny sometimes with lower cost and usage outside of spell play.

    It doesn't counter burst.

It does have a niche to counter unit skills and untargeted + unconditional spells which usually are greed, and counters to greed are healthy.

But sure if you fill your deck with burst and only 1 greedy slow/fast spell guess which one will get denied (whichever the cost of Deny)

Deny is fine as it is.
