I always wonder what a collector will aim for once his collection is complete...throw all away and start collecting again? Is the fun part owning the collection or the collecting part? As with Hearthstone, your collection can only be complete until the next expansion hits, which is 3 times a year now. So I guess it must be the collecting itself that gives you the kick. But this is more or less what we all do in HS, we collect cards by opening packs and crafting cards we need in a deck.

  • New Mage Hero - The Amazing Reno

    Quote From Neoguli

Hmn... do I always remain specitcal? Maybe, but I remain slightly optimistic for Reno. I think Mage decks might run him mainly for his mass removal, be it either functioning like Vanish or Plague of Death, but probably the latter, as the usual balance for Hero cards is 2 mana for the Hero Power, 1 mana for 5 Armor and the rest for the Battlecry - this one mentions a Passive HP, so it could account 9 Mana for Plague and 1 for 5 Armor.

Plot twist - Battlecry gives all minions stealth instead killing them :P

To be honest, I'm not sure exactly how much money I've spent on Hearthstone, and I'm afraid of even attempting to add it up. Entirely too much to be perfectly honest. I'm at least at the point now that I can buy the pre-orders with each new expansion and just get the rest with gold/dust most of the time.

Of course, my biggest problem is I'm a compulsive collector. I have the Pokemon syndrome: I gotta catch 'em all. I dream of having a complete collection of all the cards available, and I've made huge progress toward that. I was mainly looking for power level of sets so that I could focus my collecting on one particular to build out. The bad part is I really haven't played much in Wild. Just really want the option, and like I mentioned previously, I really want a complete collection.

You should focus on decks rather than expansions.

Sets are nearly irrelevant, from a powerlevel point of view, as only few cards per set are powerful enough to surface the Wild meta.

Current t1, t2, t3 decks contain cards from nearly any set.

If you still want to focus on sets instead of decks, there is no real priority, just go for your guts feelings, especially if your ultimate goal is a complete collection anyway.

Im really curious how much money you poured into hearthstone to reach where you are right now. Can you give me a rough amount, if its not too personal.

But basically if you wanted the best expansions to focus on, you already have it. Ungoro - Kobolds has and still is the highest level of power sets of expansions hearthstone has ever shot out. The only other expansion not listed by yourself with comparable power would be Mean Streets of Gadgetzan.

Since you already have all the adventures, then its just down to specific legendaries from here on. It really depends on what you want to accomplish in wild.

From my experience complete collection is roughly ~150 USD per expansion. With two preorders like the last expansions (90 USD and 50 USD) and a 20 USD offers which contains the hero skins you can have complete expansion, dusting extra cards and keeping golden card.

is there a reason why there isn't a copy of Baleful Banker in this list?

From what I can see, if undertakah gets silence or transformed, you've only the prelate to save your day.

Why are you trying to get a collection rather than building towards decks you want to play?

Pick a few decks you're interested in and work towards getting whatever cards you still need for those decks. Your wild collection will expand naturally. Realistically, wild decks only require a handful of cards from each expansion anyway.

  • Hearthstone Devs Speak! Iksar on Nerfing Cards, Buffing Cards and Power Level

Honestly the 'not being deleted from the game' is a very recent change in balance philosophy. Many decks in the past were deleted from the game, despite them being incredibly weak to current decks/strats nowadays (including Patron Warrior). While these current nerfs not deleting the decks still time around the fear that a reversal in design philosophy (again) presents a still very real concern. Who is really to say that constant nerfs wouldn't just bring such a philosophy reversal back sooner?

You're also glossing over the fact that T5 doesn't just nerf due to power level, they have, at times (especially recently) nerfed due to popularity as well. If you get enough players voting with their wallets until they get decks that they are bored with gutted then it wouldn't matter if you had 25 viable decks. Some players will still b*&*( and whine if they dare have to see an old deck still queueing up against them. Take a look at the old Raging Worgen Warrior of old. Complete semi-meme deck that got gutted despite never even seeing the light of tier 1 status, ever. Look at Quest Rogue, nerfed multiple times not because it was always some broken tier 0 deck but simply because it acted as scissors to paper (control) and stayed or resurfaced in the meta multiple times.

It's easy to say Galakrond Shaman, or warrior, PW, Face Hunter, DR Rogue, etc aren't deleted now, but who is to really confidently say that eventually they won't get the Quest Rogue or Raging Worgen treatment later (most likely due to standard players that for some reason can't stomache established metas for a season)?

EDIT: Concerning laziness I still stand by that point. It is the easy route to turn a few value switches and nerf something than it is to create new mechanics that counter old synergies. HS has something to learn from MtG in that aspect. So often counter synergies have either been created in new sets against old plays or communities have have actually worked hard to create them on their own with their current cards. Since when have we looked at tier 1 status decks as actual 'tier 0' decks that must be dealt with with near instant nerfs? Allow the community to counter strategies once in a while instead of going the easy route each time.

Thanks mate :) Don't worry, I'm working on trying to fill a backlog again. Still catching up after taking the holiday break after the busy school year, lol

  • Hearthstone Devs Speak! Iksar on Nerfing Cards, Buffing Cards and Power Level

HSReplays is currently tracking 25 decks with win-rates at or above 50% - each of the nerfed decks (Galakrond Shaman, Pirate Warrior, Deathrattle Rogue and Galakrond Zoo) remain in this group. A lot of folks complaining about the nerfs are acting as if Blizzard deleted those decks from the game. They didn't. If the purported "laziness" of the design team consistently produces meta-games with over two dozen viable decks, including all the nerfed decks, perhaps Blizzard should consider hiring a bunch of even lazier bastards to design their game . . .

Hey guys, just wanted a little help on building out my Wild Collection. Just some background, I started out shortly after Boomsday launched and have worked feverishly to build as large a collection as time and money allows. Thus far, I have a full collection of Standard and most of the cards from the Kobolds, Frozen Throne, and Un'Goro expansions. I've also bought and completed all the old adventures that rewarded cards and just finished crafting all the Hall of Fame cards. I'm really wanting to fill out my collection in Wild and was wondering which expansion I should focus on next to try to maximize the number of high quality decks I can put together for Wild. Ultimately, I want to complete a full collection of both Wild and Standard, but that is a long term goal. Right now I just want to build the most powerful collection for the short term. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Scion of Ruin is still busted as hell. They should never have printed a card that has a battlecry that summons two copies of itself at any Mana cost. Literally just got stomped by a warrior who played over ten copies of this damn card by abusing Barista Lynchen, Dragon Breeder, and War Master Voone. Even managing to run him to fatigue by the skin of my teeth (with a crap load of healing) he still had another 7 copies in his hand. I just wish to God I'd been running Rogue so I could have used Flik Skyshiv against the damn thing. Absolutely freaking ridiculous that crap like this still gets by in this broken ass game.

  • Hearthstone Devs Speak! Iksar on Nerfing Cards, Buffing Cards and Power Level

I think it's fair to ask at this point why certain strats and decks are even put on the table and supposedly tested if you're going to nerf most of the non-memes anyway. Why waste development time, as well as player time/money if there is most likely going to be nerfs to said involved cards anyway?

  • Hearthstone Devs Speak! Iksar on Nerfing Cards, Buffing Cards and Power Level

Frequent nerfs to me seems like a priortizing of appeasing to a bored minority over having consistency in the game (as far as knowing you can craft a favored deck without having a deck potentially dismantled). I really don't like the idea of changing things just for the sake of changing things. I'm not saying every nerf was unnecessary, but the massive amount of nerfs does reek of what other posters have mentioned; nerfing things just because some players are bored after a month and want the popular meta decks completely shifted around.

Nerfing is also lazy game design. Instead of intentionally creating counter strategies, or better yet having the community counter previous strategies just demand nerfs. There's nothing to be solved in this scenario, no critical thinking at all. You don't like something just nerf it.

Seems like just a giant cycle of building hype with new sets/cards/strats, break those new strats, then make new strats and break them again when the next set comes out.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

I'm super salty they deleted shaman from standard.  Gala shaman was so fun, was it so hard to balance it at a normal power level that they had to just kill it?

but Rogue is fine I guess? fucking KEKW.  whatever,  switched to highlander rogue and im 13-3

  • Is a collection manager ever coming?

    Quote From Zwane

I must be missing something...to find out how much it costs to craft? Just import deck code and you see missing cards and you can calculate? How much time does that take? less than a minute?

Just makes things a bit easier really. If you’re looking at something like the old wallet Warrior the numbers do start to get rather large unless you already have basically the entire deck. And besides, if it’s a deck you’re close to being able to make, you can quickly check how much more you need before you can craft the whole thing
