Y'all talking about nerfs, but I'm syced to see the Selfless Hero change. I love that card in Battlegrounds, but it always makes me super annoyed when my Divine Shield minions get hit by its Deathrattle, especially when it's golden.
I just played one casual game and played this b.s. druid deck that got over 2500 amor. Why does that exist? Anyways, I plan on trying it out more because I like older priest cards better than the new ones. Right now I'm rank 9 3 stars in wild. I usually test a deck in casual first before going to ranked. I hope it works for me.
This makes flame imp and the 1 2/2 much more strong since sometimes you were a little scared to play them turn one against shaman. I think the change is a fair one when you compare it to arcane shot/holy smite and glacial shard.
not a question of being dominant. some nerfs are done cause the cards can do unfair stuff. Alex is an amazing card, i love it and was scared that the nerf would be something like the dragons she generates cost 1. this way u can play her to do her broken stuff but not super highroll. the unfair feelings comes from a mirror play which is already skewed cause u get the amalgam and the feary while ur opponent gets ysera etc. imagine getting a super medium roll while ur opponent gets to play DragonQueen Alex 2 times in the same turn
glad the nerf didnt kill the card just made it fair and u can still do her broken stuff
While I do agree in general cards shouldn’t be able to generate themselves, it does make sense why they’d focus more on this case specifically. The others are generally a lot slower if they generate themselves, either being not that many stats on their own, or taking multiple turns to continue playing them. Alexstrasza though gives you a much bigger board for basically no cost (the only cost really being the potential to mill if you generate too many free cards).
This card is just the extreme compared to the others.
35 new cards! They've probably got some playtesting that shows these cards may still be problematic.
My exact point: maybe these nerfs don't address just the current meta (we'll have other cards in 15 days, so it wouldn't be a smart choice), but probably even the one we'll have after Galakrond's Awakening adventure.
It does change in another way: until now Toki added a minion to the table (if your current tavern allows you to choose from 4 minions, Toki's hero power will give you 4 other minions plus an additional one), but from now on the higher minion will be counted towards the number of choices you can get based on the tavern you're currently in.
Her Hero Power right now refreshes the Tavern and then spawns another minion from a higher tier. I'm assuming this change will simply replace one of the minions upon refresh with that higher tier.
You'll get less minions to choose from, but I think the reduction in mana to use it is worth it.
1. I'm glad Blizz is addressing the meta more frequently - looking back at that "class usage" graph that was posted last week and you just see how quickly a meta can become stale if not outright oppressive (looking at you, Shamanstone). HOWEVER, I agree with the other posters here that the new adventure is out in 2 weeks with 35 new cards - it would have made more sense to see how/if those impacted the meta before another round of nerfs imo.
2. Scion of Ruin should have gone to 5 mana OR had stats reduced, maybe Dragon's Pack go up 1 mana as well. I get why it didn't and obviously Blizz has data I don't but honestly of all these recent cards with conditional requirements, how many are EVER played WITHOUT hitting those requirements? I play pure Dragon Galakrond Warrior (gotta get SOME use out of my War Master Voone...) and Galakrond Shaman a lot so definitely benefits me that those cars are OP, but I can say I have never played either of them without the double invoke condition met. Ditto with the Boomsday Omega cards, etc. So I get wanting the card to be - at least theoretically - playable without those conditions met, but lets all be real here that simply does not happen virtually at all, so why act like it does?
I partly like this and partly don't, now there is a lot of indecision about whether or not I should disenchant the card or hold onto it. But at the same time it is nice to see more balanced nerfs.
ALWAYS dust a nerfed card! If the card turns out to be bad, you got the extra dust. If the card stays viable you can craft it again without any dust deficit. So there is no way you lose something, when you dust nerfed cards - you can only benefit. :)
Yes, it gave pirate warriors too much card advantage. An aggro deck should have strong tempo in the early game, but have bad card draw in the later game, but ancharrr allowed pirate warriors to get strong tempo and strong card draw which was too much.
I agree, these constant nerfs do make it hard to build a deck and keep it for a while. But if you don't do constant nerfs then the meta will get stale and everybody will hate the game, there is a little gray area and I think team 5 is just trying to find the right number of nerfs in between expansions.
I think the best thing you can do right now it not focus so much on getting the best deck and being competitive. Or you could focus only on 5-6 classes and dust the stuff you get for the others, this is what I do and it has made it a little easier to get good decks for the classes that I play.
They could, but the fact 3 out of the 5 Galakrond packages were concerning (even after one of them got nerfed!), and a fourth is solid, suggests there was a fundamental mis-evaluation of the power level. This is even more telling since dragon decks are so rare despite there being a lot of strong cards for them.

Card Nerf - Invocation of Frost
I foresee the end of Galakrond Shaman as a tier 1 deck. This makes some of the most powerful combos (think: Zentimo) much harder to do now.
Card Nerf - Dragonqueen Alexstrasza
Because that Deathwing/Maly woudnt be a 0 mana?
Card Nerf - Necrium Apothecary
a fair and needed change. theres not much to add.
Card Nerf - Invocation of Frost
Glacial Shard says thanks.

The only nerf here that seems off to me is Alexstrasza, were any highlander decks at all dominant?

I think they reverted it to the original, where it just switches one of the minions to a higher tier, does not add an extra minion.

All 3 Galakrond-related Shaman cards nerfed and with Mogu Fleshshaper, Faceless Corruptor and Sludge Slurper we have 6 cards from the Shaman deck nerfed in a month. World record?

We'd be waiting another two weeks to see what effect those cards would have, which feels too long, especially with how many cards they nerfed.

Anyone care to enlighten me on whether the Toki hero power change is just a mana reduction or does it change in another way too?
Card Nerf - Dragonqueen Alexstrasza
I understand the reasoning behind it, but this nerf is just BAD.
RNG, is, by definition, a highroll thing. You can restrict or widen the pool (Dragons), but how is Dragonqueen Alexstrasza not eligible?
Why then not preventing draconic lackey from generating, say, Malygos, Aspect of Magic or Deathwing, Mad Aspect?
If they really wanted to fix this, they should have extended the nerf to ANY cards that CAN generate themselves.
Having it on just one card feels incredibly clumsy, and absolutely counterintuitive with how RNG has ALWAYS worked in HS.
Card Nerf - Scion of Ruin
Fair, could even be 5 let's face it 9/6 in stats is disgusting on turn 3/4
