  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Card Balance Changes in Patch 25.0 - Theotar, the Mad Duke and Ice Revenant Hit

Unlike in the past, none of these posts included the actual complete patch notes. I had to go off site to find those.

  • Infinity Stones in MARVEL SNAP - What They Do and Best Synergies

Maybe, but you need something in other locations too and you fill them with stones mostly. But even if you get some support in the future it won't be viable. You already have tons of cards which can counter it - Cable, Moon Knight, Mantis, Yondu, Baron Mordo, Black Bolt, Black Widow, even Korg can fck it up, not to mention some locations. In Marvel Snap you have tons of Theotars so I think that overcomplicated combo decks never will be viable.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Card Balance Changes in Patch 25.0 - Theotar, the Mad Duke and Ice Revenant Hit

@Avalon: Not sure if this is the correct place to make my next remark, but I think it is as good as any.

It has become clear that with every patch, specific articles are written for each related game mode which is quite nice and very logical. However, this time around (with the 25.0 patch) I noticed that by taking such an approach sometimes not all bug fixes and game improvements get listed on OoC, especially the general ones like these:

    • [Collection] Fixed a bug where the “Complete My Deck” feature did not work with Prince Renathal decks.
    • [Progression] Fixed a bug where the level 100 Rewards Track Hero Skin could not be selected.
    • [Progression] Fixed a bug where players who reached the level 400 Rewards Track cap would no longer receive quests.

Of course, not all patch notes are as equally relevant to all of us, but I personally think it would be a nice rule to at least list them all on this wonderful site. Perhaps I am too early and these will still get listed in a yet to be released article. That is why I waited to post this remark. By the way, my intention was not to impose nor criticize, but purely meant as a constructive observation.

  • If you ever run into Ego as a location and you have sentinel in your deck...

(Btw, who makes the decisions between Agatha and Ego?)

That's a question players have been asking since beta. The answer is kind of a let down: it doesn't matter who makes decisions, because they both play cards randomly. As far as I can tell there's only one potential difference: we know for sure that Agatha prioritizes playing herself if she can, whereas I'm not sure if Ego has any preference for which cards to play (except apparently Sentinel).

  • Infinity Stones in MARVEL SNAP - What They Do and Best Synergies

I don't think there's enough data to say that. Yes, although increasing size is awful, most of the stones give you draw. And the effects are quite strong and flexible enough to adapt and take different game plans depending of the match.

As much as we can't say it'll be broken and be a T0 card, we can't also confirm it'll be bad. Having that much of resources available and a power slam of 18 points (which can potentially increase to 28 in certain locations) is not something weak. The only thing we require is a way of reducing the disadvantage that the deck size gives you. If it's not viable now, it'll be viable at some point of the game with the right support.

  • So I'm really close to entering pool 3. What will happen?

You can get matched against some players that have pool 3 cards already depending on how close you are to it. Part of the matchmaking takes into account your current collection level and applies a range around it (which can pull in people with one or two pool 3 cards easily enough)

I personally stayed at the top end of pool 2 for awhile and probably every 3rd game or so I would see a pool 3 card.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Card Balance Changes in Patch 25.0 - Theotar, the Mad Duke and Ice Revenant Hit

Theres too many non-interactible, auto win cards that sit in peoples hands that actually way more frustrating to play against that having your op win condition removed.

However Theotar stealing the card is probably too rough, I would have gone with a neutral version of the rogue one that puts the card back into there deck

So it;'s not gone forever just delayed.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Card Balance Changes in Patch 25.0 - Theotar, the Mad Duke and Ice Revenant Hit

I really like that Theotar, the Mad Duke gets nerfed again, as it's so toxic to play against. But this doesn't solve the problem. Theotar, the Mad Duke sees play mainly because Sire Denathrius is so strong and in almost every deck. (Of course its cheap cost also helps) And it will remain a must-include in a lot of decks even at 6 mana because of Sire Denathrius. I'm baffled that they looked at Renethal for potential nerfs and keep nerfing Theotar, but they never consider Denathrius nerfs for some reason.

The only thing this mana nerf actually fixes is the fact that you can't steal your opponents Theotar, the Mad Duke and play it immediately if your on 10 mana. Which tbh does give you 1 turn to play something important before they steal it from you. (Unless it's Sire Denathrius and your <10 mana)

Have i mentioned Sire Denathrius yet? xD

Edit: Not saying Theotar shouldn't have been nerfed, he definately deserved it. But i'm surprised they didn't nerf Denathrius alongside it.

  • Infinity Stones in MARVEL SNAP - What They Do and Best Synergies

Thanos is bad. Increasing size of your deck by 50% is terrible. There is reason why ppl play Chavez in many decks - better chance to draw other cards. Stones aren't that powerful (and you want to remove them anyway) and playing them all isn't that rewarding. Infinaut has bigger body and decks with him are more viable. Maybe if Purple Stone would have better effect, for example: "If u played all 6 stones win the game" then maybe you could risk to play Thanos.

  • Two New In-Game Events Coming to Hearthstone in the Near Future - March of the Lich King Launch and a Hint of Winter Veil

I think they've explained it before, that if you already own the signature card being offered for free then you get a chance at rerolling it to another one. Dont know how that works yet, because this expansion will literally be the first time its implemented.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Card Balance Changes in Patch 25.0 - Theotar, the Mad Duke and Ice Revenant Hit

I generally like Theotar, it is a good idea to have disruption against combos, that being said this card sucks to play against.

Also after nerfing him twice, not sure why they didn't just touch the effect to make it less consistent. If it only offered two choices instead of three I feel it would be a better tap on this card then plus 1 mana. Just feels like choice of 3 in at most a ten card hand is way to reliable.

  • Two New In-Game Events Coming to Hearthstone in the Near Future - March of the Lich King Launch and a Hint of Winter Veil

Huh, so the only class-signature card were getting (for free) is a mage card. Okay so this will make people really salty about the favoritism mage keeps getting with diamond cards and now also signature cards. And i feel like there probably are a couple rare class-cards that probably would look even better as signature cards. (Personally, i would have loved a signature card for For Quel'Thalas!, Eversong Portal OR Beetlemancy... Maybe From De Other Side as well. The art would look amazing.)

Despite this, i still like that were getting a bunch of non-legendary signature cards. I already knew this was confirmed (forgot when), but actually seeing this is quite nice. And that were getting a bunch of FREE signature cards is really cool! Really helps people getting used to signature cards. Also are these signature cards in the MoTLK signature card pool? If so, then getting these now will make it so you probably pull a better signature card if your lucky enough to pull one. (Pretty sure they are duplicate protected?)

The fact that the Winters Veil event is still coming is also really nice. This means that this event is just a bonus, which is cool! Can't complain really about free stuff!

  • Two New In-Game Events Coming to Hearthstone in the Near Future - March of the Lich King Launch and a Hint of Winter Veil

    Never expected that.

I wonder if non-legendary cards will get diamond version.

  • Chromie To Become the Newest Recruit for Hearthstone Mercenaries With March of the Lich King - Bring On Time Tinkering!

So in case anyone doesn't know wow lore, Chromie is actually a bronze dragon like Anachronos and Nozdormu. Pity they didn't add any dragon synergy, even to the equipment. Guess there's too much existing synergy so they just went a different direction.

Only been playing for 2 days with starter cards and was just cleaning up.

Ranking is easy when you can back out of games you know you'll lose and double down on games you know you'll win.

You'll fly through ranked even when you're new to the game with this deck.

    Ftp 4 the win

Wish it was a fighter, though the character might make more sense as a caster.

  • Is Captain merica better than Wolfbane ?

Cap does not give four extra Power when the location is full; you might be including him in your calculation. Comparing the two, this is what they provide:

    1. By themselves: 3/1 Wolfsbane vs 3/3 Cap (Cap is better by 2)
    2. Them and a buddy: 3/3 Wolfsbane vs 3/3 +1 Cap (Cap is better by 1)
    3. Them and two others: 3/5 Wolfsbane vs 3/3 +2 Cap (equal)
    4. Full location: 3/7 Wolfsbane vs 3/3 +3 Cap (Wolf is better by 1)

So the fuller the location, the more Wolfsbane starts to overtake Captain America. This is ignoring outside factors like Kamar Taj or an Odin reactivating Wolfsbane's On Reveal effect, a situation where she would greatly outshine Cap. Conversely, you could have Onslaught or his Citadel boosting Cap above what Wolfsbane can provide. Snap does a fairly good job of providing each card an opportunity to shine compared to the others; neither is inherently better than the other. It just depends on the situation and your deck.

  • Is Captain merica better than Wolfbane ?

If you play her on a full location, she's a 3/7. Cap will be a 3/3 giving you an extra 4 power. So in theory they're equal, but cap doesn't need anyone around to get his bonus, he gets it no matter what. And if he's played alone, he's bigger than Rahne.

Though she can do bounce shenennigans. But I think that's the only time she's better?

  • So I'm really close to entering pool 3. What will happen?

When I unlock my final card. (Which is iceman because the game hated me), until I unlock my first pool 3 card, will I be matched against pool 3 players with my pool 2 cards?

  • If you ever run into Ego as a location and you have sentinel in your deck...

    Quote From sto650

If Ego comes up as a location, pretty sure it means the opponent has Agatha in the deck. I don't think it can even spawn if there is no Agatha in the game.

It's super rare for it to ever come up, in any case.

I took my first account up to 2200+ collection level, and I saw Ego less than 5 times total.

No, I watched 6 Agatha games, and Ego was in none of them. Its appearance is not related to the cards in your deck. It appeared because I played Scarlet Witch. (That girl has been ruining my games lately.)

I saw him last week and the opponent didn't have Agatha either. (Btw, who makes the decisions between Agatha and Ego?)
