  • To Craft, or not to Craft...

    Quote From Hydrafrog

Then there is Hunter, which to be fair, the only deck that I can play with that class is the Deathrattle Hunter.  I'm a combo player and occasionally dabble with aggro.  I have the Mech Hunter, but I hate playing it.  Anyone that plays these classes and/or the quests, please let me know if they are worth crafting or if there are other cards that work better

If you hate Mech Hunter, you'll probably hate the mech/beast versions of Quest Hunter that go face, face, and more face.  However, I've been having fun with a Control-style Secret Quest in Standard and I think you could make it pretty spicy for Wild with the addition of all the extra secrets, Cloaked Huntress, Professor Putricide, Lesser Emerald Spellstone, Mad Scientist, and of course Yogg ;D

  • Summoning Highkeeper Ra with EVERY Class!

Always enjoyed your decks over on HP, welcome to OOC!

  • [Game] Deck Doctor Challenge!

    Challenge #13 - Quest Warrior (FS) -

And this week's Firebat selection is TheNiddo's Quest Warrior which he described as, "Bombs punish decks digging for answers/provide you with another win con. Quest gives you more gas against controlly decks. Mulligan quest when needed."

Playing a lot of weapons doesn't sound like the most fun, but if I have the quest (unsure) I'll definitely give this a shot for the memes.  One thing I'll probably try is to remove some of the actual weapons in favor of Upgrade!, Weapons Project, and Harrison Jones.  In this build I may go with a standard Control Warrior and resolve myself to always mulligan the Quest unless I draw perfectly.  Not sure really, this is pretty unknown terrority for me so I'll probably make some bad decisions like trying a pirate build as well ;D

Certain cards have go to go. I'm so sick of seeing them over, and over, and over again. Like some god damn recurring nightmare.

  • [Game] Deck Doctor Challenge!

I missed last week's Deck Doctor, but here's the Rezz Priest Firebat chose:

If you want to try it out the deck codes are:

    Original: AAECAa0GBK8E1gqggAOYmwMN+wGhAuUE0wrXCoL3ApeHA+aIA5mbA6ylA6+lA7alA5mpAwA=

    Doctored: AAECAa0GCKUJ7QXTpQPXCralA9YKrwSggAML0gqspQP3DPIM5QTl9wLSpQP2B/sMgvcCr6UDAA==

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - SMOrcy Dorks, Holy Leisure, and Quintessential Moonfare

Subject 9 is Great not only because of draw, but massively thinning your deck. I feel you can get away with out Zul'jin if you can close the game without him as back up.

  • Even After Nerfs...

Is there really enough for the mech package to work?

  • [Game] Deck Doctor Challenge!

Finally have a little time off so let's catch-up on all things Deck Doctor!

I was missing too many pieces from the Octosari Druid, but I tested out the Questlander Shammy and it was indeed a lot of fun.  I found it to be more challenging than expected as you frequently run into hand size issues late in the game once you're doubling up on Zephrys wishes.  I didn't have the most success with it (went from R15 to R13 and got stuck there), but that was almost certainly due to my misplays.  I will say that bouncing Zephrys more than once (especially with Shudderwock in waiting) was usually overkill so I think the better strategy is to double up on cards and just play the standard Quest deck.  The changes I settled on were very similar to the ones Nightcrawler suggested upon first viewing the deck, haha.  Ended up with:

-1 Mutate (tried out the Mogu Fleshaper inclusion but it felt too inconsistent)
    -1 Baleful Banker
    -1 Earthen Might
-1 Brightwing (pains me how bad this card feels to play because I really wanted to like it)
    -1 Farseer
    -1 Weaponized Wasp
    -1 Witchwood Piper
-1 Swampqueen Hagatha (another one that I really wanted to like because I unpacked a golden copy, but it always feels underwhelming given the tempo loss)

    +1 Blazing Invocation
    +1 Far Sight
+1 Lightning Storm (probably the weakest inclusion)
+1 MCT (felt fantastic with the double battlecry)
+1 Chief Inspector (was facing a lot of Secret Hunters at the time)
+1 Seaforium Bomber (liked the potential for Highlander disruption after Quest completion/with the extra bomb from Shudderwock, but I didn't get to play it too often so I'm not sure if it was a good inclusion)
    +1 Zilliax
    +1 Walking Fountain

It's a few weeks old, but I ended up stealing some ideas from this episode of Omni/Stone which I thought was pretty entertaining overall:

And I doubt you need this, but I found Firebat's breakdown of Warrior (pre-nerf) pretty cool too:

  • Budget Treant Token Druid

The second Overflow is interesting.  It gives you another Garden Gnome/ Anubisath Defender activator and more card draw so it makes sense for late game match-ups.

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - SMOrcy Dorks, Holy Leisure, and Quintessential Moonfare

I appreciate the added insights to the deck!

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - SMOrcy Dorks, Holy Leisure, and Quintessential Moonfare

Subject 9 draws between 3 and 5 very specific cards to thin your deck which will help you find your most powerful cards more easily, so of the two I would say it is more important to the Secret Highlander specifically. Zul'jin is your late-game value card, replaying all of your secrets and other spells gives you the last bit of minions + damage to get past a heavy control deck or some small healing against Aggro. But if you play hunter, you will ultimately play Zul'jin in every deck so take that into account when crafting. Both will improve your winrate, but you should be winning without them too.

Get off your soap box.  Jesus.  As he said, you're entitled to your opinion, but it's a game website for christ sake.  Relax.  Also, a deck doesn't need to run Leeroy to be aggro FWIW.

Are you sure i am the one who should relax?

i politely argued on point (which is about this being a guide, not an opinion in a thread, do you know the difference? It sounds like you don't).

You should relax instead, and answer whole points, not just bits of it, and telling who should get off their soap boxes. Because you are not entitled to that. FWIW.

PS: just in case it's not obvious, i am saying all this exclusively to push and raise the already good quality of OOC content as much as possible. Improvement through (constructive) critique, ever heard of that? I couldn't care less of changing what people call or define their decks, or what is their personal opinion. ;)

I just opened my last Packs and all in all I got 6 legendarys, of which 2 are golden, off 63 Packs. Solid rate I guess. Very happy with this expansion so far. :)

Edit: Just spent another 1,5K gold and opened Zephrys. Feelsgoodman

i miss the days when hearthstone was a two player game.  now its simply two players playing solitaire.

i will be quitting when the next expansion drops.

    Sad to hear :(

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - SMOrcy Dorks, Holy Leisure, and Quintessential Moonfare

I've beat the Highlander Hunter with a variation of the wall priest listed, so yeah, it's a good pairing of rock vs. paper. I'm liking the stats I've seen on HSreplay on Quest Wall Priest against some other long-play decks like warrior and Cyclone Mage.

    Subs to suggest:

Arcane Dynamo for more Mass Res or Plague of Death; the former is essential to beating Control or Bomb Warrior while the latter works against more problematic board makers like Conjurer's Mages or deathrattle-reliant paladins, and the big spell add extra oomph for a King Phaoris turn as well. Don't worry about the 3/4 that might get rezzed; you already have King Phaoris and friends as well as Psychopomps screwing up the pool, and your late-game hero power can turn small things into big threats.

High Inquisitor Whitemaneis situational and can be as dead as holding Archivist Elysiana in your opening hand for an entire game, but when you can mass rez a Convincing Infiltrator or reborn taunts that you just sacrificed in your turn as well as toss in a big body and possibly add a hero power buff to it or another card, it can break an opponent to concede. Also, nobody expects it because it's so rarely seen (or owned -- lucky me for landing a golden one; soooo pretttty).

Seance is worth having for [Hearthstone Card (Catarina Muerte) Not Found] getting a second act, Archmage Vargoth refilling your hand if you happen to have multiple minions up, or an opponent's valuable card like Archivist Elysiana or Siamat.

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - SMOrcy Dorks, Holy Leisure, and Quintessential Moonfare

As always, these posts are a nice read. Thank you!

I am playing a variant of Highlander Hunter, but I am finding difficulty in winning since I do not have Subject 9 and Zul'jin. Do you think it is worth crafting? Or these cards are not a game changer and I am just bad :D

  • Shaman Quest a Problem ?

    Quote From FieselFitz
    Quote From Thonson

The only quest deck with a 50+% win rate when played was Making Mummies.  At least it was a few days back when this very site did an analysis of how the quest cards were performing.  Might have changed some with nerfs but... might not have!

As far as i know Making Mummies is still the Nr. 1 Quest regarding the Winrate. Sure i see more Quest Shamans then Quest Paladins but most of the time i face these Shamans i win :)

Quest Shaman and Quest Druid, when fighting against them, feel like the kind of deck I tended to make early on.  It has a LOT of synergy and does a lot of tricks that generate a lot of effects, like making a hand full of lackies and using them to wipe out a pair of giants.

But it doesn't seem to be GOING anywhere.  They can generate a board or remove your board but can't seem to do both at the same time without using A LOT of those resources.  Thus they have the old Tempo problem: if they lose control they lose.  And quests, almost by design, make you sacrifice early control for a later gain.

Quest Paladin feels the same way with one major exception: it's bloody impossible to knock them off the board as their quest basically reads "drop super sticky minions in order to get the ability to generate more super sticky minions."  Reborn and sticky mechs into making more 2/2 reborn/stickyMechs > 1/1s.

Am I wrong in feeling though that Shaman/Druid are like, a few key cards away from turning into something very nasty though?  Like a Priest Dragon deck after One NIght but before Mean Streets?

  • Best Standard Highlander Build

Some of the cards I have in here I have simply because I don't know what to have instead. I don't really know what direction my deck wants to go in. but after hearing all of your advice I decided to make the following changes and see how it works.

    - Rapid Fire, Dire Wolf Alpha, Hunting Mastiff, Acolyte of Pain, Loot Hoarder, EVIL Cable Rat, Novice Engineer, and Dire Frenzy

and + [Hearthstone Card (secret keeper) Not Found], Tracking, Freezing Trap, Misdirection, Pressure Plate, Sunreaver Spy, Masked Contender, and Hyena Alpha

  • Need to craft something

    Quote From FieselFitz

Well both are fun to play but i think that the Priest is gonna be stronger or more consistent regarding the Winrate.

I'm playing Druid right now to get my golden Hero Portrait but i personaly would prefer the Priest. I also played Quest/Wall Priest before i started the Golden Portrait Run. Heres my list:

OMFG A priest that isn't using Inner fire!

(I don't have a problem with the card itself, but I personally don't want to run a priest deck that relies on it anymore)

And I only need to craft 1 legendary and 2 epics (RNG wanted to give me a mass of mage mess this time after basically priest-locking me last set).

So yeah, thank you so much!

Meanwhile glad you were able to get some good decks going OP.  This set feels like there's a lot of interesting decks to play with but a lot of them feel like they are 'missing' something.  Like Quest Druid not having an actual win condition (lots of neat tools that end up removing a lot of things but no way to WIN easily) or quest mage having a reason to actually WANT it.

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - SMOrcy Dorks, Holy Leisure, and Quintessential Moonfare

Very great write-up! Looking forward to try highlander hunter! SMORC FTW!

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

To the dude who played Quest Druid against my Control Shaman and whose endgame plan was Nomi into Elysiana: GJ man, I did not see that coming...but there's a reason you play Elise in that deck instead of Elysiana. ;)
