I will analyze the video and give some background to what happens cause this video goes over a lot of stuff in the game.
Unjustified rant/nitpicking:
bugs: Bugs are part of every single program in the world there is not a single program without bugs except if you test it to perfection which is almost impossible to get all the edge cases. btw hs is NOT a finished game a game that updates really often (monthly updates is crazy for single player games if you play those as well). Game freezes/crashes are part of every big game not just hs.
Auto complete not working in wild: The wild auto complete just doesn't work and they openly admitted it when they upgraded it to be actually good. also it's a plus cause the data on wild is so low so the meta is never really solved and the options are endless.
Classic legendaries being "useless" Tinkmaster Overspark actually sees some play from time to time as a tech card, Lord Jaraxxus might be great again someday.. it was great for a while, also legendaries are overrated it means they are rare not OP or too strong to have 2 copies of, BTWit's better they suck so you don't have to collect more of them!
Why does the video complains about wild combos? those are ok.. and you can't really design 3000+ cards and expect stuff to not be broken together.
they nerfed Charge because they wanted more freedom in designing cards, having the ability to give ANY neutral or warrior minion charge at any given time is a headache to balance, the card should be called "rush" and they should return WC to it's old iteration but with rush instead of charge.. WC is such a sad joke card.. (the second part is the part that annoys me, but the charge/otk rant is holding on a lie they said back then, otk is fine if it has counterplay).
Balance issues:dr. boom just got nerfed and the card was ok until rotation, big priest just got nerfed and it's win rate is sub 50, just really annoying to play against when they get Barnes on 4.. now they will never get Barnes on 4 again. they didn't want to nerf it because some people like big priest and it's playrate is high those people.. won't like their deck being nerfed (IKR some people like jhonny decks who would have guessed), don't think Naga Sea Witch got nerfed JUST cause reddit got a promoted thread. int he last year the dev team have been doing really well with balance I didn't feel that an extended amount of time something was waaaaay too good and it wasn't addressed they are doing it in a good pace too, not too soon, not too late.
80$ skin: it's not a 80$ skin they sell you the packs, and legendaries the skin is an extra to the bundle.
Legit complains:
Interactions: it's annoying cause they added like 1000 interactions in dalaran's heist but they can't add interactions to ranked play?
Economy: The HS economy is trash, including the achievements which people have been asking for AGES *looks at gwent* as well as statics.. which is dumb let's me add another thing did they realized yet every player that played for half a year have all classes at level 60 and the cap is meaningless? also the 50 quest of 2 games vs 1 game are kinda idiotic but the change was straight lazy bump from 40 gold to 50 gold instead of just .. deleting the 40 gold ones, but they won't this is cause they are greedy but it's NOT the development team fault it's the people who run the big money that block HS from making a better economy.
Up for opinion I don't care:
UI inconsistency: Quest rewards/dream/DK cards should really just show under a different tab in the UI I agree it's dumb but it doesn't matter that much really.
OCD: 5 gold is annoying but you can get the other 5 gold if you play arena again.
Zayle will be disenchant-able post rotation also can be bought with in game gold as I did.
TL;DR: most stuff in the video are small/ insignificant stuff and the only legit complain is the economy which is terrible compared to any other card game and it's not the dev team's fault cause they have no control over how much the company wants to earn from the game.
No ads here alone make this site much better for me. Hearthpwn is almost unusable on mobile with the amount of ads and redirect attempts it throws at me.
climbed to rank5 with my usual Even Shaman, tuned with the new totemic cards: the decks feels slightly stronger now, but not as dominant as I thought it could be.
I faced many variations of Quest Shaman, and they look solid Midrange decks. They can easily adjust to the meta, so while maybe not top tier, I think the archetype is bound to stay, due to its versatility.
I faced Secret Mages, and i felt hopeless. I probably misplayed more than I can admit, and they probably had a powerful start, but really, it felt hopeless (and I was playing Even Shaman). To me, the concept feels just as versatile as Quest Shaman (it's easy to adjust Secrets against Aggro now), but even more powerful, because Secret Mage can be relentless from turn-1. Arcane Flakmage and Flame Ward should have never been printed. I am not yet crying for nerfs, but I am seriously concerned by this deck now.
From rank5, I started playing with my own Bazaar Burglary Rogue, which is surprisingly good in Wild thanks to Ethereal Peddler. I don't have many games with it, but I already faced and defeated meta decks, so it looks much better than the Standard meta reports would suggest. Actually, my only success against Secret Mage comes from Tempo Thief Rogue. Maybe also because the meta is different in Wild? Either way, I conceive it as a fancy variation over Odd Rogue, more than one over Spectral Cutlass Rogue (which I conceive more as full-blown Midrange deck).
I haven't met many Quest Taunt Warriors, just one or two, and they were not as powerful as I feared they could be.
I have met some Reno decks, and while strong, they didn't feel much stronger than before, from my Tempo/Midrange perspective. Certainly they are not just Control decks now, but Midrange too thanks to the new Highlanders and Zephrys the Great. All in all, I think they could become more popular, but I am not sure they can actually climb the deck tiers (while staying very powerful in the right hands).
Still some Big Priests, but just as usual. I haven't climbed higher than rank4, so that could be the reason.
I've climbed to Legend over the last week and from my experience, Mages rule the field right now. Res Priests completely disappeared at around rank 3, I encounter only a handful of Odd Rogues, Even Shamans, Mech Hunters and Odd Paladins between 3 and legend, which indicates that they likely just cannot keep up with Secret Mage's damage output and tempo, and from there, it's essentially just Secret Mages battling Reno Mages, and the occasional Control Lock (Reno or otherwise) trying to outlast/outvalue them both. Once you get to legend, it's obviously a different story, and people play all sorts of weird shit like Snip-Snap Zoo Lock or Inner Fire Prist, but in general, the same decks still float to the top. SoU definitely contributed to the renewed power of both types of Mages, and Zephrys alone seems to be enough of an incentive for some Warlocks to go highlander as well.
But as far as the quests go...they leave much to be desired. The Warlock, Warrior, Paladin, Priest, Hunter and Mage ones are either absolutely awful (most of them) or simply not good enough (Paladin), the Shaman quest is highly debatable, as I've tested my preexisting Shudderwock Shaman with it and it seems to perform about as poorly as it did before (as in, not even clawing its way to 50 % winrate because aggro eats you and you're too slow to outpace combo). I've seen the Rogue Quest used a handful of times by some tempo decks, but in all honesty, nobody plays weapon removal in Wild anymore, so a tempo version with Cutlass seems to do way better from my experience (at around 63 % winrate for my list, though the sample size is only around 40 games at ranks 5-3 and Legend). The majority of the wins are solely thanks to Cutlass, so the quest doesn't seem worth it here either. The only quest I'd say has some major potential and is being completely misused is Druid. I've built a "draw your whole deck" Jade Quest Druid and the amount of defense, removal and lategame power that deck has is insane. Never before have I had my Jades go over 20/20 in size in an actual competitive game, but with this deck, it happens all the time. Geist obviously completely annihilates the deck, so it can't get too popular, but seeing as most decks don't currently run it, Jade Druid has some serious surprise potential and can generate insane boards on the same turn it has spent 7 mana drawing (Overflow makes UI look like a joke). I think playing the deck as a token, board-flood version like it is in Standard is strictly incorrect. Being able to make your Jades 30 % bigger thanks to the Quest and having much more efficient card draw and removal in Nourish, Wrath, Raven Idol and Starfall seems to do the deck major favours and enable it to really tick.
I don't agree on everything, but indeed the game hasn't added many things during time: we have basically only 3 game modes (and one is just a fun one), a grindy ladder (that rewards time efficient decks more than others) and a pretty obsolete quest system and greedy economy. When thinking of this situation, I remember that on China (where HS is managed by a third part company) they also already have in-game tournaments, deck tracker and datas avaibale.
I understand that for Blizzard HS must remain a casual friendly game, but adding more option can only make more dedicated players happy instead of letting them slip away (many top streamers have abandoned HS for other games). With MtG: Arena rising into the OCG market as the only real competitor, a sort of HS 2.0 would be a very nice thing to have sooner than later.
Just saw this amazing video on youtube and I think this is definitely something people in the Hearthstone community and the devs themselves need to see. Other than getting a good laugh out of it, it actually brings up a lot of good points as well:
Don't get me wrong, I love Hearthstone (otherwise I wouldn't spend so much time on a website like this), but this video really made me realize how much can easily be improved with very little effort if the devs would be willing. Maybe if they see this video they might get the idea to at least do something? Probably not, but one can dream.
Edit: I used 'devs' for lack of a better word (if anyone knows one please say so :p) but I don't only mean the game developers, since they don't have control over everything, but also the people responsible for things like the economic part of the game.
Do Highlander hunter players think this deck will still be dominant, without Zul'jin, next year?
I'm asking this because I don't know if it is safe to craft Brann and Subject 9. I have all the other key cards for this deck but I am a f2p scrub.
I'd be more worried about Subject 9 if I were you
Zul'jin is a great lategame card, but it's not like you can't win games before that. But Subject 9 is the only actual Draw Hunter has, meaning without her the deck will be so much more inconsistent than it already is (not to mention without the secret package 1/3 of the deck needs to be replaced somehow)
I'm actually hoovering between rank 5 and 3, playing almost only my Reno Mecha'thun Lock. Here my impressions by looking at my decktracker datas:
As you already said, Secret Mage has returned once again on ladder but improved with even more direct damage and board control. As always if it starts with a decent hand and can play Aluneth on curve (and you cannot remove it asap), it'll just steamroll the match.
I've faced some Reno Mage and Reno Lock, but I was expecting more of them around. Also found a couple of Reno Priest.
Jade Shaman with the addition of Corrupt the Waters has become another very common match up. On top of an empowered Jade army (thanks to Shudderwock), it can rely on some board control to face off those pesky aggro decks and it looks pretty solid for now.
Big Priest still there but their numbers seem to have thin out a bit. Or I'm just been lucky to face so few of them.
Mech Hunter and Odd Pala are not so common anymore, but that's may be because people are still having fun and experimenting with SoU' cards.
Zoo Lacky Lock have disappeared at rank 5, but I've been matched against a decent numbers of them while climbing. I don't find this deck too consistent or powerfull if compared to its previous incarnation mostly because it has to actually draw Dark Pharaoh Tekahn to become a threat.

My experience with OOC has been very positive. The community welcomes feedback and enjoys hearing differentiating opinions. I will agree that the information/articles uploaded to OCC are awesome, the time put into this site is greatly appreciated!

I would remove skaterbot and Sandbinder and add Kangor and the 3 mana draw cheapest minion spell instead (keep forgetting it’s name, would give you better card draw and add value to the deck in general.
Why does everyone keep putting Sandbinder in their highlander decks? This card is so bad in terms of tempo. And if you draw Siamat before playing it, it’s basically dead. Also it screams “Hey, I have Siamat in hand now”, so your opponent knows it as well.
Well i guess they put Sandbinder in to Draw Zephrys and/or Siamat and to thin the deck a little bit faster - but i also played lists without Sandbinder and it also worked fine!Quote From RandomGuy
I have seen the Shrivalah OTK highlander decks work okay.
Thats the kind of list i would persue if i wanted to build a Highlander Paladin ! Sure you could try some sort of Aggro/Tempo Highlander with Quest for Example but i personaly would prefer the Shirvalah OTK list

We do not have a Wild meta report yet, but we know SoU has carried many important cards for Wild meta.
So I'd like to have a discussion, according to your experience, about how you feel the meta has shaped or is still shaping, whether you think there are some critical decks now that might warp the meta or if everything will settle to Wild balance, eventually.
I bet we have all faced Secret Mages, and their unprecedented ability to deal both burn and board damage, while Even Shamans had their totemic synergy improved.
Many players started experimenting again with Highlander decks, while many others decided to complete the new Quests in Wild. Including at high ranks.
But what is the real powerlevel of all these new experimentations in the meta? Are Quests and Highlanders going to survive the meta? Is Secret Mage bound to be a meta tyrant?
I love the nerf to Barnes. It's pretty fair. I was just thinking that if they nerf it to 6 Mana, it will kill the card as it is a Neutral card and it's usage is not just in Big Priest.
Even the idea of an Actor token won't work cos it is still turn 4/3 big minion cos it is too early and too fast for the opponent to handle. Hence, the only logical way to nerf it is a 1 Mana increase to 5 Mana.
This would at least prevent the early turn 4/3 auto-concede moment that isn't super frustrating to deal with.
I glad Blizzard did not kill the card like how they killed Naga Seawitch and kept the design of the card.
Sure Resurrect mechanics may still pose a problem. At least now, Big Priest will feel less of a gamble and more like a control greedy deck. Well done!
Why does this guy got 10 downvotes though?
I agree with you it's good the card got a lot weaker (it was hard enough to play it on 4 believe it or not) but the card still does the same thing so big priest is still a thing just wins less..
btw this makes big priest so much weaker against aggro, the fact that your whole game plan is delayed by 1 turn in huge, I think some big priest lists might even cut barnes in general it will make shadow essense better since you can't low roll a 5/5 do nothing and will probably run a zilliax or another mid sized minion to compensate.
People will still play big priest though the deck is just too good vs any slow deck (except the pure hate decks) but it's gonna be less played which is good.
I've been playing a Quest Jade-C'Thun Shaman deck since I pulled Corrupt the Waters, and it has been entertaining so far. I think I might eventually drop the C'Thun package and start running more control-y stuff like you're doin'; it pains me to admit it, but C'Thun just can't keep up.
Sadly that is my experience with C'thun aswell.. I wish they could print some more support for the Old God in the future.. C'thun decks were always among my favourites.
The Jade/Control style seems to work quite well though!
I've been playing a more tempo oriented list with slightly less jades/value and having great success with it as well. I haven't tried your list but mine does fine against burn mage with only 1x kezan and 1x laotheb. Getting on board early and preventing the chip damage is generally how you beat tempo mages since they run few minions and fewer board control tools
Do you mind sharing your list? I am curious to see how it looks. And gratz for your success.
By the way, why are you running devolve over hex? For slower decks like yours, isn't 2 more mana not a big deal? Even though Big Priest is super rare right now, devolve still gives them a big drop if you use it on their pulls (I gave my opponent a walking fountain once). I can't imagine what match devolve would be better for. Druid maybe? I personally haven't seen a single one in the longest time though
Surprisingly enough, Big Priest is a rare matchup for me once I left rank 4 and my deck deals with it rather nicely (as long as they don't hit me with turn 4 bs Y'shaarj turns). Against them and other big decks I recommend people to run Plague of Murlocs (I use MCT, because I don't want to invest 400 dust in case I open both copies). The following might be off-topic, but you won't believe what kind of big priest opponents I faced the previous two days. On rank 3 and yesterday on rank 2 I've met two different priests running Eater of Secrets and I'm not joking. One of them also ran Deathlord and both of them had Convincing Infiltrator and Zilliax, but the secret tech was the most surprising inclusion.
Regarding Devolve - I like it a lot despite not facing not that many aggro decks as I did before. The card just shut downs buffed minions (magnetized mechs, pirates) and internal synergies (such in Anyfin paladins, Murloc Shamen, Odd paladins, N'Zoth, SN1P-SN4P warlocks etc). It can also deal with taunts nicely (Spreading Plague). Against Big Priest I mainly use the spell to kill Archmage Vargoth. I don't see a reason to run Hex, since I'm mostly facing Burn mages and swarm decks.
The nerfs are spot on. Luna on 4 or 5, boom on 7, one drop with arms on turn 3 for priest. All are too hard to get back from. Just drawing these cards/combo`s increase your win chances by 100% and feel too frustrating to play against. All classes will be fine after the nerfs and maybe we see more classes now. Just surprised that hunter was not touched as it will probably be top dog.

Here are my points so far:
SoU Wild meta

btw this makes big priest so much weaker against aggro, the fact that your whole game plan is delayed by 1 turn in huge, I think some big priest lists might even cut barnes in general it will make shadow essense better since you can't low roll a 5/5 do nothing and will probably run a zilliax or another mid sized minion to compensate.
People will still play big priest though the deck is just too good vs any slow deck (except the pure hate decks) but it's gonna be less played which is good.
Quest Jade Shaman - a wild sleeper deck.
Sadly that is my experience with C'thun aswell.. I wish they could print some more support for the Old God in the future.. C'thun decks were always among my favourites.
The Jade/Control style seems to work quite well though!

Do you mind sharing your list? I am curious to see how it looks. And gratz for your success.
What’s up with Hearthstone forum community?
Hearthpwn is the worst existing HS site I've ever seen.
Ugly, old and mobile unfriendly.
Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!
Spending gold on wings to obtain Barnes?
Thanks, guys! Guess I'll do it. It will set me back with some gold but I also believe the benefits are greater.
Cheers!
