  • Quest Jade Shaman - a wild sleeper deck.

I've been playing a Quest Jade-C'Thun Shaman deck since I pulled Corrupt the Waters, and it has been entertaining so far. I think I might eventually drop the C'Thun package and start running more control-y stuff like you're doin'; it pains me to admit it, but C'Thun just can't keep up.

What was the point of this maneuver by Hearthpwn? It was really weird because as I understood, outofcards was supposed to become a replacement for Hearthpwn, but now we have two forums with low activity.

The original purpose of Hearthstation Out of Cards *was* to become a replacement for Hearthpwn, as we had known for a while that it was shutting down. Flux wanted to purchase Hearthpwn so he and the rest of us could keep it alive, but he was denied the opportunity. We learned after-the-fact that Hearthpwn would survive under new, completely different management. By then Out of Cards was already under way; hence the two websites/forums.

Trust me/us, it was not intentional that we would split the community :/

Next up, a Paladin card. You can use any part of the artwork you want, but the effect should either involve healing or protection of some kind.

  • Standard & Wild Decks to Try Before the Nerfs Arrive - Uldum Edition

Its sad that a number of fun decks in wild like Big Rogue will probably be more damaged by the collateral damage from the Barnes nerf than Big priest itself. Barnes was an often brutal turn 4 play to be sure, but Vargoth and the resurrection/ graveyard mechanic as a whole are much more problematic, imo. Having said that, I'm glad that Blizzard finally pulled the trigger on the nerf, but worry that Big Priest will continue to plague us more or less indefinitely. Maybe the lack of an early statue or Yshaarj will allow aggro decks to push through that much more easily, who knows?

My experience with OOC has been very positive. The community welcomes feedback and enjoys hearing differentiating opinions. I will agree that the information/articles uploaded to OCC are awesome, the time put into this site is greatly appreciated!

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

    Quote From HULKbiceps

I do not like most of these nerfs unfortunatly..

Dr.Boom should have just been HoFed.

Barnes is still too god for 5 mana since BigPriest has no legit turn 5 play anyway besides from the 2/6 deathrattle dude maybe.

Extra Arms was very strong for 2 but I dont think it needed a nerf now.

Lunas Galaxy.. Yeah well that one had to be.. Although I enjoyed playing it in my Wild RenoMage.

Conjurers Calling still feels to good for just 4 mana but we will see..

The thing with the Barnes and CC nerfs is that now they come down at least a full turn later (two turns for the Twinspell CC double) which gives decks either more time to murder the Big Priest before he comes online, or time to get counterplay/reaction options. Not saying it'll be enough, who knows, but that's the reasoning. Don't underestimate the power of a full extra turn delay

  • Quest Jade Shaman - a wild sleeper deck.

Mainly Midrange and tempo decks of all shapes and sizes, some meta, but mainly off meta. But I have faced quite a bit of Renolocks and Reno Priests lately. Also, I don't run Storm Chaser for two reasons. 1. No room in the deck. 2. If I have Hagatha's Scheme in my opening hand (which I normally do), I want to keep it. Even when I don't, I normally wish I did.

If you say, that you are satisfied with Hagatha's Scheme, then I guess the spell is worth testing out. Tomorrow I will play some games in casual and see how the scheme does. So thanks for sharing this info.

I have also met similar decks, some going full-blown battlecry, others using strong AoE and Fountain too.

In my limited experience against it, the Quest Jade concept is definitely strong, and i feel the lists with some extra Control package could be the most consistent ones, because they include both solid survival and lategame value.

Mages are turning into a real bane in Wild against virtually any deck. I'm not sure what to say about that matchup.

At first I also ran some AoEs like Lightning Storm, because I faced a lot of murloc shamen and paladins, odd paladins, mech hunters etc, but right now most of my matches are against burn mage. That's why I run two copies of Eater of Secrets. In the cases, when I face aggro, I just rely on Devolve, Sandstorm Elemental, Jade Claws, Vulpera Scoundrel and the lackey package to save my ass. But yeah, having the ability to regain board control after having such a weak start, would be really valuable.

  • What’s up with Hearthstone forum community?

OOC is where you should be. The community here is better than hpwn could ever be. All the best from hpwn came here, and the team that runs this site truly cares about the game, the community, and making the best website for everything hearthstone (and other ccgs).

While yes the amount of people here is smaller than hpwn at it's peak, people are very active here and overall are much more positive, helpful and encouraging than anything that happened on hpwn.

The site is also still just in infancy. They have made major changes and strides since they launched, but they are working every day on making changes/improvements and implementing new features. And they are constantly communicating what features they have planned and are in process of making.

And the mods are responsive! I just last night made a suggestion of something I'd like to see on the homepage. The team responded quickly, and by this morning, the feature I had suggested was implemented. You won't find that on any other hearthstone site.

My point, large numbers of forum dwellers that hpwn had at it's peak, doesn't make a good forum. The quality of people, and a caring mod group is what makes a good forum. OOC has both of those.

Visit this site daily, and you will see. They are constantly putting out various articles making this by far the best place to get together and talk hearthstone.

  • Looking back at the Buffs experiment.

I think the buffs were excellent and a huge success.  I would much rather team 5 try things out to freshen things up.  Some of it will work out and thats good.  Some of  it won't so they revert it, that's also good.  I'd rather them take chances and fix something if it doesn't feel right than being scared to make change and they do nothing.

So many of these you're say, "oh this doesn't see play so it was a fail".  Not every one of these cards was supposed to see play because it was buffed.  Some of them were clearly just to make fun cards less shitty for meme decks or even when discovered or randomly generated.  Like you're saying Pogo was a fail but people were playing that deck in tournaments and high legend during ROS.  How can that be a fail?  Just because they buff a card doesn't mean they intend for it to be meta until it rotates.

Extra arms was buffed at a time when priest was hot garbage.  It was fine until the new expansion.  If they wanted to address the divine spirit / inner fire issue then extra arms at 2 would STILL be fine, but they don't want to kill priests only competitively viable win condition so they went the easy way and reverted extra arms.  Still, even though it's being reverted I think extra arms buff was the right call.

Thunderhead pushed aggro shaman into a meta deck.  That is a huge success and it's a fun and cool card.

Storm bringer is pretty playable now and it never saw play before.  Fun card, success.

Glowstone tech is not just a meme.  It's not a tier 1 deck card but the game doesn't exist only for tier 1 decks.  Mech paladin became a meta deck in RoS because of it, and hand paladin is a decently powerful deck in the current expansion that runs with it.  Jambre plays at high legend with the deck.  Success.

Crystology was good at 2, but it wasn't good enough to push aggro decks over, the only deck that used it was combo paladin.  Crystology is super good but i don't think it gets nerfed unless they print a 1 attack minion that is super snowbally and they've been adamant they aren't doing that.  In fact i'm very confident it doesn't get nerfed.  Mech paladin didn't become a thing until glowstone and crystology were buffed, that was a deck added to the meta from the buffs.  Success.

    Already talked about pogo.

The only truly bad buff was Luna's Pocket Galaxy.  They wanted to make a cool legendary that saw very little play more playable.  In ROS it was a little broken but not as toxic as when SoU was released.  Had to be nerfed, it is what it is.

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

It looks like I'll aim for Hunter to be my next class to get 1,000 wins.

  • Looking back at the Buffs experiment.

Boom and conjures nerfs are very slim. Both cards will stay meta defining.

  • What’s up with Hearthstone forum community?

Hi everyone! I wasn’t a forum dweller until I ran across the glorious salt thread on Hearthpwn. I know, I know - Hearthstone is a cool game, but the level of RNG and the nature of card games in general can often be a source of frustration, so I needed a place where I could unleash my inner Kripp.

But gradually I started browsing other threads, look for cool deck ideas and even started sharing some ideas of my own. That was until Hearthpwn announced the great shut down. I stopped reading forum threads one week before the supposed closing date as the activity was dwindling.

And what do I accidentally find out a week ago after logging in to Hearthpwn for the first time in months? That it still works! Yay... ? Well, actually no. Judging by activity there and here, I see that the forum community in Hearthstone fell apart. What was the point of this maneuver by Hearthpwn? It was really weird because as I understood, outofcards was supposed to become a replacement for Hearthpwn, but now we have two forums with low activity.

Am I the only one who feels it’s odd?

Imagine Lord of the Rings ending. Frodo (Hearthpwn) looks at Sam (us) and delivers a most heartbreaking good-bye. But like 10 minutes after boarding the ship, he comes down and says, ‘Nah, I’ll stay. But will live in the basement from now on.’

    Not cool, Frodo!

I held onto my two copies of golden conj i opened at ROS week one because I knew that shit would be nerfed.

Boom isn't going anywhere by the way.  It was appropriately nerfed but warrior players are probably happy about these nerfs overall due to not getting farmed by mage.

Since I'm not a hard-core ladder climber, my view might not mean much to a lot of people,

That should make your view more valuable. The vast majority of Hearthstone players are not ladder climbers.

The original post puts all cards into two categories - overpowered or trash. If a card is a part of a top tier deck, it's overpowered. If not, it's trash. I, on the other hand, find plenty of middle ground. Even though Gloop Sprayer is not currently in a tier 1 deck, I use it in my ramp beast deck, and it's great. I use Mulchmuncher in my token Druid, and I like it. So, no, these buffs were not a failure at all. They were fun, and fun is why I play the game.

I am not alone! lol, thanks mate. It's nice knowing there are other people here who view the game this way. I tend to think I'm the only one from looking through forum posts. Perhaps I'm just not looking at the right ones.

  • Quest Jade Shaman - a wild sleeper deck.

Glad to see I'm not the only one trying Quest Jade Shaman. I initially tried it with C'thun cards but eventually cut them to double down on the Jades. I put Hagatha's Scheme in my deck and it has done very well dealing with boards.
