I got an email from Blizzard trying to entice me to dust off my classic character in WoW by instantly leveling it up to 100. Which, may work for most, but for me not so much. I'd rather live in the nostalgia of when I was in my 20's drinking beer, raiding like BWL/AQ crazy. Then I got another email about the classic only server getting ready to open up. I almost took the hook, but then I realized I am married with 4 kids, and I couldn't delicate the endless grinding hours for it. haha
Those email did bring me to a crossroads in my brain. I was stuck thinking about the endless hours of vanilla, and my 7 - 10 minute Hearthstone matches I try to squeeze in when I can.
I started to wonder what good expansions they could bring to Hearthstone from the vanilla days.
Here are my top 3:
First one that came to me was Dire Maul for some reason. An Orge Expansion would be fun, could also tie in to the ruined night elf city.
Second was Darkmoon Faire. I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been done yet. That place was always fascinating to me. Travelling band of gypsies peddling their wares.
Third would be an Alterac Valley type of deal. That place was a crazy pvp. Totally fluid, and a pvp holyland. I remember epic battles outside of Tarren Mill which isn't to far from the zone for pvp queue as well.
Guys, can you please assume i am not a complete n00b? Thank you.
I know how zephrys works. Yet his algorhythm is not as perfect as it should be.
He can't NOT give a tech option against 2 secrets. Giving Eviscerate, Fireball, Swipe is 3 redundant options. How's that perfect?
And i played him twice.
This WAS a whiff, period. This is a "mildly salty thread" but I'm not even really salty, he failed, not me. And it was a silly Casual game, why should i care?
Now, can we please go on with the purpose of the thread? :)
No, he didnt fail. He is simply not coded to provide a secret removal option consistently (or at all?). He sees secrets, but not what kind of secrets, even if you check for them, he will not remember what secrets were eliminated by your actions. The mistake is you thinking he should offer secret removal options, but that is not how he works in regard to secrets specifically, simple as that.
I have played zephrys on several occasions and he offered me a SI:7 Infiltrator, so Zephrys can see secrets, and he can offer you secret removal.
Well, then it is a possibility and not a guaranteed outcome, where the latter is a known fact. If we can get info like this in here, im all for it ;-)
The secretly subtle point of this thread is to gather enough data to prompt an improvement of his code. 😎
Indeed, i also thought about Wild mode being a counter-variable.
Zephrys may have no knowledge of Wild, hence why he does not even think that a tech at that point is a useful option.
Yet offering 3 redundant options is clearly a bad execution.
EDIT: Counterspell is Standard and would have countered ALL the options he offered me. He should definitely be improved as to the diversity of options he can offer.
Absolutely ignores deathrattles early on. Played against a Expired Merchant turn 2, played Zephrys on 3 and wished for silence, however I got Powerword:Shield, Mortal Coil and another card.
I feel that he overvalues the max mana you have left and doesn't consider deathrattle effects for the mid to long game. (Could've been a VERY different game)
As far as I know there is no sufficient data for the golden legendary pity timer (PT).
I actually got to 39x packs last expansion in between golden legendaries, so the much cited '400 packs PT' seems to hold, but I'm now (unwillingly) on my quest to test the PT:
349 Uldum packs opened, no golden legendary (got all commons and rares, most epics and would be missing like 5-6 legs hadn't I crafted 3)
IF I DO HIT like 380, I'll post again, but until then: What was the longest opening streak without a golden leg for you?

- In this specific szenario, he realises that the opponent is at one health, hence he offers damage. He doesn’t consider ice block as an option.
- Playing Zephrys multiple times doesn’t increase the odds significantly. The only thing that changes is the mana available.
He is hard coded spotting lethal and in this case he found it. At least he thought so.
Now to my own experience. I played against a warlock with Diseased Vulture on turn 4, plus some lackeys on board. I was really hoping for a shadowword pain but didn‘t get it. The best offer he had, was a SI7 Agent though. I guess he doesn‘t consider minions with ongoing effects as high priority to remove
Do you think this was due to being played in wild?
I say that because I played two matches yesterday with singleton Hunter (standard) and the opponents had secrets in play and in both occasions, he offered me the Infiltrator... (in one of these instances I was about to kill the opponent anyway)
Oh! Thanks! :) Since i didnt know the command, i didnt know it was written incorrectly in a first place :) This might be of use during reveal season, sometimes i wish i could move the text ever so slightly.
There is really no grounds for a riot. Those quests can be a part of a future event, or PVE introduction weeke or w/e. They didnt officially said anything, they only put the data in the client. Just cause someone dug it up doesnt mean they robbed us of anything by not providing the quests yet ;-)
Look at Mr./Mrs. Rational Thought over here! What part of RIOTRIOTRIOT was unclear? :)
- Mech Hunter; This meta is full of control and Ctrl Warrior in particular is even stronger. Mech Hunter (thankfully) has mostly died a death now.
Nope. My brawl matches yesterday at 8 wins, 10 wins, 11 wins and 11-2 were all mech (bomb) hunters. Ranks 1-2 when I was there a few days ago was full of bomb hunter. Bomb hunters thrash all kinds of mages and other hunters and those are some of the most popular classes out there right now. Bomb hunter is also faring quite well on HSReplay at high tier 2
It's true that their numbers took a dip after the expansion but I'm pretty sure it's only due to their pilots deciding to try out new things for awhile. There's nothing wrong with the deck's power level itself and it counters the meta harder than ever so it's still a stellar ladder choice if a player is so inclined to play for only climbing
I beat Mech Hunters all the time, without a problem, and went 10 wins on the brawl facing mostly people playing that deck. :-P But my own anecdotal evidence doesn't account for much, because everyone's experiences with / against different decks will always be varied and specific to them. (If you get the meaning behind that sentence; saying a deck is good/bad because you did well (or badly) with it isn't really a fair argument)
The point being that I believe the deck is certainly not as strong as it was in the previous meta. Whether it is "bad" or not is mostly down to personal opinion. So while I can say that I think it now is, you can also say you think it isn't. But it's one of those questions that can't really be answered accurately until the meta has had a month or two to settle. :-)

That is my point: his code is not perfect.
He does generally offer tech cards, but in this case he offered only redundant lethal options.
That is not the optimal choice he is meant to offer.
A whiff is a whiff. The fact the code whiffs is exactly the point of this thread.

That’s because it’s POSVERT (without the first T), and yeah, you put {{POSVERT=X}} where X is any number from -30 to 30. Negative makes the text go up and positive makes it go down
Yeah you need to know how to play zephrys. He doesn't consider anything in hand. So first playing evisirate and than playing zephrys will give you lethal. Same with the coin. If you have it in hand instead of playing it for mana yet zephrys will not know you have 1 additional mana. It will offer the best card based on board state, health of heroes, and mana available. It does take into account if there are secrets but he won't know which secret it would be (the same as for every other player).
If you has played eviscerate first then he would have seen the lethal and given you SI:7, or some other from of lethal.
I would have triggered the ice block. ;)
Either way, post your whiffs!
This thread is not about discussing my case, which WAS a whiff no matter what! He's meant to offer the perfect card, and a choice. It's pointless to offer 3 redundant damage cards and no tech. In 6 cards (played him twice).

building a competitive deck for standard without using any legendaries
The deck has a winrate below 50%. There is no way that this deck should get nerfed anytime soon.
If you like priest and want to play without legendaries, then aggro priest is probably your best bet.
