Im a sucker for big buff and high cost minion and absolutely love Colossus of the Moon but I'm afraid I havent found much use for it.
I am trying to fit it into a Plot Twist Deck that includes the new Warlock quest to possibly get a "cheap" 10/1 with divine shield or a free big boi in the late game.
Another option I tought of was a Zoolock Deck that tries to pull buff stuff out with Darkest Hour though it seems very weak to boardclears.
What are your ideas? Im thrilled to hear any opinion on this!
Speaking of new mechanics we're talking about, I'm planning to go make 100 total new cards with every 10 different sets in different theme. I have previously made another 100 cards this year, although my few cards seem rushed and others of it were uninspired, so I'm going for a 200th cards with a new mechanic this time, mostly keywords.
For less than 2 weeks, I have reached around 70 cards, so just a few more left and I'll show new keywords that I haven't done before. Some may be a generic and common mechanic/keywords that are very similarly used throughout Hearthpwn. But, there is one awesome keyword I have made it up to date. Excited to share many people. Yet I gotta complete the rest before showcasing the new 100 cards.
But at the moment, I think I'm kinda bragging here right now without showing anything, so I'll just go this way:
First, do actions, then words later.
I should finish it this month, just 30 cards left...
I don't see quest warrior as being a thing. For one, you already have Dr. Boom if you wanted a high value, upgraded hero power. Second, just think about how this deck competes with others. I don't see this deck as ever being able to pick up enough tempo to be able to beat a control warrior. Quest rogue will just kill any of your golems for free with their weapon. And against mage, as soon as they play giant + conjurer's calling, you're pretty close to done. This deck just seems to have less power than other aggro decks and no where near the long term value of other decks like mage, quest druid, or slower warrior builds.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't really see this deck having many favorable matchups.
It definitely looks like a strong deck, but I'd also be cautious. A lot of people in the theorycrafting thing a few days ago were running greedy decks, meme decks (ie mogu cultist decks), plot twist warlocks, etc that are either just straight up bad decks or will take quite a bit longer to refine and tune than something straightforward like battleycry shaman. Hard to say what will end up good until we've had a few weeks to actually test the whole meta out. I'd be quite surprised if it didn't end up a Tier 2 deck at least though.
Thinking the Lackey package might be a decent fit in Zoo too. Gives extra ways to kill merchant with Evil Genius, and 5/5 Bodies with Evil Recruiter. Just not sure what you would sub out for it
6.5-6.8 wins on average is already very good, hard to say at that point what you're doing wrong without providing specifics like drafts or gameplay. It might not be a meta that is entirely suited to your playstyle. If you've made it to 10:0 four times in a row it just seems like an unlucky streak though.
My best is 11 and i think i also had two devasting last matches. It was a shaman draft with 4 vulcanos... At 10+ it feels like i play against constructed aggro decks ...
Unfortunately this way too much fair to hope to see play in Wild...
Against Druid 30 damage will get you nowhere near killing them seeing how much armor they can stack...
Against Mage you'll probably get OTKed yourself way before you can draw this and even if somehow you manage to combo them Ice Block is a thing...
I suppose it could work against Hunter but Hunter is a small percentage of the meta...
Good luck playing Control Warrior against Big Priest... Even if you somehow make it to the late game he'll probably have hordes of Statues and LK to protect him...
Against Odd Paladin you either draw your AOE and they concede or they stomp you before you can play the combo...
Against Rogue you don't need a 30 damage combo to win... You either play against Odd Rogue and they concede as soon as they realize they can't win or get stomped/rekt/annihilated by a slower Deck...
Same as Odd Rogue,Even Shaman either stomps you or concedes before you can pull this off...
Against Warlock good luck going through Mal'Ganis/Voidlords or in alternative getting rekt by Mechathun because they draw faster than you...
And last but not least you're not ever going through Odd Warrior's pile of armor with just 30 damage...
TL;DR If you want to play OTK Warrior you're better off using Mechathun but even in that case I doubt the Deck would work...
Are you sure about this? Since the rotation already happened... i
They messed up, some runs were retired, some werent. But SoU still needs to be added, so there should be another reset at least because of that. So i would advise you to leave a run unfinished to get the ticket.
I think we might eventually get something like "trinkets", that can either have passive aura-like effects or be something like a second hero power. Unless the development of 0-attack weapons continues and keeps that part of design in this area.
add buldings: iv seen several ppl in the past trying to implement building type card into the HS and i dont think iv ever liked any variation of what i saw. My biggest strife with such a design is the inability to interact with "gathering resources" from the other player's side. It was usually understated minions or overcosted spells that were supposed to provide resources (wood) for the tempo loss. But the opponent could never interact with that part of the play, nor did the game mechanics. You would just play out your cards, get enough resources and then when you had enough, played the structure card and reap the benefits. That is a very one dimensional playstyle with zero interaction from the other side of the board that just seems wrong to me.
Not to mention that introducing a new card type will probably have to be done for all 9 classes at once. Even if it didnt have to be like that from game mechanics or balance standpoint, i dont think community would survive that and there would be too much of an outcry.
With that said, it is not easy to come up with something new you can casually implement for every class. I believe HS is far from reaching its full potential or running out of ideas, but given the fact how the game is structured - and lets not forget about the catering to the mobile client above many things - designing new, meaningful card types that would make sense and were possible to implement throughout the entire spectrum is no easy task.
I tried my hand at the Buildings mechanic with the idea of the set just being really powerful. I think I made this around the time RR had it's meta solved so I had this idea of 'the last expansion should be powerful because it won't be in standard for too long and it'll shake up the meta'. Looking back, some of the stuff is just WAY too over the top. Even the buildings for each class are more or less what you said, they deny the ability for interaction. Which is what I was trying to go for but as I look back, it's a bad idea since there's no REAL way to counter them.
EDIT: There was also an additional rule with this set that each of the class legendary minions could not be in the deck if the building was in the deck and vice versa.
One more thing for the future - or two - I would write a schedule so until when should the winners be announced (so no one would be mad if it would be till Mon tomorrow:) and second...some rules who can win - I hoped you will appriciate these orginal ones\best effort - I understand it was simple draw:( and I had prepered first time in my life (the only one in the comments I think) THE GIF to power the contest up :D

With the first expansion in Year of the Dragon, Rise of Shadows, rotating drafting pool for Arena was introduced. Card sets are selected from both Standard and Wild. Prior to this, Arena was using Standard-only drafting pool. Now drafting pool for Arena changes every few months.

This passed totally under my radar! Noone talked about that. Oh yeah, streamers were busy playing Uldum already.......
Feels good to play dragon synergy though! Un‘goro and Rastakhan are some of the best arena sets imo. This dragon synergy will probably be gone when SoU launche
The last arena cycle was super inconsistant! I failed horribly with insane control decks, mage was a rng Fiesta and my only 12 win run was with a face hunter (statistically the worst class at that time). So yeah, i had similar issues.
My guess is, the tempo meta was more draw and luck dependent and you get quickly steamrolled in the first couple turns. Kripp was definitly right this time when he accused going second for his loss.
My first run in the new arena cycle was way different btw. 12-0 with an insane mage deck. Last three games against priest btw, seems control is back!
