I was intrigued, as I am by any new CCG that claims to be a Hearthstone Killer. In a way its no surprise it failed. It was overly complex to play and follow, it had a bizarre price point compared to the other games such as Eternal and Shadowverse and it was just hyped waaaay too much.
Been coming here since it was Hearthstation and a much better place it is. Hopefully Flux and the other guys keep it clear and I'm sure it will be great. Especially out of the clutch of Curse.
In a competitive environment, in the age of Internet, people will always find somewhere what the best option is and will copy it. But it's ok, it's not something that can be avoided even if it leads to a meta. But if you're really a competitive player than you actually want to play against the best, so no problem here.
The good side of the situation is that those who are not interested in competitivness but are willing to find new and funny ideas can also search around for those. The issue here rise (on HS) because there isn't an environment that is not filled with netdecks, making that almost terrible to go out and actually have some fun. We need a real Casual mode where the top tier decks are not allowed.
I'm tempted to say Crazed Geomancer looks like it could be an Elemental. I also think Gravelpatcher, Slab Cracker, Earthen Stoneshaper, and Crystal Bowrunner could possibly also be Elementals.
Well...that is how Rogues are supposed to be. If you give them too many "Big" options the class will be even more broken. It's not supposed to get those cards. Warriors and priest get those cards because they have awful tempo or miracle cards. Mage is the middle ground between the two.
How is that an option for warriors and priest and not for rogue though? You can't just say warriors and priests are bad at a playstyle and that is why that should be more of those cards and then just say rogue will be broken if they stop getting pigeonholed into tempo/combo/miracle. Rogue doesn't even have legitimate board clears or class healing so I don't see how rogue control would be close to broken.
Right now HS is lopsided in regards to how it diversifies the playstyle and feel of its 9 classes. Rogue has perhaps been kept the most stale of the classes. Meanwhile, warrior, priest, and mage, look nothing like how the classes first started when in vanilla HS (moving from control-only, spell dependent, and/or slow combo to every single playstyle in the game and sometimes even giving massive class healing to classes that almost completely lacked it).
Well if it weren't for Blizzards new deck helper those would be valid points, but the new deck helper makes you able to finish your "deck idea" with some decent choices.
At least that's my opinion.
Not saying netdecking is bad per se, but I think there is another solution for the arguments given.
I don't think that's how it works though? I'm not sure but I think it works by picking the very best deck available with the cards that you have. There are a couple of different 'layers' that the Deck Helper uses. The first one being the 'Meta Layer' which is an algorithm that looks at the most popular decks being played at your Rank. Then it proceeds to create a deck built around that.
So in effect you are creating a Meta Deck. Just with the cards you have. True its not 'Netdecked' per se but it is as close to a Tier One deck as you can get.
Our first Netdecking post! We should take a picture or something... :-)
Just kidding (Actually I can't verify that as I've not scoured the list)
Anyway, on a more serious and back to your topic: There is something really useful about netdecks - they give people a chance to play decent decks if they don't have the skills in deck creation that others do.
This is important for some players because they can be really skillful players, but would struggle to make an optimised deck, so it is a case of relying on the help of others to get the best game play.
An additional thing about netdecking is that the problem usually isnt the netdecks themselves, it's something that is more intrinsic to card-based games in general and that's the lack of diversity that can often come from only a small number of decks that end up ruling the meta. Because these decks are so strong, they are super-popular, and people naturally want to win, so they look for and choose what seems to be the easiest road to obtaining that win.
Well...that is how Rogues are supposed to be. If you give them too many "Big" options the class will be even more broken. It's not supposed to get those cards. Warriors and priest get those cards because they have awful tempo or miracle cards. Mage is the middle ground between the two.
before anything, let me say thanks to the team behind the new website, it looks terrific and fast, i wish you all the best :)
Now, on to a feature request: apparently, the password can't be updated in the profile management section. Or maybe it's me that i didnt find the option. It would be cool to have this ;)
Agreed. This isn't meant to be an insult, but some people are honestly terrible at deck building. Net decking opens up avenues for those players to actually expand what decks they might otherwise try or be able to build themselves.
Yeah, everything competetive finds a meta. Everyone wants to be the best. Gaming, sports or even trends that sell the most. Everyone keep track of what is most efficient.
It is boring for people who want to do their own thing, but obviously a Ferrari wins over a horse wagon so why bother being bad :p

This is honestly probably a good thing. Remember just a few months ago, before rotation, when everyone was complaining about the lack of anti-combo cards? Remember everyone wishing for a classic dirty rat? It's kind of nice to have a lack of combo for once, because believe me, it's only a matter of time before it becomes the best deck again. (And then there will be threads stating the opposite)
And don't get me wrong, I don't hate combo, hell I got my golden druid from the boomsday meta, but even I think that it's a good thing.
By now, everyone and their mother knows about hearthpwn's fate. So, most of us have migrated here, to out of cards.
At first, the site seemed mediocre at best; I was having trouble scrolling down and using some features, but it is getting better every day.
Keep it up, moderators, you guys are doing great. I hope this site grows to the size of hearthpwn, and beyond!
I almost like this site even more than hearthpwn, for a few reasons:
1) No pop up ads. It has gotten so bad recently on hearthpwn, that I can barely do anything before I become a 'SUPER LUCKY WINNER!!!' You have no idea how good it feels to be able to browse forever on this site without stupid things coming up!
2) works MUCH better on mobile. If I am ever using this site or hearthpwn, I am 99% of the time on my phone, whether I be on my commute, or just waiting for something to happen. On hearthpwn, once in a while, I would be looking at people's profiles out of pure curiousity, and I would accidentally hit the 'collection' button. See, my phone can't handle this massive collection being loaded, and I'd often have to close the tab because it would freeze trying to load the collection. Thank God there's no innkeeper on this site :)
Well I apologise for writing a book, but I really wanted to voice my opinion on this new site. Keep up the good work guys, and long live Out of Cards!
Coming from a heavy combo/OTK player myself, I'm actually glad combo isn't super popular right now. It is healthy for different playstyles to take turns controlling the meta. If one playstyle rules for too long then extra heavy nerfs/deck killing usually follows.
And by big I don't mean actual Big Rogue, but more along the lines of N'Zoth/Deathrattle Rogue or Jade Rogue.
Warriors, priests, and mages frequently get to spin the class identity/deck type wheel and completely change their playstyle, while rogue is kept stagnant for the longest time (tempo, combo, miracle).
With just one glance, there's HS flavor breaking everywhere:
"Steal cards" doesn't fit Druid at all. It's Priest (and later Rogue) territory. Nor should it ever be to. Their specialty is card draw.
Hunter isn't supposed to have good board clear. And Red Wedding would be overpower in any class, not just Hunter.
There's no class card other than Shaman with Windfury, so Oberyn Martell cannot have Windfury.
There's no casting card cross-class. Even Rogue and Priest with their steal mechanic still have to pay mana to steal the cards first. So Robert Baratheon is impossible.
There's also no Discover effect activate at the end of your turn. Samwell Tarly is impossible.
Ramsay Bolton doesn't fit the Warlock class at all. All of his flavor and gameplay mechanic scream Priest.
Faceless Man wording is a mess. Who is "A man"? Which turn will it kill? Enemy? Your? Both?
Mirri and Petyr has 5 lines of text.
Unsullied is basically a reprint / buff of Arena Patron
6 keywords in one expansion is a little much. Most expansion mostly introduce 1-3 keywords.
The mountain's wording should be "by one attack". It;s also way overcost for what it is. 7 mana should be fine.
Melisandre's token is way too complicated for her to be a Rare.
Sacrifice's wording should be "the highest cost minion". Similarly, Tywin Lannister should be "the lowest cost". Wording for minion cost should be consistent with the Joust mechanic.
Thanks for the feedback!
The steal mechanic was a total mistake, i was thinking in draw all the time. I have fixed the problems with the wording and The Red Wedding was nerfed haha, I know that Ramsay Bolton doesn't match with Warlock's class but I don't want to be realistic. Ramsay Bolton does exactly that in the TV Show and he can't be a priest card at all.
Sansa isn't grossly underpowered compared to Shade of Naxxramas because She gains +1/+1 each turn.
Hi there, plz add a light color scheme to the website. Also, have you thought of open sourcing the UI of the website? I'm sure a lot of programmers love hearthstone and will be happy to help.
Hey all, one thing that bugged me with our last stomping ground at Hearthpwn was the inability to properly label some of my decks with their proper, or less known, deck types. If they weren't listed in the list we had for that class then we just had to choose "Unknown". However, with Out of Cards I see that now there isn't an Unknown option when crafting decks (unless I'm mistaken, which is entirely possible) so I have to just select the deck description label that most resembles my actual deck.
Is there a possibility to create custom deck labels or expand the list of available deck creation labels?
Lets talk about Artifact and why it failed (none meme addition)

It looked nice though. 🤔
Out of Cards is... Great
Agreed. I'm loving this site so far, although there are still a few things they need to add, like Spoilers.
But I know they will add them eventually.

I honestly have to agree as well. There is a thread on hearthpwn about this topic too, but with the opposite argument in the OP.
Even though it makes the game less diverse, I often run out of deck building ideas, and the internet seems great in that situation.
