Agreed. I'm loving this site so far, although there are still a few things they need to add, like Spoilers.

But I know they will add them eventually.

I agree. I would also like to see a post count like hearthpwn, as well as many other small things. But I assume that everything will be added because Flux wants "everything hearthpwn had and more"

Post count does exist, you have 7 <---- but it's not the most noticeable perhaps. Still much to be done in terms of user profile data but we'll get there =D

Oh I had no idea it existed... I guess I need to play around with the site a bit more. I'm excited to see what you guys will addadd!

(And 7 posts haha! Gonna have to build that back up again!)

  • Out of Cards is... Great

Used pwn for years and NEVER felt like I wanted to create an account.

Signed up on OoC today as soon as I could. Keep it up and go get ‘em, Flux.

    Handle it!

  • Out of Cards is... Great

I agree, this site is great! Keep up the good work!

  • Welcome to Out of Cards

This will be great!  Congrats and I’m looking forward to all the improvements.

  • Boommaster Flark's place in Mech Hunter

As mentioned, Flark's purpose is mainly to provide magnetic targets that you can use to burst down the opponent. He also counters brawl a bit, if the warrior is low on health.

  • Out of Cards Changelog - 2019-06-01

    Outstanding Move

  • Out of Cards Changelog - 2019-06-01

June has arrived and so have more updates to Out of Cards!

    New Features

    • Deck Listings Redone
      • You can now sort the columns on the deck listing page.
      • Added a filter for the patch a deck was added in.
      • The class filter now has a nice image interface and you can select multiple classes to sort by.
      • Mobile users will be able to see some additional data that was hidden.
      • Mobile users will be able to properly make use of the filters.
      • You can now filter for Standard vs Wild Decks
        • Do note that decks created before today are all currently marked as Standard. We will issue a hotfix to flag wild decks correctly.
        • If you want to update your deck before we get that fix out, you can resave the cards for the deck by clicking on "Edit Cards" on the deck page and it will gain the correct flagging.
    • Homepage Support Us
      • A new box is at the bottom of the sidebar with easy links to accessing how you can support the site.
      • As the sidebar gets more information added to it, this information will move to our site footer.

    Changes

    • Navigation Revamp
      • The navigation on mobile now supports options for account management, profile, and sign out.
      • Additional options have been added to each of the drop downs to make finding content easier.
      • Decks now has dropdown options. They will take you to the top decks, newest decks, deck guides, and dedicated links for class-specific decks.
    • Deck Pages
      • Now state if a deck is Standard or Wild under the Format box.
      • A placeholder for "Your Cost" has been added. We don't have an exact timeline for the feature but we wanted to make sure people know it is coming and that they can expect it.

    Bug Fixes

    • All staff should now have blue usernames.
  • Heist Heroes, Best Heroes

    Quote From Cleef2

I like most of the heroes actually. I also find the evil league members and their comments at times hilarious. I have to laugh every time dr. Boom says something about the townspeople even fighting them and that calling their group evil was bar pr ..

My favorite is Dr Boom's comment during the Flark boss, "Hurry and blow this place up before he blows this place up!"

  • Ending play sessions of HS on a high note

About half a year ago I noticed that was often angry or annoyed after jamming a couple of games of Hearthstone. After thinking about for a while I concluded that is was not because of meta or the deck I was playing, since it happened to me even in brawls and when I switched to a different deck. Since then I started to organize my play sessions in the following way: Set a number of games I want to win (usually 1-3} and play until I hit it.

Obviously, it is not a perfect system since you often have limited time to play HS (on train etc.) and sometimes you just want to win a brawl, finish a quest, reach a certain rank and the more you lose the longer it takes.

But in general, I found out that trying to win a set number of games I usually ended after resolving a huge Tess, getting good RNG or simply playing a clean and even game against my opponent. My play session even lasted less time since I just stopped after reaching the set number. Later I even started to listen to music while playing and found out that even the losses were enjoyable since they meant I could play another game.

Anyone else does something similar to combat tilting or has a specific way in which they organize they play sessions?

  • June Season Begins - Get The Suramar Card Back!

Been using random card back since introduced, but I do I get this one popping up from time to time. I really like the look of it.

  • Out of Cards is... Great

The two things I used on Hearthpwn were the news thread and the forums. Both are implemented in a great way here! Not to mention the fact that I had a problem with the whole curse membership thing and was unable to link my account even after several attempts. Here everything is much more clean and simple.

  • June Season Begins - Get The Suramar Card Back!

Yet i wholeheartedly dislike this cardback.

So bland, just colors and whirls...

  • Blizzard Clarifies the Upcoming June 3 Rise of the Mechs Update

Her problem is that your opponent gets the discount first. Maybe making her exclude herself from the ability? So you can play a card with her? Or doing something like the first card with CMC 6 or greater / 4 or lower costs 0 so that you can get the initiative on her ability. Problem is that at that point she just becomes a combo piece like the other Aviana. In all honesty, she is just a badly designed card.

  • Netdecking and the real problem it brings

Why a separate topic when you are talking about the very thing the other topic is ..err talking about?

We don't need 10 threads of the same topic.

  • Is Netdecking that bad?

Well if it weren't for Blizzards new deck helper those would be valid points, but the new deck helper makes you able to finish your "deck idea" with some decent choices.

    At least that's my opinion.

Not saying netdecking is bad per se, but I think there is another solution for the arguments given.

I don't think that's how it works though? I'm not sure but I think it works by picking the very best deck available with the cards that you have. There are a couple of different 'layers' that the Deck Helper uses. The first one being the 'Meta Layer' which is an algorithm that looks at the most popular decks being played at your Rank. Then it proceeds to create a deck built around that.

So in effect you are creating a Meta Deck. Just with the cards you have. True its not 'Netdecked' per se but it is as close to a Tier One deck as you can get.

Which wasn't really the point of my OP....

I think that happens when you just hit the deck helper button without any cards. If you put in 10-15 cards (in your op including the treasure cheat) and have no idea on how to continue the deck helper will give you other synergetic cards (where the winrate is not horrible). At least that's how I understood the deck helper works.

    WELLLLL....

The deck doesn't really hunt down synergies.  It isn't that smart.

The deck is focused on win rate.  It tries to make the best winning deck you can using the cards you added in.  This is why adding 1-3 cards doesn't change the actual deck it suggests, because "the best deck + 3 bad cards is till the best deck".

To get a different deck, you have to put in cards where 'the generic best deck' can't work well with the cards you added.  At around 10 cards, it becomes VERY hard to make a deck that ignores your cards work so it's going to end up with a deck that actually uses the cards you added in.  The better the cards and synergies, the faster it hits the point when it hits that point.

So it's a very basic mentality that just happens to work out for what people will tend to want.  If you aren't putting many cards in, you probably are just after a good deck.  If you have most of the deck filled, you want cards that fit with the deck you made.

The only way this fails is the "make a deck around THIS card" mentality.

Note that the entire concept is "find the deck everyone else is doing well with."  The deck helper isn't an alternative to netdecking. It's Netdecking Easy Mode.

As far as netdecking, that's not something you can force not happen.  Like the deck helper, whatever limits you put into the game doesn't prompt creativity and uniqueness: just a new meta.  Ban every used card and you'll create a meta different from the main meta, but it'll still be A meta and whatever decks come from it will be netdecked and played over and over.  Just like how no matter what cards you put into the deck helper, whatever deck it'll make it'll KEEP making over and over.  Even if you put some complicated rules, all players will do is game the rules to the detriment of everyone else.

Choosing to change things up for the sake of changing things has to be a choice by the players involved.  You can't force people to do it. The best you can do is a whitelist, so that only those who play the way you like are together playing the way you want.

  • Netdecking and the real problem it brings

The only issue I have is virtually all creativity is lost in HS now. Remember when the first few weeks of an expansion yielded tons of new decks? Now that they give streamers cards a few days before everyone else a lot of the “experimenting” becomes copy-pasting starting day 1 rather than later down the road

  • Netdecking and the real problem it brings

Netdecking is the hot topic and has been since netdecks became a thing. Everyone says they hate it and don't do it yet I can guarantee that 90% of those do with the caveat that they changed a few cards to make it their own deck. That's still netdecking.

In my opinion and I speak only for myself, netdecking is fine. It's a good way to get a deck up and going and jumping into the ladder.     When there is a healthy meta netdecking is fine as there is enough variety of meta decks out there and it's entertaining. The problem we have now is a very limited amount of decks in the meta so it is stale and the real issue - very predictable. We know exactly what cards the opponent has and what order they will be played and we can easily counter that.  Netdecks are an issue now as there aren't many of them and we're playing the exact same decks over and over and know just what's going to happen. It's the argument Kibler used for the issue with Odd and Even decks. This may not even be a netdecking issue but just the overall issue with Hearthstone now. We have a lot of months till the next xpac comes out and the buffs aren't all that great to shake anything up.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

So I got bored of not being able to play a descent deck and complete dailies. Dusted my collection to make a tempo rogue deck.

[Hearthstone Card (Rogue nerf) Not Found] .............

Here feeling like a salt lake. Fuck sake rookie mistakes. Now what start a new account?

  • Pro tip: With Murloc Shaman being so prevalent in the current meta, adding 1-2 Consecration to the deck is a good idea ;-)

  • June Season Begins - Get The Suramar Card Back!

Thanks guys for the awesome content!

    Long live Out of Cards!

  • Out of Cards is... Great

    It's definately growing on me.

  • All the Possible Options for Dalaran Heist Card Bundles By Class

    Very helpful thank you!

  • Custom Deck Type Label

Going to get Unknown labels added for each of the classes which should help with this.

If there are some mainstream archetypes we are missing though, we can very easily add them onto the site for people to make use of.

Hearthpwn was REALLY slow. The client side scripts were slow, but the server side stuff was also hellishly slow.

Please don't add any features that would cause this site to run as slowly as Hearthpwn.

Won't be an issue. If we add stuff that needs more processing power, we'll spin up more power. The goal is to keep things as lean as possible while having a rich set of features.

HearthPwn's main problem is it is using a horrible codebase that is relatively ancient. People not being given the opportunity to improve said code meant all the sites running on it were shit-tastic. We're building from the ground up to make sure stuff is as fast as possible and not relying on shit tech.

It's going to take us longer but the end result will be a feature-rich community that can actually grow and flourish. The HearthPwn solution was to throw money at the problem as the site became more problematic to run as far as backend performance was concerned.
