If you're just here to jump on me with "git gud" or other things, stuff it.

For the rest of you, welcome! Here's why the title.

Runeterra, card economy is supremely valuable. Any card that gives you the card advantage is supremely valuable. Ruination is that on steroids.

It's never a bad draw. Ever. Either you're already winning on the battlefield in which case you're good. If you're not, it's a complete wipe of the board. And unless the opponent has been playing slow (giving just more opportunity for the ruination deck to draw said card) you'll kill pretty much everything they have.

The two exceptions are if the opponent has managed to pummel your nexus down and is playing a Piltover direct damage deck it stops an opponent dead. Since there aren't spell decks in Runeterra. (Yes, there are ones that focus more on spells but they're all still also creature focused.) Or if they have Deny the (literally) one card in the entire game that counters it. 

It only costs 9. That's by sixth turn. And unless the opponent is playing a facedeck you'll get there.

Also, it's shadow isles, easy to put together a deck that is literally meant to throw away it's own units (or automatically get them back on death.)

I'm all for balancing things, I just can't think of any way to make Ruination not stupidly overpowered. Making it cost 13 would help, but it'd still be a soft "I win" button.

1. Pirate aggro (burn)

2. Plunder midrange (gangplank)

3. Nami Tf (combo)

4. Scouts (rally)

5. Annie/Swain TF (control)

Thats five top tier decks in one region identity with the last of which only recently having been nerfed but it still very strong and playable in my opinion just getting pushed out by shadow  grandma bunny a little bit.

Regardless even with the current count at 4 (5 for me ) top tier decks all coexisting within the Bilgewater region identity it begs the question is it just too good, and has it been too good for too long and will it ever stop being so pervasive?

Like its possible everyone is okay with Bilgewater and the Rising Tides expansion being the face of LOR but personally I do find that it exists as too much of a one stop shop at the moment.

Here are a few of its current problems that make it the best/easier region in the game to succeed or pilot right now:

1. Burn potential - six mana deal 4, spawn 3 deal 2 is a little too strong (3 of in pirate aggro, and plunder, can probably go in scouts, and is a 3 of in my Annie tf list)

2. Card draw potential 5 mana draw 2 spawn 2 I literally run as a 3 of in deep for God sakes, because it can burst block, burst attack while maintaining card advantage

3. Tempo, 1 mana summon a 3/3, 2 mana summon 4/2 of stats across 2 bodies, 4 mana scout and a million cycle bodies.

4. Elusives, way back in the day you used to run this archetype in Ionia but now it's Nami as your one stop shop

5. Amazing Chmpions, this is the real nail in the coffin or the Z Virus gene that keeps the oldest region in Runeterra evergreen in the meta to the point of dominating the meta. Mf, Tf, Gangplank babeeee never gonna die.

I think its probably time the LOR devs to think to themselves yes rising tides was an awesome expansion, people liked it, good times had by all, but has it been played out. 

Can we start exploring the dominance of other regions, like what about poor targon? I won't say Shurima cuz it does a few things so well that it's actually a pain to play against, and finally I like bandlewood there I said it sue me.

Very simple prompt.

1. One person proposes a combination of two classes and the next person must create a dual card for those classes.
2. The person who makes a card has to propose two new classes.
3. You can also enforce a a card type to the mix (minions, spells...) although it's not mandatory.

I'll start by asking for a dual Mage-Warrior card :)

Here are a few interactions (per the title) I wanted to share and see what people think. Or you can add any similar interactions you've noticed.

I played Thrive in the Shadows with an opposing Far Watch Post on the board, and the card I discovered went up in mana. This seems wrong to me, as nowhere on the card does it say that I am "drawing" this card. Intended or bugged?

When a mage swaps spell costs with Barbaric Sorceress then plays a 1-cost Rune of the Archmage, the Grey Sage Parrot should not be able to recast that spell (my opinion). That spell originally cost 9, but when they played it, they only spent 1. Feels a little cheaty.

This last one is from Mercenaries, so feel free to skip (I know not nearly as many people play Mercs). I had Mr. Smite on board with Overboard activated. My opponent's Tidemistress Athissa cast Riptide on my Edwin. What ensued was a literally endless series of attacks, as every time Smite attacked, Athissa hit Edwin (who went WAY into negative health), causing Smite to strike again. He ended up clearing the entire enemy board, even killing Queen Azshara through her resurrection. Kinda feels like that shouldn't have happened.

Let me start by saying I enjoy combos: it's super fun to assemble your pieces, fend off the enemy, then administer the coup de grace. I also think that combo disruption is important for the game.

I think Mutanus the Devourer is a perfect and well-balanced combo disruptor: he can only hit minions (he can do nothing about a Purified Shard already in hand, a game-winning Bloodlust, or any hero card you care to mention), he is expensive, and he chooses a random target. Using Mutanus to stop an enemy combo requires a lot of luck, a lot of mana, and some decent hand-reading. And perhaps best of all, he was part of a mini-set, making him easier to collect than most other legendaries.

I hate Theotar, the Mad Duke. He is inexpensive, allows you to choose a target, can steal ANY card (not just minions), and worst of all, he allows your enemy to use your win condition against you. 

I'll include my super salty story below here as a spoiler for anyone who cares to read it. Otherwise, feel free to respond to the opinions above. Agree? Disagree? Let's chat, friends.

As a brewer I make it a dedicated mission to create decks with every champion that can in fact win and put up a solid fight against meta decks.

This is why I can chose to climb with things like Ohrn Jax, as easily as something listed on mobalytics.

But man does Jhin just suck right now. I hate to say it but if he is ever going to be competitively viable again he needs to A (be a brew around stun card) with lotus traps procing stun or be a dedicated burn card with lotus traps doing 2 dmg like a mystic shot (still costs 3 skill procs) or buff his synergy girl to do 2 dmg. 

As it stands right now he is an aggro card with a 50% winrate which by aggro standards is atrocious and as a control card sees zero play.

Plz re-work Jhin Riot because he is actually pretty baller voice lines etc.

Lor has always been a game that has been balanced on a strict design curve.

 No new set whether it be awakening, world waker, bandlewood, shurima or Targon can be or should be better then Bilgewater.

But this creates one very big design problem, aka pirate aggro, always statistically a top tier deck, it has only gotten better and more consistent with time.

Riptide sermon being both an amazing tool for control, burn, and agressive decks and the value of equipment namely fisher girl allowing you to say play an on curve threat but then give mf quick attack.

It can be too much for even the best deck brewers and players to deal with, unless you tech in a crap ton of healing.

So if you ever want to play Lor in a world where pirate doesn't exist say 2 years from now, and as a secondary almost draft environment I don't think that necessarily a terrible idea.

On the flip side however to make rotation the new standard does spit in the face of what makes this game unique which is an ageless power curve.

Tf is a good card, MF is a good card, gangplank is a good card, they will never stop being good cards for as long as there are people willing to play them, that is LOR it's not a card game so much as a permanently viable competitive landscape similar to League of Legends for better or worse thats the game and I love/hate it.

She decided she might as well go for Sloth.

(She killed a Dusk but no evolve, first time I experience that ô.o)

So I was able to get to rank 1 Diamond and maintain a pretty healthy winrate with entirely off meta decks.

But it takes a pretty hard-core person to deal with the onslaught of tryhards in what is turning out to be a pretty unpleasant line up of top tier decks.

Still waiting to see what the next balance patch will bring with things so turbo right now, it's very rare that it feels like you're actually playing a card game and more so Russian roulette where you want to brain yourself.

Still memes are memes and I did pretty well despite all those factors. I'll try again next meta after a very healthy patch.

Welcome to the Raid Leader Format! In Raid Leader, you will have unique deck building challenges to face, along with new strategies in regards to in how you use your Hero Power, and with what cards you will have access to. Think of it as the Commander Format from MTG.

This Format is a sub-format of Standard.

Let's look at the Hero Tray (that's what I'm calling it) so it'll be easier for you to follow along.

In Raid Leader, you only have access to ONE Legendary card and it's Minion who will take the role of being the Raid Leader. After that you will construct a deck with no other Legendary cards. Firemancer Flurgl is a Shaman card, so he will have access to the Standard set of Shaman and Neutral cards when deckbuilding. As you may have noticed Flurgl, along with every other Raid Leader, has 50 health. What you don't see is that Flurgl, as well as every other Raid Leader, starts with 50 cards in the deck. I'll address the Hero Power timer below.

Some of you may have noticed that Flurgl's Hero Power is his passive effect on his card, this is where the uniqueness of Raid Leader comes into play. The Raid Leader's Hero Power will be some slight variation of there base card. Flurgl has to wait at least two turn before he can use his Hero Power, when he does use it, it goes on cooldown for two turns before he can use it again. Each Hero Power Timer is different based on the the Raid Leader, the time to wait is correlated with the base card's cost. Flurgl costs 2 mana, therefore he has to wait two turns before he can use his Hero Power. The Hero Power doesn't cost any mana, which I'm still on the fence as to whether or not that's a good call, I will definitely need OoC's feedback on this one. Earlier when I said there'll be new strategies in regards to your Hero Power, this is what I meant.

Some of you may have noticed that some of the Hero Powers are Passive, again that only becomes active once the timer runs out. What's different for the Passives is that once, they're active, they're always active. A special exception has to be made for Prince Renathal.

Now to address the elephant in the room, the neutrals. The neutral Raid Leaders have special access to all the cards in the (Standard) game, BUT they can only have ONE card per class in their deck. so their decks will consist of 10 class cards (one from each class) and 40 Neutral cards.

I acknowledge that some of these may be over powered or useless, but hey it's a custom concept.

Now will Team 5 ever put something like this into the game? Nope, because they can't sell a Battle Pass with it.
