Wizards of the Coast just published a cool article that gives us some background on the characters we'll be seeing in Theros: Beyond Death.
The story of Theros is a tale for the ages, and one not to be missed. So, as we move through Theros Beyond Death previews, certain cards will come with a bit of flavor, worldbuilding, or important story moments. We'll collect those story moments right here.
Note that for Theros Beyond Death, there are currently no plans for an ebook, so make sure to check out this page throughout preview season.
PREVIOUSLY, ON THEROS . . .
To fight the sun god Heliod, the forge god Purphoros created a sword capable of damaging the divine. The two gods battled, disrupting the celestial resting place of an ancient and powerful hydra: Polukranos, World Eater. Enraged, the hydra stormed through the mortal realm of Theros until it was sealed by Heliod and the hunt god Nylea.
The Planeswalker Elspeth arrived in Theros during the climax of Heliod and Purphoros's battle. She saw Purphoros' sword flung from his hands, and planeswalked away with it. She returned to Theros fifteen years later and faced an angry Heliod. But the god regained his bearings and realized Elspeth could help him, so he reforged the sword into the spear Godsend. Wielding this weapon, Elspeth was able to defeat the newly awakened Polukranos.
Meanwhlie, the satyr Planeswalker Xenagos had hatched a plan to ascend to godhood. By cultivating belief and devotion among his followers, he was able to transcend mortality and join the other gods in their home of Nyx. Xenagos planned to use his new status for ill, so Elspeth vowed to stop him. She journeyed to Nyx and stabbed Xenagos with Godsend, destroying him once and for all.
Fearful of her power and knowledge of the multiverse, Heliod stabbed Elspeth with her very own weapon, which shattered afterwards. Dying, Elspeth's soul became trapped in the Underworld of Erebos where it remains . . . for now.
NOW, WE RETURN TO THEROS . . .

Some personal background here: “Find Lethal” puzzles have always been one of my favorite aspects of card games, and it was initially one of the things I missed most when I pivoted away from Magic: the Gathering. There are already a few cool ones in Mythgard – with the most recent addition from Navy Seagull being particularly devilish!
Be sure and check out the entire article and his Mythgard puzzles HERE.

I guess the title says it all: when I use the deckbuilder most of the times it's just theorycrafting or building up ideas before I get to implement them into the game. For that reason, most of the times I prefer to keep the decks to myself, to just have a private list of decks I'm working on. I remember on the HPwn site there was the possibility to turn the "Unlisted" option on. Is it possible to have it here in the near future as well? Because I really find this site much snappier and mobile friendly, but I really can't save wip decks like this.
Thanks for the consideration, and a really good job for the site, I find it has a really big potential!

This is a good point, and from the outside I can imagine this being confusing or frustrating.
Underlying everything we communicate is the principle that we don't want to promise anything that we won't be able to deliver on. I think we've all experienced that as players, and Riot also has had to learn that lesson as developers.
As we're finishing our core game features for Launch, we also have to develop the capabilities to release those at quality, at scale, reliably and consistently. As more of the game is complete, we'll be able to more confidently predict when we'll have releases ready for players. But until then we're mostly just comfortable with the types of broad strokes that you've seen in our roadmap.
Exact dates WILL come, but we're not quite ready to announce anything yet.
I'm not going to confirm dates for you but I will say we are here, watching, reading, and working hard to make sure you can play your hearts out. We get happy every time we see players asking to play more. There's a lot of work to do to make sure we do well for even more players. Alas I will leave you with a "Soon ™"!

Make sure you participate in the Game Awards event featuring Ashiok and Elspeth in MTG Arena. It's available through 12/16 and you can earn 1 pack of Theros: Beyond Death (to open upon release) for each win, up to 3 packs. You also get to play with some cards that are normally unavailable, most notably a few of the legendary "Power Nine".

There are also a few honorable mentions in the pre-constructed decks too.

I tried both decks and they seemed pretty evenly matched. I had some trouble getting started, because multiple times it just seemed like I was outmatched by an opponent who had perfect answers. I switched decks and instead of astounding starts and ridiculous curves I continued to draw absolute garbage. After a little bit of persistence everything came out okay in the end and I walked away with 3 Theros: Beyond Death packs to put in my virtual stocking.

Don't be surprised if you face Ashiok decks that draw loads of additional cards or use removal on every single unit you put on the board, or you could find yourself up against the wall with white weenie tokens wildly swinging equipment in your face by your second turn. I'd love to see more events like this, which allow you to use unavailable cards in updated scenarios. Which deck turned out to be your favorite?

While it blows my mind that they thought that the expansion could launch in its current state, hopefully the action will be brutal and decisive. I've found it hard to even log in during the last few days which is pretty depressing given that this is typically the most fun part of the cycle. Fingers crossed that this puts things right.

Hi,
First things first, I am _not_ complaining about the existence (or of even the amount of) ads!
Recently whilst browsing through your website, I noticed a weird trend in the ads that got displayed to me, as a lot of them were advertising books from a certain publisher in Germany ("Kopp Verlag") that has a.... Not so nice reputation.
I'm not going into my issues with this publisher any further as this might (sadly enough) start some political discussions which (in my humble opinion) do not need to take place in the forum's for a card game.
I assume that you do not have much of a decision on what your ad provider displays to me personally, but it puts your website, with good content which I like to visit regularly since it started in a sort of bad light... So... I don't know just wanted to let you guys know and maybe you can talk to your ad Provider to stop advertising right wing literature on you website? ^^"
PS.: So far it actually only happens on this site...

So I got tired to reading all the hate that people have had about Galakrond Shaman and decided to try playing it and ... WOW... that hate is pretty well deserved.
I went into the deck completely blind and missing one Dragon's Pack, and I went on a 7 game winning streak. I know that typically, the initial hate for a class goes to Hunter. As a person that is adamantly against Hunter, I'm always up for Hunter being nerfed to the point where the class is eliminated. But that is me.
I honestly wanted to take the stance of, "This is just the initial release and there is always hate against the more aggro decks because combo and control has yet to be established." But man, that deck has a lot of synergy and flows really well.
That being said, I honestly don't think that any one particular card would hinder the way that the deck functions. I have read a number of threads where people are putting all the hate on 1-3 cards. But really, the fact that you can summon a few 2/1 rush minions to help control the board, along with all the stuff that thunderhead can produce is kind of sickening.
I just had to throw my astonishment out there to let those that hate the initial deck have valid concerns.. That's all
[deck]10884[/deck] The deck is fairly tricky to play well. There have been decks out there with similar styles, however they usually don’t have Zerek and do add a Galakrond package. I found this version to be more consistent.

Hey everyone,
I have a feeling Dragon Mage will be a viable deck post-Shaman nerfs. The most likely variant is probably going to Highlander due to Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, Reno the Relicologist and Zephrys the Great being phenomenal cards. However, just to test the waters, I'm going with a good old Conjuror Dragon Mage. Here is my version:

Feel free to post your Dragon Mage decks, I'm looking forward to some nifty versions. Like a spell-heavy version with Dragoncasters, or strong Highlanders.

Omnislash has been around for several years creating content for Hearthstone with streamers like Kibler, Firebat, and Zalae, among others, but they've decided to shift gears.
To better focus our efforts, we are transitioning away from content creation and streamer representation, and will be committing all of our efforts to a data platform for players of all types.
For now they are going to be focusing on data tools for gamers/streamers. It's sad to see them go, but I'm interested to see what they create for us.
We have things like [card]2341[/card] that are all tribes in one, but do you think we will ever see dual- or mult-tribe cards. Like an Elemental-Dragon, or a Pirate-Murloc ? I think it would be cool thematically.
