I just want to see the second-in-command I picked (over Kayn) in Hearthstone. I'm trying to make this is a "solid" card, not creative or mind-blowing by any means. The ideas:
1) Rush, because DHs are aggressive and proactive.
2) Altruis the Sufferer believes that Illidan has become the very thing Demon Hunters have sworn to destroy, so he left (and has since reconciled with) the Illidari back in The Burning Crusade. I strongly considered making him a Hero Card to actually replace Illidan, but Illidan's power eclipses Altruis's, so I don't think he could usurp the Betrayer. In his exile, he befriended a Netherdrake named Nethrandamus, which I wanted to incorporate via his Outcast effect.
3) Nethrandamus is very swift, so I wanted to give it either Rush or Charge, but I also wanted Altruis himself to have Rush. With Charge, Altruis can clear a key minion or a Taunt and let Nethrandamus punch face, or, of course, both can be used as removal.
4) No particular reason why I chose Boomsday, except that it involved Netherstorm which is in Outland.
5) I had no idea how to create/balance Nethrandamus as a summoned token, meaning I didn't know what Mana cost to give it, what rarity, should it have a Boomsday watermark (as it's non-collectible, I thought "nope"), etc. I just used a Flame of Azzinoth (HEH) as a baseline. I hope it's allowed, given the "we've given you space for up to one token for this competition" rule. I don't know because I haven't participated in past competitions.
A Warlock's demons are slaves. A DH's demons are allies (assuming they have enough intelligence to choose; some demons are just too bestial or straight up mechanical to do anything other than what they're ordered to do).
At this point, I think we can safely assume it's part of their class identity. It's something I thought they never really captured with Warlock. Fel magic is destruction incarnate, and it's chaotic. In Warlock, they've focused on the "powerful, but hurts you or your minions when you use it" aspect of Fel. In DH, they're focusing on "so much raw destructive power that it's hard to control", which fits in with the brutally aggressive (not in the card game sense) personality of most Demon Hunters. DHs train very hard to control the demon within, which refers to metamorphosizing into actual demons and possibly losing control if they use too much Fel magic.
Yeah, I know it doesn't mean anything from a "is this good or bad for gameplay" perspective. Just pointing out why DH has a lot of it. From what I've seen so far, I don't mind. DH is shaping up to be a solid midrange class, so all this chip damage should help me and my minions keep the enemy board clear. I was that guy who loved Flamewaker.
Didn't jump on the Hearthtrain until TGT, so it's nice to see what people's initial reactions were! And Brode looks different than what I remember, though maybe that's because I haven't seen him in years.
With Mountain Giant rotating, almost all of the Giants are gone. Terrible card!
Seriously, it sounds pretty good. The flexibility is nice even for faster Shaman decks that might use it to remove a big Taunt or key minion. But, of course, it's more likely to find a place in slower decks.
Yep, I'd rather see one of the five cards they chose go. Edwin can be a problem when it's a 8/8+ on Turn 3, but that doesn't happen every game, and there's only one chance to do it each game.
Twitch Chat will always be Rank 25 in my heart, but this system hopefully provides a bit more engagement each month (to get (back) to Legend), avoids experienced players matching up against newer players, and feels more rewarding. On paper, it's definitely more rewarding - more packs! More cards! But I'm talking about how hard it'll be (and I know it's not "hard", it just takes time, so let's say how much time it'll take) to get Legend.
Well, the best part is we don't have to wait very long for the official confirmation. Reminder that they're livestreaming tomorrow! (At 3 PM UTC, pretty sure). If this is legit, I'm pretty excited, but I still need to see how they're gonna improve the F2P experience.
Oof, missed that. I just assumed they wouldn't be using the Year of the Dragon characters for a while (AKA focusing on something new), but reprising the structure seemed like a no-brainer to me. Not a huge negative, though; the expansions before last year were mostly fine both thematically and mechanically.

Fluffy Elemental? More like Dusty Elemental.
I really appreciate the condensed reveal season. It's been nice seeing so many cards each day.
Hunter can't even count to 10 (Mana). Too expensive.

Free 5 face damage (if it survives for 2 turns)? Sounds good to me!
Yeah, inb4 we see Optimotron and Optimotron Prime.
Heh, this guy roxx.
Fittingly bad card for a boss that fell over in 20 pulls.
TIME TO GET A MILLENNIUM WINS.
Please no 0 Mana Secrets for Rogue, that's all I ask. Let's see what, if any, new Secrets are coming in Ashes.

Just a typo, he meant Thuersday.
