Blizzard taints their card reveal seasons with asinine bullshit and it makes no sense. We're already getting cards with the wrong stats, old cards mixed in with new (they addressed this saying well some people might not have seen the other cards), and the countdowns all being wrong because Blizzard doesn't understand how timezones work.
There are so many other ways they can hype stuff up. Putting out old cards masquerading as new ones isn't it.
Twitter was great when there were people talking about random topics and chronological news. You'd go and see what going on in #Warcraft or such and maybe have a conversation with randos. Now? Political cesspool, regurgitated spam, and with Twitter not even showing you everything you follow, what's the point?
I totally understand why the landscape changed, people learned to more effectively monetize the platform, but damn I miss the old days.
The page load delays are still happening after the update :(
At least pages loads :P
There are some slow load times in places right now and they're being investigated. The site actually being online though is more important than load times.
There has been a partial rollback due to some data integrity issues. If anyone lost any comments or decks, I apologize. To say our migration could have gone smoother is quite the understatement!
For Hearthstone folks, our content should be going live soon for the new expansion. I'll be starting work shortly on making Death Knights and such work with the site as well. We've got a long list of things to get out so thank you for your patience.
This is an announcement to let everyone know that Out of Cards will be down on Halloween night at 11 PM Eastern. Spooky!
We're doing a major migration to new hardware to help improve site performance and make way for a large site update. This will also give us more room to grow going forward as our previous solution has been at its limits for a while now.
Estimated downtime is less than an hour, but no matter how many tests you do, real-world may take longer.
During our downtime, all services operated on Out of Cards will not be available.
Yo for real though, Halloween Cosmetics get me every damn time in every game.
I do like that they're giving big discounts for cosmetics if you just play the game, which is a great way to keep the queues quick. I do worry that some people aren't going to fully understand it though and end up getting screwed over due to the RNG nature of it and them being very casual. Will need to wait and see their in-game messaging on it though - which hasn't been a strength of Hearthstone ever.
I am certain we won't see a new class unless it happens at the start of a year. Rotation is when they get the most eyes on the game, and it gives them a chance to give a new class a fighting chance without creating a bunch of cards for them that are just going to rotate as every class would have 50+ cards more than a base "Death Knight". That's why they had to do the Demon Hunter Initiate set; A late-year DK release means they have to account for two extra expansions.
Next year though? I still think we'll see Monk before Death Knight.
I was definitely in the boat of "I'd love to just buy cards" but the current system feels good enough. Pacing on unlocks has been alright, but I do know that players later on talk about it slowing down so if I end up in that realm, maybe I won't be as happy.
I've only ever bought a battle pass, never felt like I needed to be buying a ton of gold bars to have fun with the game - Hearthstone's Runestones on the other hand...
If anyone is having an issue with Cloudflare's anti-ddos and anti-bot protection, and only in a certain browser, there's nothing we're able to do about it. For whatever reason, Cloudflare has determined it can't go any further with the sign-in. This could be a misbehaving browser addon or something configured in your browser that is abnormal.
If you have JavaScript disabled, or adblock, it's possible either of these could be interfering with it.
Sorry for the trouble, but this check on our login and registration pages has cut down on spam enormously, which makes our lives a lot easier. I wish there was something we could do to make this work, but I'm going to have to trust Cloudflare on this one because they protect millions of websites and the integrity check is definitely used on a good chunk of them without issue - and plenty of folks are still able to login at that!
Honestly though, there might be some decent value in it for aftermarket sales while acquiring some other cards for personal use. Getting some mint oldschool lands would be such a cool addition to the card collection and would be fun to use in sleeved decks.
With them being non-tourney legal though, I was expecting this to be much cheaper. Definitely a premium, but with cards having changes on them, in a lot of cases these are just going to end up as "official proxies" so making them more affordable woulda been nice.
Yeah, Secret Rogue just needs to become a core mechanic.
I like that they are doing a team thing, will lead to more interesting answers, but damn do I hate the crazy handles all over the replies and when the "dumb" questions are asked, all of them pile on. I think it's great to get to know the team more, we saw a lot of that flavor in Dean's Q&A sessions, but it would be nice if they responded to "real" questions too.
Also, the amount of responses that were just GIFs was a bit silly.
I had some things to take care of and will be slowly getting back into the swing of things over the next week. I will be absent though the week after, for definitely not World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King things.
I've got a lot of things to get realigned with our Out of Cards (and more) efforts and due to that I'll likely not be as present in the news unless urgent stuff needs to get out and folks aren't around. I wish there were more hours in the day to do everything. I like doing everything!
What a way to end the week. Plenty of folks have been leaving Blizzard over the past few years so I'm never surprised when I see leaving announcements on Fridays, but this one was a little unexpected, but also not entirely.
Dean hasn't been as active recently and when you see activity drop, there's usually a good reason for it. He's also been on the Hearthstone team for an eternity and at some point, you do want to move on.
I'm aiming to get an update in this weekend to change our deckbuilder back to older functionality. We made a change that overall should have only sped-up the deckbuilder but unfortunately this ended up being not the case. It's certainly a shame because a lot of time was spent on it but it looks like some machines and browsers just aren't a fan of indexeddb support, despite being a web standard and working across the board with the exception of people on Firefox Permanent Private Browsing Mode, which is a very niche group of people using it, which is already a niche of users using Firefox.
So yeah, aiming for something late Sunday more than likely. If not Sunday, definitely Monday, the day before Castle Nathria launches.
No, I'm quite serious about it.

280 now, but yeah, Twitter is shit.

You're very dumb.

I'm aware of the issue at it will be resolved in an upcoming update.

Collecting is a helluva drug.

I really like that they kept it consistent. It makes it very easy for someone coming from another game to know what it means.

That is correct!
Thanks for the welcome back =)

Fixed the issue, may take a moment to go through though due to cache.
I also moved this thread to the correct forum and updated the title to be more descriptive of the issue.
Thanks for the report!
It's not a core title here, but if there's something cool we pick up on we'll post about it =)
