Agreed, Mutate definitely looks like it will be an absolute blast! Lack of summoning sickness is a little worrying though lol.
I'm a little iffy on the "commander" cards being added through the Companion mechanic, I think it might be a bit too powerful, but Wizards is above average when it comes to card game balance and we haven't see the full set of cards yet so I'll revisit that thought later on.
I've released a small update to the deckbuilder for this. Standard itself will filter these cards just as they're about to release next week, but right now you can use the new "Year of the Phoenix" filter found under "game format".
There was something absolutely insane I wanted to do for this year's April fools day, but it would have taken at least 2-3 months of development to be really good. I wish the time was there!
It was, though there may have been an issue which prevented some from seeing it and instead a blank spot was in its place. I made a tweak so it didn't do that anymore.
Yeah, it is very exciting that the rewards are additive. This is probably the most confusing part about the system from discussions I've seen on it. "Why would I move up when I'm getting a pack of 5 cards?"
I suspect the old Rank 5 floor will now be Diamond 10. The way I've looked at it is your old Rank 25 is now Bronze 10 and every 10 ranks is 5 in the old system. They added in additional floors halfway through each league so that it would be less painful if you went on large losing streaks. It definitely doesn't covert perfectly though considering there are now more stars than ever before to grind through (150 compared to 100), so it'll be interesting to see how the ladder fills in though over the next month.
They specified they are standard cards in the announcement. I kept it vague because I wasn't certain if that was also the case for wild, though I suspect that it is.
Artifact had a lot of problems and Valve agreed. The game did become unplayable for $20 since no one was playing the game. Investing time into games that don't have any players makes for poor value.
I'm looking forward to their future announcements on the game to see if it is worth a shot at again. Unique gameplay was good, accessibility to the game itself not so much. If you want to succeed in the space, you've already got the titans you have to match or exceed.
This year is off to an amazing start! With how well they've been tuning the game over the past year, I only see green fields in the future for Hearthstone which if you had of asked me a couple of years ago, I would have said they were headed in a very bad direction and likely weren't going to fix it.
I'm happy they made changes and are actually responding to feedback properly. It only took them half a decade.
Unfortunately, Blizzard didn't include us in the giveaways this time around which is why we're only doing the 2 55-pack bundles and it was so delayed. I held out to see if we'd get anything and then got in touch last week just to confirm we weren't going to be getting anything so we could run one on our own.
Kinda bummed out about it, but I'm quite thankful they included us for the last several major releases.
Just for record's sake, this isn't a commitment to covering Artifact on the site, though we'll definitely put up a forum for those interested in talking about it. This was just major enough news that it warranted an article.
We may do this for other titles as well occasionally when large things happen.
I don't like this thread. I don't like it because this is a tough one.
Beastmaster Leoroxx - I love playing Hunter and I believe he's going to be very strong.
Evocation - I'm a sucker for Mage and the golden art is incredible. I love the idea of playing a bunch of spells without needing crazy card draw. Of course with my luck, I'll get 5 Pyroblasts and won't be able to play anything.
Reliquary of Souls - Res Priest y'all! If you can get this thing living for a turn, you can give it some nice buffs which should be fun in the early game. The Prime though, Reliquary Prime, is where the real fun begins. A really sticky minion, your opponent is going to be forced to make some unfavorable trades into it, or blow crazy board clear. I'm glad I finally started to love Priest last year because I think I would have overlooked this card otherwise.
Yeah, I don't even want to know how expensive one of these are going to be.
Perhaps "new cards" was a bad way of putting it.

We've got a new "Year of the Phoenix" filter available under game formats now. Please use it!
Standard will be changed over to use the new meta sets right before the expansion goes live.
Heya!
I've released a small update to the deckbuilder for this. Standard itself will filter these cards just as they're about to release next week, but right now you can use the new "Year of the Phoenix" filter found under "game format".
Hope this helps!

Do you have a Blizzard source on this? I haven't come across anything on it.

No real need for the language here tbh.

That does indeed count.
The compendium will be happening right before the expansion launches. Giving ourselves the best chance for a large amount of votes.
You should check out the Descent of Dragons one if you haven't yet! (Though I do notice it shows Demon Hunter on it - that's a mistake)

Yup, only Ashes of Outland. If it is on the Ashes of Outland guide page, it is in the giveaway. It is less confusing with the DH sets excluded.
That would be rad.
Same! Anytime something moves I get so excited. I think it is underused.
