If I'm reading the quote correctly, they won't start distributing them until after the deadline (May 7th) has passed. Don't worry, you'll still get one.
I believe it means that if you already have 2-3 Ashes, the extras you get will reroll to some other Champion you don't have three copies of. I don't think the protection counts for the Rares and Commons, but won't mind if that ends up being the case.
I can imagine The Tuskraider getting a nerf at some point, the value it creates is ridiculous. It all comes down to how reliably one can trigger Plunder.
I wonder if other regions will get "Champion ships" now that Sejuani has The Tuskraider and Swain has The Leviathan. I'd be surprised if Bilgewater doesn't get one, but the other regions might have some flavor issues preventing that.
How do I change my avatar? Rly not big on this goofy unicorn being my representative.

I embraced the darkness and finished my Legend grind with Secret Mage. I swapped to it from Odd Demon Hunter after the nerfs at diamond 2 and fell back to diamond 4 so it didn't start too well either. I also had some zero progress days but then breezed through the last 5-6 games in win streak (mostly because my opponents weren't drawing well) so I guess my cliche-ic advice is stick to a deck even if it sometimes looks it's going nowhere. Cubelock was a horror matchup for me so I'd imagine it's also very capable of doing the thing.
Has riot confirmed this is a stand alone card and not just a token form Grizzled Ranger?
I was under the impression that it was just a token but then I noticed the rarity gem. I checked Escaped Abomination (and Valor) to confirm that tokens don't have a gem, so it looks like it's collectible.
I'm interested to see if the premium stats will make up for the lack of effects. My guess would be no but then again when played on-curve, it's almost certainly going to trade for two cards (unit+unit or unit+spell).
The wording implies that any Hearthstone channel will do, but I'd play it safe and watch the PlayHearthstone stream or a stream of one of the participants.
I just took it from HSReplay for a news post so no plans of updating this particular deck. However, I did end up playing this one quite a bit with K1ngMrglMrgl's modifications below (as I also kept drawing Patches while playing another aggro DH). I'm somewhat surprised that you found Quest Mage an easy matchup, my winrate against them was clearly below 50% (it's pretty much all about how well they draw though).
If I were to try to edit the deck somehow, I'd likely try out either Hench-Clan Thug or Vicious Fledgling as replacements for the nerfed 3-drops. I've also seen some variants run a natural copy of Mana Burn but I'm not sure how I feel about that.
I knew I forgot to mention something: by clicking the i-icons in tournament brackets you can access all decklists from this weekend. For example justsaiyan's decks can be accessed from this matchup.
From the blog: "...watch 2 total hours of any Hearthstone stream on Twitch to get 1 Ashes of Outland card pack. Watch for 4 hours (consecutive or non-consecutive) to get another one!"
For me, that wording implies that the only requirement is to watch something that's under Hearthstone-category in Twitch so even streamers that aren't participating for this event would be an acceptable choice. I'd still play it safe and pick one of the streamers listed in the blog or just watch the main stream.
Statwise he's clearly the best hero out there. He is very strong especially in the early game, for example if you bought a token-creating minion as your first choice, you could sell the token and buy another minion. At 6 gold other heroes were able to buy 2 minions, Millhouse was able to buy 3 (or 2 with a refresh for better options). That helps a lot when trying to reach top 4.
They will still stream Grandmasters, those games are part of their new system for the league. For the first three weeks, the competition starts with off-stream (yeah I don't know why either) Swiss portion, which then leads to top 8 dual eliminations, which is the part they'll show to us. That does mean that we won't be seeing any matches from half of them though, which is kinda...interesting, should I say.
I also once got their board cleared and dropped Reno after early aggression and was confident that the game was over. After some 10 turns I was finally able to take the win, they still got very close. The class has insane amount of damage in it.
Don't worry, we already have that (with some other posts) lined up. Just want to space out the content a bit more instead of dumping all the info in quick succession.

The card wording would also imply that: "Play" for the base version and "I play" for the leveled up.
Correct, only one ladder counts as first time.

No packs for watching Grandmasters, I'm afraid.

I should probably change that to make the images more uniform now that Blizzard has put up the official Grandmasters portraits.
From Week 4 onwards they'll stream all the games. Just the three initial weeks have the Swiss portion that won't be streamed.
Quite impressive level up animation, have to admit.
