I'm ashamed to admit that until seeing this blown up art of Leeroy, I thought he just wore really weird orange glasses. Of course, his face would be skin colored... why did I never question this?

Indeed. The system looks at the cards which you've opened, not the cards which you currently have.

There are prolly going to be players in a few months who, not understanding how pack openings work, disenchant an alright card for the dust and then wonder why it's not coming back. Frankly, I wish they'd coded normal pack openings by looking at your current collection and just restricted nerfed cards somehow whenever they came around. That would be much more intuitive and helpful.

The Mage or the Rogue, for sure.

I have a sad little chuckle thinking about the players that have been away for only 3 months and 20 days. Is there even a way to check how long it's been since you were online? That would be very, very helpful right now for some...

I can't wait until they print the Feet, Torso, and Other Hand of Gul'dan. Then Hearthstone will finally have Exodia... for killing yourself. DRAW 36 CARDS!

    Man, what a lopsided dynamic!

Dean wanted to show off the cards. You could just tell that he was proud of what Team 5 has created and had a lot to say, but Kripp was more interested in trying to win than discussing the new cards. Dean would ask questions about how Kripp felt about cards, but besides jokes, it never went the other way around. And speaking of jokes - so much sarcasm from Kripp that went over Dean's head or strategy jokes for which you could tell Dean just didn't care to have a response for.

I don't blame Kripp so much, as this was likely much less structured due to quarantine, but this has been one of the less fun reveal streams. It's tough to get the same fun, buddy-buddy physical energy when you're not able to interact with your co-streamer in person.

Is it not a basic card?

Its fist? I see it now, but yeesh, I thought that was some sea serpent's spiny thorax.

I might not be averse to running one of these in a King Phaoris or C'Thun Druid, perhaps, to make playing my big boy feel safer. But the most important facet of the card is, as others note, the mana reduction.

It's a serviceable card, but most of the time, there are far better cards out there.

Given the wording, I assume this applies even for Librams generated after Aldor Truthseeker is played, which is quite strong. Even just one makes Libram of Wisdom free for the game, not to mention cards generated from Lady Liadrin

I assumed that the system looks at your collection when you open a pack and sees which cards you have and which cards you don't. That seems like the only way to handle this without causing player frustration, to be honest. Why hardcode it to just the cards which you've opened?

Edit: You guys are right. "Once this change goes live, you will no longer receive more than two copies of any Common, Rare, or Epic until you have owned two copies of all cards of that rarity in a set. Crafting a card counts towards acquiring it, and any cards you acquire and later disenchant (whether golden or non-golden) count as well." is the official language.

    Welp, that sucks.

I wonder how Anima Golem works with Dormant minions?

For classes like Priest or Paladin with a turn 4 board clear or classes like Shaman with strong turn 4 minions, this could work out. Play it in the early game, tank some damage, and then use this and your clear/minions to wipe out the opponent's advantage. Voila - maybe you've just used only several cards to defeat more cards, giving you a leg up on the game. For that kind of strategy to work, though, I think it needs more cards that can fit with it, for consistency's sake.

I do love how these Dormant cards affect decision-making. Hopefully some end up being played.

Are there any rewards that we can get through the in-Gathering Tavern Brawls, or is the main benefit of this being able to open your packs early?

This can actually be used to set up some neat combos. Spend seven mana to set your Brann Bronzebeard dormant on turn 8, for instance, and on turn 10 you'll have a guaranteed double C'Thun. That's just the simplest example.

Otherwise, it's a great quasi-Spellbreaker. The upside can be very punishing for your opponent, but you need to know that you can commit to finishing them off before two turns are up. I like that interaction - for the dormant'd person, there's still hope, there's still a goal to fight for. It makes for tense moments.

I'm a great advocate of our Lord and Savior Yogg-Saron, and an avid user of Wild Big Spell Scroll of Wonder Mage, but this is too much even to me.

RNG cards aren't innately bad. They can be quite fun. BUT this card is too powerful, and RNG is heavily saturated in Mage. This is a solid last-minute dig for fast decks, slow decks, and even combo decks - Cyclone Mage is giggling at the thought of having a full hand at-will, and the Wild Quest... I don't even want to think about it. Anybody that can put this card in a deck will put this card in a deck. And with regard to RNG saturation, the other new Mage legendary, Reno, and Yogg's Puzzle Box all exist. Will every game played against Mage for the next few years be decided by powerful bursts of RNG?

Additional thought -they've probably had this one on the backburner for a while. You can't print this card in a format with Mountain Giant. Maybe this was one of the ideas for the original Mage legendary spell?

It's neat to see that they appear to be pushing Hunter in a new direction, following the inclusion of the more aggro Demon Hunter.

I wonder if we'll get ANY cards which push early aggression? It would be sad to see that side of the class identity go.

Well, that sure is beautifully thematic. I hate it.

You can look forward to seeing this card being randomly discovered on Trolden.
