Sure, maybe when they start playing, but how long does that last? Eventually, you've seen RNG swing in favor of you and against you more times than you can count and it starts to feel hollow.
Also, I disagree that playing a bunch of random cards is fun. How many times has the weekly tavern brawl been RNG multiplied by RNG? 'You get a deck of random cards. When you play them, something random happens.'
Runeterra is going to get stale really fast because of the lack of RNG.
Runeterra is everything but stale when u get nerfs AND buffs every 15 days
it's a taste in general. I mean, I am also didn't invest so much time to Hearthstone after LoR released and i came back and start to play some games last week. I can say that RNG is what makes Hearthstone different.
Ok, everyone pisses up with so much rng but at the end, it is what makes different everygame in Hearthstone. There have to be rng with Hearthstone's combat/turn system in my opinion because if there is not, it would be so boring and matchs would result at turn 2 because you would know that you can't comeback anymore and there is also no interactions on opponent's turn except secret mechanic. RNG gives some chances to back up etc and feels unique on every match.
In LoR and MTG, you can interact at your opponent's turn so it is normal that those games are not RNG-Heavy, but in Hearthstone, Your turn is completely yours which brings some OTK plays etc and makes you invulnerable in your turn, there's no counterplays in HS when you compare with other games.
So, The result is, Don't whine about RNG so much; This is what makes Hearthstone fun and playable mostly. Well, I opened my comment as "it is a taste mostly" which means you can always decide to not play just because you don't like rng.
After those years and seeing that RNG never changes, People needs to learn that RNG is the core mechanic of the Hearthstone and what keeps the game balanced. Players must decide what they like first. If someone doesn't like RNG, then Hearthstone isn't a game for his/her tastes.
I started playing HS during it's beta and I never missed an expansion until now. I saw many people complaining about the RNG and I would have responded to them with a lot of what you're saying. I guess the mechanic just got old for me.
I'm not saying all RNG is bad. I think the worst examples are stuff like the Mage 'cast a bunch of random spells' effects. There's no way to play around those or even make the best of them when you play them. Evolve Shaman is another one. That archetype, which is still getting more cards, pushed RNG beyond a little spice to help games feel fresh into one of the main mechanics of a deck.
I know it's a core mechanic of the game and I don't expect that to change. That's why my post wasn't directed at developers who might be reading these comments. It's directed at the players who might also be getting tired of the RNG.
I can understand that. You are also right for your point of view. I am not judging you. If you don't like rng and it bores you to see evolve shaman and random spell mage every time what should I say?
I decided to play both games at the same time. With new no-duplicates rule of hearthstone and f2p friendly model of LoR i believe that I can spare enough time to both games. I like both of them for their aspects. I also like MTG but that game is so expensive for my wallet. So i can't play that like how i do for LoR and HS.
When I want to play some rng heavy game i will just play HS and when I want to play a more consistent game, I will play LoR. Games for people to entertain themselves after all.
Thanks for your suggestion to other people btw. I don't know why people downvoted you. You just suggested something that you believe it is good for players who got bored from RNG and you were right that LoR isn't RNG-heavy so that is a wise suggestion if you don't like rng so much with MTG:A of course. That game isn't also RNG heavy but I believe that Land mechanic of the game is kind of primitive for digital card games. I mean, D-CCGs already solved that problem and it is not problem that you can't draw your lands anymore. That mechanic with being an expensive game is keeping some players out of the MTG:A. It is like that for me at least. So i will stick with HS and LoR for my CCG gaming.
Are all of the cards revealed? It doesn't feel like it.
It was a really fast reveal season this time around, so we'll just be waiting for a week and a half until they drop the expansion.
No, they do a showcase and a full card dump shortly afterwards. Basically, all the boring neutral commons.
I haven’t watched the stream, but just in looking at these cards, I’m really digging the creativity here. Pretty excited to try them out!
Man, what a lopsided dynamic!
Dean wanted to show off the cards. You could just tell that he was proud of what Team 5 has created and had a lot to say, but Kripp was more interested in trying to win than discussing the new cards. Dean would ask questions about how Kripp felt about cards, but besides jokes, it never went the other way around. And speaking of jokes - so much sarcasm from Kripp that went over Dean's head or strategy jokes for which you could tell Dean just didn't care to have a response for.
I don't blame Kripp so much, as this was likely much less structured due to quarantine, but this has been one of the less fun reveal streams. It's tough to get the same fun, buddy-buddy physical energy when you're not able to interact with your co-streamer in person.
Agreed, nothing against Kripp personally but I thought he was terribly boring. People shit on Cora for her last reveal but it was probably slightly better than this. It's probably a lot harder to do than you'd think.
Kibler honestly seems to be the best at it. He has the fun enthusiasm for new cards, humor, and he still plays the games well enough and talks about the cards in a somewhat competitive sense. He's the balance that interests both the casual fan and more competitive player.
This is why i miss Day9 and Ben Brode. Those guys where totally infectious and into it.
I used to make a point of watching reveal streams with those guys. Nothing against Dean and Kripp but damn that was dull...
Please no day9, that dudes annoying as heck...
at the same time Day9 was also absolutely garbage at the game and made so many frustratingly stupid plays that it became hard to watch.
I didn't mind Kripp honestly, at the very least he didn't overexplain every single move like Kibler tends to do.
Really all he needed to do was show the cards a bit longer and maybe comment on them a bit more....also the fact that they weren't in the same room didn't help much either.
the stealth prevalence reminds me of the elusives in LoR. thankfully its only for a turn.
This exp seems to me like a support for warrior, with all the 'damaged synergies' and all the 'taunt' revealed so far..
Don't forget about Pure Paladin, and All-Spells Mage. (And Stealth/Secret Rogue)
And we haven't even touched Demon Hunter yet. So no one can predict anything until the meta stabilized.
I love Kripp, but he definetely wasnt the right choice for a reveal livestream.
Feels like he focuses too much on winning and doesnt care about giving the audience a good look on the revealed cards. Kibler would be a better choice imo
I stopped watching because it was just too boring (for a reveal livestream). Idk, thats my opinion.
The cards are looking good till now.
Yeah me too...
