Can everyone please stop feeding the troll? OP is clearly butthurt about ... something? I don't know, but they're not engaging in a discussion here, just repeating the same complaint. Maybe we can close this thread, and start a new one where people comment constructively on whether or not they find the current meta diverse enough.
I for one am running into a nice variety of classes and decks. Losing to some strong aggro or combo always feels bad, but at least it's not the same thing every time.
Same here! I also felt hesistant at first but got it done today.
For the last three tasks, Sinestra was the MVP by a mile. Protectors have a bad time with Balinda so for #10 I went with Sinestra, Anduin and Velen. Don't sleep on Twilight Extinction vs. Balinda's casters!
Honestly, I think Sinestra might be the first nerf candidate in Mercenaries (if they're going to do nerfs in this mode). The amount of damage Twilight Extinction puts out and her off-the-charts healing ability make her a massive threat.
I completed the final task yesterday, and damn I'm proud of myself. When I first saw the task list right here on our beloved Out of Cards, I thought, "Ok, I'll do the first few at least, but I think some of the later ones will be beyond me." But with a little perseverance (and certainly some luck) I made it through. I have spent almost no money at all on Mercenaries, but I have played it daily since launch.
My comp for the final battle (for anyone interested) was Brightwing, Anduin and Sinestra. I had Cornelius, Alexstrasza and Tirion in the wings just in case Brightwing had to bounce, but didn't need them. None of these Mercs are maxed out. As long as you make sure either Brightwing or Anduin has their mass healing ready for when Balinda does the 1-health thing, it's actually kind of easy. I was even at a disadvantage because I picked up a boon that sped up fighters, so I could rarely attack with Sinestra because she would have attacked at speed 3 and died before her friends could heal her at speed 4 or 5. Ultimately, her Twilight Extinction was the MVP.
Good luck to everyone still plugging away at these! I believe in you!
As someone who's never bought a Mercs pack (neither with gold or cash), I recently completed the Chi-Ji Questline and boy, it was a struggle.
In the end, the total MVPs were Yu'lon, Sinestra and Brightwing - they carried me through multiple tasks.
Although some tasks were really dumb (yep, #8 and #9: I am talking about you), this event left me satisfied, as it rewarded me a rather strong Merc and a lot of coins, so I hope they'll do more of this in the future.
Good job! I have only invested a little in Mercenaries, though I play it a lot. These tasks have been very challenging, but like you say, the rewards are decent. I'm on the final one now, and have not yet attempted it. I'm thinking Anduin, Brightwing, Sinestra. My newer mercs, like Yulon and Chi-Ji, are not upgraded enough to make the cut
Ok, I’m calling out for help. I have no idea how to clear task 8 (heroic Lokholar). I don’t know what comp to use or how to play it. My beasts/dragons of reasonably high level are Alex, Brightwing, Mukla, Krush, Blink fox and Trigore.
That was my comp (except I used Sinestra instead of Trigore). I think the main thing is to get lucky with treasures. For example, my Brightwing picked up the "your mercs take 10 less damage this turn" treasure, and that was key, especially on the turn when Lokholar attacked 5 or 6 times.
Just an FYI: that amazing passive that immediately snipes summoned minions does not work on him, since the guys he summons are mercs, not minions (as opposed to Ahune, against whom it works great!).
Leveling up Sinestra if you have her is well worth the time. She's amazing in PvP as well.
I'm stuck on the Ahune one right now. FYI: the beasts need to be actual Mercs. I beat him with Blink Fox and 2 of Tavish's bears on the field, other beast Mercs had died. It did not count.
How the hell do you kill the Anointed Blades with only casters? I've tried Shadow, Nature and Holy combos, get totally creamed every time. Xyrella even had Subjugation, didn't make a difference.
Just here to share my very limited experience so far: 5 games as Druid, won 4 of them. I started with my previous build where my only minions were Ivus, C'Thun and Yogg. Took out Ivus and Yogg, added Kazakusan and the new spell that summons whelps with Rush. Lost to weapon rogue (it was close though). Realized C'Thun was bad here and swapped him for another whelp spell. Won the next 4 games. Worth noting: I managed to draw both Guff and Kazakusan in a timely fashion, and that's for sure why I won.
Maybe I'm missing something, but does this first verify that your deck only has Dragon minions, and then replace the whole thing? That sounds just awful. Thankfully for those that want to play this card the Bad Luck Albatross will be rotating soon to keep them from getting stuck with a dead card activation in hand. I think it will find meme status, and at the least be fun to dink around with, but I don't see it being competitive.
Albatross went to Wild almost a year ago dude. Of course, if Kazakusan takes off in wild, Albatross might be very useful
Does anyone know how "Heal Power" works? It seems to increase healing, but I can't find anyplace where it specifically explains how. The Balinda bounty kicked my ass twice because she set my Mercs to 1 health and I didn't yet know how to use that against her. Anduin's Holy Nova did the trick on my third try.
Am I the only one who's disappointed there isn't a new Leeroy Jenkins? He needn't have Charge, since they've moved away from that as a game mechanic, but they could have found a fun way to reintroduce him. Summoning whelps for your opponent would synergize nicely with Impfestation and Ring of Courage.
For those of you steadily grinding out those daily tasks, I wanted to share a couple things I've noticed (just in case you haven't):
-tasks asking you to "deal X damage"or "kill X minions" do not require that specific merc in your party
-If it says "Complete 2 heroic bounties" you need that merc in your party, but if it says "defeat 2 heroic bosses" you don't (difference is "complete" vs "defeat")
That's it for now. I hope you all find many "mysterious strangers"!
Here is a procedure to check if the condition on the card is fulfilled:
1. Look at all minions in the deck
2. Ask of each minion the following YES-NO question: "Mate, are you a dragon?"
3. Finish when you asked all minions.
You'd agree that if we only got YESes, then the condition is fulfilled, right? Since the other answer is NO, then getting only YESes is equivalent to not getting a single NO, right?
Thus, if we never get a NO, we are good - the condition is fulfilled
If the deck had no minions to begin with - we never get a NO.
As said above, never getting a NO, is getting YES for all, which is what the card is conditioned on
"Mate, are you a dragon?" lmao
Perfect, except dragons are always masquerading as other beings and don't want to reveal themselves. It's like the opposite of that great line from Ghostbusters: "If someone asks you if you are a god ... you say YES."
First rule of Dragon Club: If someone asks you if you are a dragon ... you say NO.
I've been playing lots of Mercenaries recently, and my biggest issue is the coins. Duplicate protection exists for cards in the traditional game, so why not for coins? It's incredibly frustrating to keep earning coins for maxed out mercs while I am desperately trying to upgrade new mercs but don't have the coins to do so.
I think I'm in the minority here, but I've really enjoyed this meta. There's a healthy mix of decks now that Rogue has been exorcised and Pirate Warrior isn't infesting everything.
Although, lord knows Scholomance Academy cannot rotate fast enough. I think I hate every single card added in that set.
More likely, we are the quieter majority. I have also found the meta pretty diverse and fun, but people who do not are much louder on the internet.
I know you guys/girls are way further in mercs then I am. Just doing pve side for now and slowly upgrading the mercs in the meantime trying to progress in the bounties. So is there any info available about the best party combination to beat bounties. Right now i am just stuck and try to find the best combo.
It mostly depends on the boss's class: use Fighter Orcs to beat Casters, use Nature Casters to beat Protectors, etc. I've found the Nature team to be able to handle most difficulties, especially with how your damage scales with Bru'kan. Someone else here already mentioned this too, but Brightwing is fantastic because the AI will almost always focus on her, then you just tap her out. Just pay attention to speeds. Some of those Fighter elementals in Blackrock Mountain do massive damage at speed 3, so maybe have Bru'kan slow that one, so he doesn't shoot right away on turn 2 and Brightwing has time to bounce.
Finally beat Popsicooler with orcs. I found, as always, that the treasures you find make all the difference. Samuro and Rokara both had buffed stats and windfury, plus a horde banner. It was a quick GG. Pretty sure I'd have beaten it on heroic with the power I had on board there.

Oh no, Alleria threw more snowballs than me ... what shall I do ... heh heh heh ...

Here's a tip on the Chi-Ji healing task in case anyone is stuck on it:
1) Take Chi-Ji, Cookie and Brightwing on any easy bounty.
2) Have Cookie summon a fish, then kill the enemies.
3) The match won't end until you kill the fish (which won't attack or do anything).
4) Have your mercs punch each other in the face until they have all taken at least 34 damage and Chi-Ji's healing is boosted enough to do it
I'm stuck on the Ahune one right now. FYI: the beasts need to be actual Mercs. I beat him with Blink Fox and 2 of Tavish's bears on the field, other beast Mercs had died. It did not count.
