Yeah, it certainly did and im happy that they are using the game mode to test new mechanics. Much player friendly than to just dump it into that game. They can also get feedback on popularity of said mechanic or on its implementation.
One last comment. That honorable fight keyword will likely end up like overkill. Unless of course, they ramp up the powerlevel on this one.
I dont think so, you are more likely to do exact dmg than to Overkill in most situations, because you dont want to waste damage. This will only play into that scenario. If i were a betting man, i would say that this keyword, regardless of its actual effects, might become one of the more popular ones.
I would assume that no matter the choice, you can ultimately play whatever you like, so you can paradoxically play and win using alliance decks whilst having chose for the horde.
From my understanding, once you pick a side, whatever you do, you earn honor points for that side. But we will have to wait for an official information about how this is going to work, of course.
Totally, art and voices of cards are as important as the effects of cards themselves for ppl to enjoy playing them, sometimes even more so. Artists are usually credited when you look up the card in your collection, but writers of flavor texts or voice actors are not. I mean it makes sense, it would get clunky with "too much info", but i believe you can look some of them up online and shoot them a msg on twitter or something to tell them how much you enjoy their work. I think they would appreciate that for sure :)
I mean the reset is on midnight, not 24-hours since it went off :) Also there are usually a few houses that are "always on", so any amount of ppl can trick-or-treat there. They r displayed on the event page. Ofc one person can only knock on one house once, daily.
I wonder if you could "technically" get both cards for free. For eg: You choose the Horde Legendary, but then the Alliance wins, so you get the diamond version of the Alliance legendary.
I actually thought about this too, while writing the article.
I imagine that you may want to pick the "weakest" one so that you'll get the strongest one down the road, but that doesn't seem too smart of a choice, gameplay experience wise.
There's also the chance that you may pick a golden legendary now, and you'll get the regular copy of the other one at the beginning of the next expansion's Reward track (just like we received Mankrik and Lady Prestor).
But by picking the side, you align yourself with that side, so playing the game will earn points for your side = if everyone picks the "loosing side", they would either have to stop playing the game, or the side might win in the end, halting your plan :D I dont think it will be that easy.
Only way i could see this working is if you could delay the pick, and wait and join in later (if there is even going to be the progress for each side displayed in-game). But imho the pick will be mandatory on log-in, would be my guess.
mods could you please explain what determines the house lights being on or off? I dont understand the mechanic, I thought it said "on" for everyone
Hi, that title is part of our ongoing Halloween event - Oozefest. You can trick or treat at "user's houses" (icon found on their profile page) to get Candy (event currency). If enough ppl tricked-or-treated at your house that day, your lights are off. They will go on next day, so they can do it again.
Info about the event is here, on the event page. It will be ending soon, so if you still want to participate, there are scavenger hunt clues and other stuff you can still do.
Galaxis will always be in your hand to soak up discard effects since he can't really be played and he replaces himself. As compensation, you get a handy-dandy Voidwalker. Alternatively, he can be cheated out with effects like Archwitch Willow or Skull of the Man'ari to get a strong, but not especially strong Taunt minion.
I like the idea, but honestly, this could be a 10 or 8 mana card and it would function the same way basically, just that ppl would have a choice to play it from hand or not. Feels like it costs 11 just to satisfy the prompt.
Well, Xuen is a beast so Tundra Rhino would be a thing and you could have combo pieces discounted by Emperor Thaurissan etc. and could have a weapon equipped and add Southsea Deckhands ... but that is way too specific i guess. But regardless, since it has Stealth, unless your opponent has a full board clear, or a very specific way to kill it, it will survive till next turn. And the potential to then buff its attack with any attack buff and make that buff a board wide, is quite scary.
I really like the Awaken mechanic. Obviously the balance could become an issue, but it is certainly a design space that was not explored much. Really diggin' it. The example cards are really good too, showcasing how opponent can mitigate the potential reward, if player does not trigger it on their turn to give themselves the best outcome and can make opponent think twice about what actions to take. Well done.
Xuen is kinda broken tho, its like neutral Bloodlust or better, there are also ways to give it charge, so it could attack right away. Imho it would be ok without Stealth, a lot harder to stick on the board, but it would at least be kinda fair finisher, if it did stick around. And charge shenanigans would still be there.
Sha of Hatred - I like the idea, but it should probably blight the last mana crystal, to provide a meaningful choice of leaving leftover mana or not. In its current form, there isnt really much choice at all, either opponent does not play any cards, or he does.
It's not like much has changed on paper. It still shreds slower decks (at best you get one more turn before you're out of health). I'm pretty sure the main idea behind the nerf was to actively dissuade people from playing it because it has an inflated playrate. People tend to just drop certain decks after a nerf, even if they're still fine (Look at Questlock. The deck's still great, but you'll barely see it on ladder because most people just kind of forgot about it or something).
It might be more a case of hey, there is a nerf, i can dust this card "for free" ... but then you dont have the card, so you cant play the deck, even tho it might still be good and you dont feel like crafting it again is worth your dust.
Based on Mercenary treasures, she is an Alliance, since Alliance treasures buff her. But you know Blizz, it could go either way :)
The cards will definitely have to stand on their own to deliver the reward for them to be universally good, that is for sure. We shall see.

How do you pick losing side, when you picking a side then helps that side? Are you not going to play the game for 2 months ?:)

You might want to find a different art - Fireguard Destroyer.
Two ppl from EU worked on the article and we still managed to get it wrong :D Time zones are hard, man! :) Thanks, edited.

Gallywix in Battlegrounds can go over 10 Coins, which is basically like going over 10 Mana, so the UI is technically already there.

The point is to pressure undecided ppl to buy it right now, most likely to milk as much as possible from the game mode for the last quarter.
You can bet there are going to be new deals in the future. Hard to say if they r going to be as good as this one.
This bundle should have been the standard price range, not a unique exception. Sadly, that was not the case.

To be honest, completely forgot about dual arena 😅 well, at least i will have a chance to get some salt in 😎
Goliath, you should have worn a red bandana for ultimate immersion! :D
