It's even worse if you are a merc player where it's the best to keep all of your packs, which you could open anytime, around until the next bunch of mercs drop.

I totally forget how much I missed these "livestream" reveals to start off and hopefully also end a reveal sesaon. Seeing the cards being played in a dedicated deck just hits different than just reading the cardtexsts and maybe get a 5 sec video that highlights the animations

I don't see any reason why they would do that. The altarac objectives have some major differences compared to location cards, like how they trigger automatically, that they don't take board space away and that you can't have the same objective twice in play.

Being able to choose each time if and where to use the effect, while also having a 1 turn cooldown, are some pretty big differences, both between landmarks and objectives.

A merc pack is nice, but I was hoping that the event would include a Finley merc. It's crazy that non of the expansion protagonists are in mercs, meawhile all 3 of the other explorers are there. Just, why?

I'd have to play it again, but I think you could interpret it as Rafaam dying in the LoE version of GA
That depents on which version of the Story you played. The E.V.I.L version ends with Rafaam killing Galakrond after realizing that life is worthless if everything gets destroyed, meanwhile the Explorers version endet with them defeating Rafaam and Galakrond.

Funfact: "murder mystery" was the original theme for the witchwood expansion, which started out with the title "murder at the gilnean express". They also briefely described a "investigate" keyword, which seems to be the base for Murloc Holmes. They later dropped that theme because during designing this expansion they constantly found themself more interested in the gilnean woods and monsters around the train. So I'm interested in finding out how they made the theme work for this expansion.

Not sure if it's just a temporary issue, but recently I sometimes have issues connecting to the website even though everything else works fine.
It also feels really weird that the articles are not centered anymore with my screen size (1920 x 1080 | Firefox and Edge | Adblocker didn't change anything (not caused by ads)).

It feels like 2017 all over again.
Expansion 1: heavily based on the enviorement with mostly unknown creatures and the protagonists are supported by a LoE member
Expansion 2: introduces a new card type and has a dark theme
Expansion 3: new pve mode (merc endgame?)
Though the pace is definetely a lot quicker this time around. I wonder if this has something to do with the 3. expansion being bigger than normal. Maybe the 3. expansion will be split into parts of like 65 cards that get released each month.
Also what happened to the event of this expansion? This would be the first time they are going to introduce a event with the expansion announcement patch.

Actually someone datamined a bunch of Darkmoon Bosses for Mercenaries. The mercs story is generally only very loosely connected to the story of the current expansion. Yes, they added a sunken City zone, but not because Fealin wanted to get there, but because the league has to stop the old gods.

I'd say the fact that they already released pandaria stuff speaks against, instead of for a pandaria expansion. Why release them so early instead of during a pandaria expansion? There's also no way that they are going to introduce a new class without even mentioning or at the very least hinting at it during the year of the Hydra video or roadmap.
On a personal note I also couldn't care less about a monk class.

There are a lot of new and interesting gamemechanics in the game with the mercs they added. In fact, coming up with creative comps to use these mechanics is my favorite thing in mercs now. Even though most of them aren't better than meta decks, just trying to make them work consistently is super fun for me.
I am actively losing interest in the game as I see news about events happening before I can even try it.
You can actually play the game right now. The game softlaunched yesterday for everyone who lives in the philipines or knows that vpns exist. Alternatively you can also just sideload a apk.

"here, take this deathrattle druid instead"

May I add how awesome that diamond artwork and animation is?
yes, you can also choose the targets
and a skin for most of the other classes. It really isn't that dramatic.

Does this mean that there will be a patch next week?

That's a hard thing to swallow for merc players. The PvE endgame better be extremely deep, fun and full of content when it launches.

Am I reading too much into this or are they teasing the midsummer fire festival?
