More of a control card. You either play eye beam for less mana in combo style decks. This is for control. Not sure why people are confusing it as "OTK" support. It's a control card variant, not OTK card variant.

Not bad for rattle DH, but the first copy is the only one that triggers. So it's a weird inclusion into the deck considering the 2nd copy "does nothing"

I can only see this quest being used with Glide for disruption + discounts on your end. Otherwise this is a highly impractical quest. Which....I'm fine with. I don't think DH has been considered "weak" at any point since it came out, so I'm rather happy to see it get a rather mediocre quest and let other classes have huge power swings.
In fact the only way I could see this being a fun/meme thing is to use Far Watch Posts + Glide. Your cards get discounted, your opponents get increased in cost.
I guess the point is that a fairly narrow class identity isn't necessarily a bad one. We have 10 classes, and they don't all need to be able to do everything, and nobody needs to enjoy all 10 classes either.
Oh I certainly agree here, but they've clearly pointed out and made in the past various archetypes/sub-archetypes available for classes, even with those who had established class identities. Just pointing out that maybe this year they'll try to push a control hunter meta, who knows. It would be a refreshing change of pace is all I'm saying as I'm really really tired of seeing hunter have a tier 2 deck that skirts both buffs and nerfs, but is always "just good enough" to make ranking up every month an annoying, living hell.
In short: I'm tired of hunter *consistently* always having a tier 2 aggro deck every single month that is viable for them to rank up with. (Sometimes even tier 1). Every other class enjoys brief moments on the bottom of the heap after a nerf or just bad expansion releases. Hunter? Nada.
It's difficult to make this compare well to Underlight Angling Rod, but I do respect the design of this, especially at a time when I'm worn down by what feels like 16 months of aggro. Is it worse than the Angling Rod most of the time? Yes. Is it better if you just want to spite (smite?) aggro? Yes.
Since you're the only one who took the time to forment a thought beyond "card bad ugg zugg. me post count go up" I'll respond to you! I think the intention here was not to print a low impact epic card, but rather to prevent the card from being used in certain archetypes. This isn't horrible, and if paladin was in a meta/world where they needed healing/removal that scaled with attack (or got attack buffs from spells other sources) this could be great even. But simply put this is a weapon/healing card meant to never be put into an aggro player's deck. I think they feared that making it able to hit heroes it would just forment another paladin aggro meta.
While that does make the card feel "underwhelming" from a reveal standpoint that would be my guess as to why it is designed the way it is (also being lifesteal, if it had 4 attack, it would be BETTER than truesilver or underlight rod. So everyone making comments about how the other weapons are better, just remember that by giving this weapon ANY number of stats (attack/charges) actually makes it the de-facto go to weapon for paladin.
Really good support for the quest, or standalone with skull of guldan. If it's played the turn it's drawn its a 6 mana 6/7 taunt which isn't horrible.
Really bad. The last thing DH needs is a single card cantrip. This is like "lesser skull of guldan" except not worth a single 1 mana discount.

Good for the quest possibly. Generally it'll only do 1-3 damage which makes it bad unless you're building self-mill DH.

Support for the new Jace legendary. Otherwise rather underwhelming.

Impractical amount of draw for very little payoff. However I'm fine with this because DH has been strong since it's release and never considered weak.

May make DH interesting beyond OTK or deathrattle netdecking.
Could be useful with the aoe (even though it hurts him) as a means of making control DH.

Pretty sure pidgeon was implying that at some point in the past blizz has pushed a deathrattle archetype for those classes. Most notable examples are:
What Y'shaarj combo?
