I've reached level 50, and I got...drum roll...another crappy legendary! Rokara, the Valorous. That's 4 straight rewards tracks where my free legendary (both from the level 20 and 50 milestones) were crap, except for Anetheron. I swear they're rigging it so you get the least played legendaries...

Anyway, I'm at level 51. I've been making a late push for legend with Freeze Shaman, and I was just one win away until I lost to a Face Hunter. Happens every time. I'll make another push tomorrow.

I'm still loving this meta. There are a good variety of decks out there, nothing too oppressive. Everything is counterable. Is that everyone's experience too? Hope you're having fun with the grind as much as I am!

I think I just played the greatest game of Hearthstone ever.

I'm playing C'Thun Druid (with Wildheart Guff) against a Burgle Rogue. I got behind early as my opponent played a wide board, but I was able to Solar Eclipse into Overflow on turn 3 so I have a lot of mana to defend myself with. By turn 11 I've managed to hold on at 12 health, and I manage to clear his board with a Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate that cast a Puzzlebox.

Now this is where it gets fun. My opponent manages to get a Yogg of his own via Vanessa VanCleef, which will come into play later. At this point I'm at 12 health and 29 armor, with 19 mana in my tray thanks to Wildheart Guff. A Contraband Stash fills my opponent's board with large threats again, but I still manage to clear some of his minions again and even complete C'Thun, the Shattered on the same turn. However, he steals my C'Thun with Parrrley! He couldn't play it that turn, though.

I play the Parrrley as well and steal his Contraband Stash, which helps wipe his board again (thanks to a stray Fire Sale that I forget where I got from). But with the board free of minions now, he plays C'Thun, which I managed to survive thanks to 26 armor. With just 8 health left, I play two Cenarion Wards to tank up again, getting a Turalyon, the Tenured to kill the C'Thun so he couldn't Shadowstep it.

Next turn, my opponent plays the Yogg he got from Vanessa VanCleef, and it plays another  puzzlebox that kills my two 8-drops and fills his board with some buffed up imps. I'm out of answers at that point and staring death in the face, so I played Resizing Pouch for a Hail Mary play.

Well, I got another Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate out of it, and it cast Rod of Roasting!!! And it killed my opponent!!!!

A perfect ending to an amazing game. This is why I play Hearthstone.

You might as well buy the pass now if you intend to do so anyway. The extra xp is not retroactive if Im not mistaken, which means you dont get that increase from all the games played before you bought the pass.

Yeah I know, I just don't have money to spare for it right now, what with Christmas season and all. Stupid gifts :)) Besides, I'm buying the pass for the portraits, not the XP boost, but I hear you.

Amen on Quest Mages, I'm glad they're dead. The new Mozaki Mage has taken its place though, yet another OTK deck that's not really powerful but just incredibly tilting to lose to, especially since I'm playing slower decks that can't pressure it much.

Hey everyone! We're a week into the FiAV expansion and no one has made a thread for the new rewards track yet, so I figured I'd take the reins from Alleria and make one. It's always fun to see other people's progress since it motivates me to keep leveling up as well, so share away!

    Here's my progress:

I'm currently at Level 37, I've played for about four days since the expansion launch. I stupidly forgot to hoard the daily and weekly quests before the launch so I could zoom through the rewards track, thinking they'd be replenished by the next day -_- Anyway, my goal this expansion is to breach the Level 200 barrier that has so far eluded me in all the rewards tracks.

From the looks of this meta, I'll probably reach that goal because I'm having fun! I've been playing a lot of Shaman (grinding towards that golden portrait, just 80 more wins to go), mostly the Freeze Control archetype, and some Freeze Elemental decks. I've also toyed with a Big Priest since I unpacked Xyrella, the Devout, and it's pretty competitive. I even had some success with a Clown Druid with Wildheart Guff, it beats a lot of Fatigue Warlocks so long as you can ramp quickly and slam down some big boys early. Speaking of which, I'm not facing a lot of quest decks, apart from Warlocks and Warriors, which I think is good.

I haven't bought the pass yet, but I will by next week. This meta has been fun for me so far. How's everyone's finding it? Good luck on the climb!

Humongous Owl Warlock looks like a problem. It just cycles through the deck so fast while having such good removal and healing options that allow it to stall the game. I played it yesterday and I was able to stave off some Face Hunters and Token Druids, and that's without havingDreadlich Tamsin in my deck. Though it seems like midrange decks that can continually pressure it will be its weakness, since I had a hard time beating Quest Warriors and the new Elemental Shamans. Still, expect a nerf to Humongous Owl soon (maybe its deathrattle only hits minions) because the consistency of this deck will just kill any other slower strategies.

Speaking of killing slower strategies, I'm still worried about the questlines...I'm pretty sure Questline Handlock will rise to top tier again, all you have to do is insert Dreadlich Tamsin in that deck and it'll still perform the same, possibly even better.

Overall, I had a fun first day with the new expansion. I played some Deathrattle Big Priest with the questline, which kinda sucks especially with the Owl OTK around, and Anacondra Druid with Wildheart Guff, which also sucked. I've yet to try Freeze Shaman, just waiting for the meta to settle before I craft the needed legendaries for it.

I opened 94 packs (bought with my 9000+ gold) and I got:

    Wildheart Guff

    Balinda Stonehearth

    Caria Felsoul

    Tamsin's Phylactery

    Xyrella, the Devout

    Free:

    Lokholar the Ice Lord

Vanndar Stormpike (I'm having regrets choosing Alliance for this expac since I'm really a Horde guy, but whatever...FOR THE ALLIANCE!)

I consider that a crappy haul, because they don't fit in any of the decks I want to play (Freeze Shaman, Cariel Paladin, Big DH). I guess I'm gonna abuse Tamsin's Phylactery for now with the Humongous Owl OTK.

I really am cursed when it comes to the 3rd expansion of every year...I've had terrible pack openings for Rastakhan's Rumble (the worst one), Descent of Dragons, Darkmoon Faire, and now Fractured at Alterac. Feels bad.

(Though I've always been extremely lucky with the middle expansion, like Boomsday, Uldum, Scholomance, and Stormwind lol)

I'm gonna end this rewards track on Level 149, well below my target of 200. It's a bit my fault and the meta's; I just couldn't stand the inevitability of most of the decks introduced in Stormwind, like the Mage and Warlock questlines, and the disappearance of slow strategies. What made me hate it more was the fact that I was forced to play decks I hated as well, as I had the most success with Questline Warlock and Questline Shaman. They were enjoyable to play, but I just felt like crap afterwards.

I've managed to save up 9,145 gold, with 6,900 dust (shouldn't have crafted Mr. Smite...thought he would be broken and I could just disenchant him lol). Not bad for someone who didn't purchase the tavern pass since the cosmetics offered were absolute dogsh*t. I'll probably buy the next tavern pass since I like the portraits being offered, and there seems to be more value this time around.

I'm setting my goal for the next expansion at 200 again, and I'm gonna reach it this time, dammit!

Simply a great card, probably the best from the Shaman set this expansion. It's got the elemental tag, good stats for a 2-drop, and gives you a stall and draw tool.

Good removal tool with upside. Being able to disrupt your opponent is always a good thing.

Well, this is nuts. The stats for the cost itself makes it great, and it's an essential minion in the Big Spell archetype they're pushing now but can even be used in any Mage deck. One of the best cards of the set imo, assuming Mage goes back to playing minions.

This feels so underwhelming. I mean, the hero card itself is good with the improved secrets, but summoning an Animal Companion for your hero power feels lackluster. And I can't think of any Hunter archetype that can make use of this card, which looks like it's more suited to control.

This has potential. Great tempo card, and can also function as a finisher. A mini-Savage Roar with a body attached.

I think this is a solid card. Not that good, but not too bad either. It's been confirmed that killing this with "destroy" effects (like Twisting Nether and other straight-up removal cards) don't count as Honorable Kills, so this could be a nuisance for decks that don't play much minions. Still, it's a 4-mana do nothing, so it won't be as impactful.

Man, I hope Deathrattle Hunter becomes a thing. I'm so sick of the face-face-face archetypes that the class has had for almost two years now.

Mountain Bear is a good revival target for Jewel of N'Zoth and Revive Pet. But this looks like an Arena card for now, I don't see it being played as much in Standard and Wild.

Very strong removal for DH. That's potentially 8 damage that can also clear two minions for just 4 mana, and you can also be left with a 4/2 on board. Yet another card to use in a Big DH deck.

This will probably push Big DH into true competitive viability, together with Proving Grounds, Caria Felsoul, and Vanndar Stormpike. Cheating out an Illidari Inquisitor with this on turn 6 is f'cking nuts. I'm excited to try this out.

Another big spell for Big Spell archetypes. I'm not really a fan of random stuff, but this looks pretty good since the spells are only guaranteed to hit enemies.

I'm only at level 132, I'm playing strictly on weekends now. I have to say though, I'm enjoying the game again. I've been playing a lot of Quest Handlock and Quest Shaman, two decks that I'm winning a lot of games with recently. Their win conditions may be unfair (especially against any control deck), but damn if they aren't fun to play. They're not brainless decks unlike other oppressive decks; there's usually a bit of skill and thinking involved for each turn, and there are multiple ways to kill your opponent with. It's just a shame their payoffs are completely overtuned and bad for the game.

I tried my hand at Mercenaries as well...for one day. I spent a day going through the tutorial, and I have to admit I was getting into it. I enjoyed leveling up some of my mercs, completing bounties, opening packs for coins...and then the next day, I didn't feel compelled to play it again. Now, I don't think I'll touch the mode again. It's just tedious, grindy, boring. And I think it's crap that they just recycled hero portraits that are already being used in standard Hearthstone for the Mercs. Just incredibly lazy. The coin system is terrible too.

As for the upcoming expansion, I chose to ally myself with the Alliance...but my heart is with the Horde. I just wanted to get Vanndar Stormpike because I'm gonna try some big decks.

Can't wait for the new expansion! I think I'll top out at level 150 for this battle pass. For Alterac Valley, I'm gonna craft Bru'kan of the Elements on day one and I'm gonna play a lot of Shaman. I'm 100 wins away from a golden portrait!

I love this card. As someone who loved playing Dr. Boom, Mad Genius, Bru'kan of the Elements is gonna be so fun to play!

Those elemental invocations look incredibly overpowered for 2 mana too, especially the Fireball to the face. But all in all this is a great control tool, and the fact that you could choose two invocations for the battlecry could make for some swing turns. The only downside is the 8-mana cost, but hopefully the meta slows down for this to see play.

And that card art looks sick.
