  • Hehe thanks for this spotlight :)

  • @doingtheobvious I get this comps can get very frustrating and of course you're free to go if you feel the negatives outweigh the positives.

However, I wanted to let you know I don't think your designs are bad. I mean, your entry this week was quite neat, and the only thing holding it back was the minor detail of its watermark. This is something you have to pay attention to, but it's not a flaw intrinsic to your design, it's something accessory.

As I said, you're the one who has to decide if you want to leave, but I believe your perception of what people think about your cards isn't very accurate.

  • It's been a busy week, so I'm pretty late to the party heh

I just wanted to add that the current system was designed when the number of participants was much higher, hence the 8 finalists thing. I liked the solution of having around 25% of participants reach the finals, but I would cap it to min 3 and max 8.

I agree with Demon's criticism about my card being a bit too weak, so I tried to improve it a little bit by reducing its Cost (and thus making it easier to combo)

Do you prefer this or the previous 3 Mana 3/4?

    HP mage + this+ Reckless Apprentice = GéGé :d

Also not a fan of reusing the art of Wildfire Elemental, tho art from uncollectible cards isnt strictly forbidden, it has been used by Blizz as well on occasion.

My bad, I didn't remember that card existed. I guess it could still be argued it wouldn't work with that card, just like Spirit of the Dragonhawk. I mean, both the Spirit and my card work by casting the HP again after it is used on a minion (the only thing that changes is the new target), so it makes sense that this is what prevents both of them from working with Reckless Apprentice.

Totally agree about the artwork, I'll use a different one if I still go with this.

Pretty cool idea, probably my fav so far. It fits both classes extremely well, both mechanically and in terms of flavor (mushrooms are perfect for both Shaman and Druid).

Sorry, I don't have nothing to add here.

    Demonxz95
Too memey for my taste. In terms of balance, I was gonna propose making it cost 3, but then I remembered Rock Rager exists, so it should probably stay at 4.

    BloodMefist
I'd probably go with Ambitious Acolyte, even if it steps a little bit into Rogue's identity. The cards it supports are quite cool, especially Envoy Rustwix.

I'm not a fan of Void Wisp, because cards that are not meant to be played feel a bit artificial to me, if that makes any sense. I'd probably buff its Health to 2 if you decide to go with it, since this "weakness" would be less apparent that way.

    SkeithDE
The Perfect Challenge should be a Paladin card, IMO. Setting stats is pretty much a Pally thing, and flavor-wise it fits both Warrior and Paladin just the same. Also, the word "Cost" should be written with capital C. It's probably my favorite of your cards, but the crowded text might put off some people.

Chill Out is a pretty interesting twist of the Freeze mechanic, while also not being too complex. That said, I'd probably rise its Cost to 2, since most of the time, you won't mind playing it last (this is also the reason I prefer The Perfect Challenge, this is basically a cheaper Frost Nova most of the time).

Schreeching Nightworm is also my least favorite of the bunch. It's also not very clear what happens after you Silence it many times.

    Aerojulwin
I like it. Very flavorful and fitting for Priest. I think I prefer the -2/5 version.

  • I don't actually play constructed, so this will be hard for me.

This is meant to synergize with Magister Dawngrasp (which I don't know how viable it is after being buffed), but it can also be used with upgraded Hero Powers, Shadowform, Wildfire or basically all current Mage and Priest Hero cards.

  • I don't think the comparison to Alex is fair. This card is designed to clear boards of up to 20 Health while still leaving an 8/8 and possibly some 2/1s.

To be fair, I don't think this card will be good, basically because it costs 10 Mana, but I'd say it functions in a pretty unique way (especially the fact that if you want to clear the 8/8, you must also kill the 2/1s that might remain), so I guess we'll have to see.

  • Gotta love that Disney villain attitude!

It's probably a bit too OP for 1 Mana, but it would be too weak at 2, so I guess it's fine. I don't think it's stronger than Holy Smite, so…

Other than that, I really like the card. Its text amost reads like a haiku. Very cute :)

    linkblade91
Much better than the previous iteration, but I still think it would be more balanced as a 3 Mana 2/2. I mean, this is a vanilla minion that gives you 3 or more Attack, with the potential of pulling off obscene tempo plays depending on the weapon. It's a legendary, sure, but it's very strong if played on curve, while not diminishing its impact too much if played later on (like Prince Keleseth does).

    Swizard
I think 2 Health and 3 Deathrattles is reasonable, yes. In order to balance this, I think you should compare it to the Side-Quests from Descent of Dragons, because the concept is very similar.

Finally, I think the card should feature an egg or a larva instead of a full grown Nerubian. Considering how big and menacing they are, it's a bit odd to have one of them as a minion with 0 Attack.

  • SkeithDE
I think Unchained Soultaker is your most interesting card here, but it's probably too weak. I don't know if making it a 2 Mana that steals the stats of a 3-Cost minion would be too broken, but I'd say it would be fine, because many 3-Costs have weak bodies with strong effects, so I guess this card would be very dependant on the meta.

About your other cards, Spellsmith is the runner up for me.

    linkblade91
I agree with everyone else, this is very dangerous. I like Aerojulwin's suggestions about affecting only the Attack or shuffling it at the end of your turn, but I'd only apply one of them because both at the same time feels unnatural. I'd go with the shuffle effect while rising the Cost to 3 (both to make it legal for the comp and to make it less dangerous).

    AeroJulwin
It's indeed a bit on the nose, but I like it a lot. The art is very cute, which is something weird considering it depicts snakes lol

About the inconsitency with the "Draw 1 card" thing, I don't mind it too much in this very specific case: wording it with "Draw a card" would break both the aesthetic of the text AND the parallel to Ultimate Infestation. If Blizzard ever printed this card (which they might do at some point), I wouldn't be surprised if they too broke the convention.

    Demonxz95
I didn't know if negative numbers would increase or decrease the count, I guess this answers my question heh

About the card, it's very weird. I don't like that minions with two or less Health die instantly nor the fact that it enables combos way too easily, but I find it very funny how this issues counter each other (you can't pull an Archmage Antonidas OTK because Sorcerer's Apprentices would die as soon as they hit the battlefield). I don't know if I like the card or not; as I said, it's very weird.

Finally, I think it shouldn't be a Beast, as it seems in the same category as Worgens or Pandaren, even if rat-people don't exist so far.

  • Pretty hard to go for something over two mana this week (except for spells, of course)

My right arm is in a sling, so I can't do much card-creating at the moment. Kind of a pain to review cards with one hand typing :/ Gonna have to just submit Thunderfury and call it a day.

    Sorry I haven't been around.

    Ouch >.<

I hope you get well soon.

Pretty cool card. Out of the possible statlines, I'd say a 5 Mana 3/6 is my favorite. Dealing 2 damage and Freezing the target (plus Elemental and Invoke additional synergies) is a pretty strong Battlecry.

Also, I'd say the artwork should be more zoomed in, even if you need to cut a bit of the wings right now.

    Demonxz95
Out of your cards, this one is my favorite so far. I'd reword it as "Summon a 3/4 Dragon for each time you've Invoked this game", as it sounds more natural to me.

    SkeithDE
I think I'm a minority here, but I actually prefer the Forked Lightning version. I don't know, zapping two enemies seems more "stormy" than buffing your minions. But again, I'm probably a minority, so you should probably go with the Storm's Wrath version.

  • Kinda surprised to see all cards are Shaman or Warrior.

    Some early feedback:

    linkblade91
The version that affects adjacent minions is way cooler and less problematic. To be honest, I could see it winning the comp. Maybe the effect would fit more in Warrior, but I get it could be a bit OP considering the effect of Galakrond's Might.

    Demonxz95
I like the card, but I think you should probably drop the stat gain. +2 Spell Damage for 2 is very strong, and something you already wanna do later in the game (not a card to play on curve), so the requirement isn't too bad for it, especially considering Shaman was a very efficient Invoker.

    BloodMefist
Both are solid, but I'd say I like Storming Invocation a bit better.

    SkeithDE
Hey, it's always nice to see a new face. And if it's a fellow Pokémon fan, even better :)

About your card, I like the effect, but the statline should definetly be 3/4 or even 4/4. The effect is positive (even if it has Overload), so it shouldn't have above vanilla stats.

  • First idea. He's supposed to make Armor out of dragon scales.

    EDIT: Added Dragonblight Ritualist.

  • It's in fact a good thing IMO, considering how amazing the story between Cariel and Tamsin was.

  • Two new iterations of the card, according to Aerojulwin's feedback. I agree this effect is very fitting for Rogue (since they would always get cards from another class), but I had to adapt the flavor and I think the previous art was better heh

Let me know which version you prefer.

  • Feedback:

    Demonxz95
I'm usually a fan of callback cards, so I like this quite a bunch. It's a big improvement over the original card, but that one sucked, so this is quite balanced imo.

    linkblade91
The first version was just a less flexible Forbidden Shaping, but the current version is probably fine, since it can be quite good if you draw it at the start of the game. The Brawl resulting out of this would be pretty fun, although not much different from a Brawl with Forbidden Shaping. Oh, and extra points for the artwork.

    R
I still think it's a bit OP. It should be remaining mana, imo. Also, the Tavern Brawl would be more fun this way: you would need to think if it's better to fill the board or play a single card each turn to get bigger minions.

If you're afraid this would be too weak, you can always make it a 2/1.

    Aerojulwin
I don't think the lack of Evolve flavor is a big problem, since Evolve is a bit weird thematically most of the time.

I do agree with everyone else that the card should probably cost 2. Even with this change, I don't think it would be as strong as Evolve, since the clunkyness wouldn't make up for the extra minion.

Finally, I think this card is probably my favorite so far in terms of fun Tavern Brawl.

    Nirast
I really like it as a constructed card, but it's quite boring for a Tavern Brawl.

Comparing both versions, I prefer the effect of the former, but I think the later is more balanced. Maybe if you make it a 2 Mana 2/2 it would be more balanced with the former effect.

    BloodMefist
I do like the idea that you pick the class you don't want cards from. It would be a fine card to exist, but I think it lacks originality for a competition.

    BasilAnguis
Pretty funny card. I like the stupid twist on Zephrys XD

R: Is this total mana or remaining? Pretty good if the former, not so much if the latter.

If it was unspent mana, then I would have written it that way. But this is equal to the maximum mana for this turn. Do I need to write it in some other way?

I was pretty sure you meant unspent Mana 😅

I think the proper wording for all Mana would be "equal to your current Mana Crystals", but I'm not sure to be honest.

In any case, I think your card is quite OP if that's the intended effect you're going for. I know Forbidden Shaping is not very good, but your card is so much better than it (even the unspent version is, but to a more acceptable degree)
