The prologue to the Ashes of Outland story featuring the backstory of our new Demon Hunter Hero Illidan is now live!
Playing through the prologue will unlock the Demon Hunter class along with its Basic and Initiate sets, though you won't be able to play as them until Ashes of Outland releases on April 7th. We reviewed the Demon Hunter Basic and Initiate sets (Basic, Initiate Part 1 and Initiate Part 2) so head on over there to get a feel for the new cards.
If you'd like a fuller picture of Illidan's backstory, why not check out our lore guide?

VENGANCE!
You can play against the Demon Hunter AI in practice.
Best way to describe it: runs out of cards fast, can pack the board like warlock while going face with weapons like warrior AI.
Relentless in trying to bring your health down like Hunter AI, but good taunts and board clears can pretty much make it easier than any of those AI matches.
Also, don't play Rogue with card copying/stealing strategies; you won't get any cards. Blizz really doesn't want you to play those cards right now. Don't know if Priest or other stealing mechanics work.
The priest stealing mechanic actually works. Legend Stuff did this a week ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thUQPPMBDwg
Yeah I got some success with stealing as Priest but I did come up blank with a time I tried to take a neutral card from AI Demon Hunter via Madam Lazul. Weird.
The prologue was pretty fun overall. Nice balance of story and game. But that second match, the portal one ... That was just weird. Anyone else think so?
i thought playing coop with the ai was pretty dope
The Outland's lore guide is quite possibly the greatest thing I've came upon in weeks
I'll assume you were replying to someone else as I can hardly connect the dots here ...
The lore guide was great because it brought me a better understanding of the story-line at stake during the prologue;
both precisely covering the origin story of Illidan and his transition into becoming the very first Demon Hunter.
It won't let me delete the comment despite pressing delete multiple times.
Small indie website I guess. It lets me edit it, though...
At least Ill get an achievement for downvotes on a single comment.
Illidan's Prologue was pretty fun, I understand now why Metamorphisis is such a powerful tool
Because you didn't draw your weapons?
Prologue was really cool, has someone lost in the last chapter or made Medivth appear? I silenced the minion that was supposed to invoke him and also a friend of mine so this may be scripted.
April 7th is going to be nothing but DH mirror matches.
Will we be prepared?
I hope Libram Paladin will
At least we don't have to play the class the way we were forced to in this prologue.
That Cenatius matchup was a joke.
A little disappointed that the final battle with Cenarius wasnt a 'supposed to lose' fight.
At least we can see a little deeper how Maiev Shadowsong came to hate this guy.
Almost felt like it. His RnG is through the roof
It was the same for me, I had to restart the match because I lost to him!
The text in the news is a bit misleading. It’s not that you won’t be able to play as them “against other players” until the release of the expansion, you won’t be able to play as them, period. Even against the Innkeeper. You also cannot use new cards in decks or see/change/delete the one you get for free. Unless I’m missing something.
