It's the Burndown, Felfire style! Get a deck, hero power and treasure. Keep 'em if you win!
We've got last year's Felfire Festival Tavern Brawl returning with a new name and pretty crazy changes.
If you aren't familiar with the "burndown" style brawls, here's how it works!
- Queue up into Tavern Brawl and be given a deck created by an algorithm to get spells and minions based on a theme and mana curve.
- Each deck is given a different number in addition to its theme. The more a deck wins, the more it will spread!
- If you win your match, you'll keep your deck for the next brawl. Your score is recorded with that deck and displayed to your opponent at the end of the game.
- If you lose your match, you'll be given your opponent's deck for the next brawl.
Here are the two big differences!
- You'll receive a new Hero Power in addition to your deck so don't expect to be playing with the basics.
- On your first turn, a passive treasure will activate!
Hero Power & Passives
Some combinations witnessed to show you what cool stuff is possible. This is in no way an exhaustive list. Tell us what you're seeing in the comments below!
- Battlecry 17 (Shaman) - Potion of Vitality with Refresh
- Iron and Steel 24 (Warrior) - Dr. Boom's Remote with Shockwave
- Lil' Demons 17 (Warlock) - Crystal Gem with Forbidden Power
- Glaives of Fury 37 (Demon Hunter) - Elixir of Vim with Combination Strike

I opened this brawl with a Big Priest that had Soothe (-2 Attack to a minion until your next turn 1 mana) and Stargazing, so I could lock down the opponent's early game and curve into my Rez stuff. I thought I seriously lucked out into one of the stronger combos. I actually won my first 3 games.
Then I ran into a Mage with Khadgar's hero power and all his spells costing health instead of mana. He coined the elemental and I lost on turn 1.
Turn 1, see druid opponent with some weird hp.
"deal 3 damage to an enemy or heal friendlies for 3" for 0 mana, and he can do it twice.
Me. Deal 2 damage to yourself and summon an imp.
Concede turn 1.
And this, I'm led to believe, is the norm with increasingly stupid hero powers as you move upwards. Wouldn't know. I got my pack and got out while I still held my sanity.
Wish the quests actually understands that I had no chance from turn 1 so I can at very least concede and finish it up.
Hearthstone Community: "At least Tavern Brawls are immune to Demon Hunter being so dominant."
Blizzard: "Hold my Glaive."
This brawl quickly came from interesting to boring. It seems there is already only one class left and that´s druid with Choices, choices + Swarm 67 or Swarm. At last it´s all I´m seeing everytime I queue up.
Yeah, same. Worst part is that it's fucking boring. It's carried entirely by an uninteresting, OP hero power.
The Hunter deck "Agression 122" is also OP, but a lot more fun to play. It can beat Swarm 67 if you draw the right minions (Charge, Rush and Lifesteal minions).
Have you really not been seeing Burn 356? Its all I saw for a decade and a half.
No, in fact, I´ve never seen the deck Burn 356. Is it DH? In my 30+ brawl games I´ve only encountered Hunters, Priests, few Rogues and now all I see is Druids. Never played as/ against the other classes.. weird.. playing on EU btw.
It's mage and it has the hero power that summons an elemental that doubles your spells when you cast them, and has the treasure that makes spells cost health. It also has that 4 mana spell in it that summons a copy of a minion and pyroblast so the deck can deal 40 damage as soon as turn 2 or turn 1 with the coin.
Whoa, that really sounds brutal.. I´ve yet to encounter it, but I´m affraid I´m stuck with druids for now.. Maybe different regions with different leaderboards? Hm..
Likely something like that. Either way the entire idea of the tavern brawl is just the same thing where one deck goes out of control, expect they've amplified it by a thousand.
Unless I am mistaken it is day one and we are already legion.
Queued up a shaman deck with boombots and pick-a-totem. Oh, and a bunch of random junk for cards. Fortunately (?) I was playing against a rogue with other boombots and rush leper gnome, and equally uninspired cards. We paper-cut each other for a while until I was able to drop an 8-8 something and eventually killed him. Yay. Peace out.
Aggression 61(Hunter) +1/+1 twice a turn for 0. I felt guilty even playing it. People are conceding before I get to to get their deck. It feels even worse than Mercenaries 262. I can’t tell you about the deck itself for haven’t gotten enough into a battle to check it out.
Beasts & Buffs 182 (Druid) - Dragonflame with Battle Totem
Screw Swarm 7 all my homies hate Swarm 7
I miss Swarm 7, it was so slow.
Oooh, really interesting! It's great to be able to play with those highly unusual Hero Powers!
Nvm, it's 0 mana Dragonflame or Gruul's or bust
I wish it wasn't a burndown. It progressively gets less fun as the week goes on until it's hell.
It would be enjoyable longer if it was a different deck each time or there was a spread limit.
Edit: Looks like the winning decks was already found within 1 hour:
"Deal 3 twice every turn for free."
"Give all your minions +2+2 every turn, wherever they are for free."
"Pyroblast your opponent x4 on turn 2 / 1 with coin"
I think it would be cool since they have had a lot of these "burndown" brawls if they would retire the leading one every 24 hours and randomly give everyone a new starting deck. would make for a much more varied experience.
