Let's take it down a notch, there, brawler. Make a deck using only cards from the Basic and Classic sets, but none of those fancy Epics of Legendaries, ya hear?
We're jumping to the past in more way than once this week with the Tavern Brawl! We first saw "A Peek to the Past" in 2017, where the brawl was shown twice (May & October) and then it was locked away in the great Hearthstone vault. Since then, we've had quite a few changes to these two sets making this brawl very different from the original balance. Here are all the Common & Rare changes.
Demon Hunter is NOT available for play in this week's Brawl - good call, Blizzard!

As you can see, there have been a ton of changes to these sets from back then! With 15 card balance changes, 13 removals, and 14 additions, we're in for a fun week! Priest is the only class to receive a massive overhaul, though changes are sprinkled in every class that isn't Warrior.
What decks are you looking to play this week?
Comments
This is the first time ever when i click 'complete my deck' and the AI put a pair of Chillwind Yeti in there.
I don't know, man.. It just feel wholesome!
When Chillwind Yeti is quite literally auto-include ^^
Vanilla was a simpler time
Feels nice to have a reason to use Highmane again, midrange Hunter was as good of a deck for this brawl as I thought it was
Hmmmm...
turns out one particular class is broken in this scenario
Wait, I thought you couldn't play DH in this brawl?
It literally says in the post, "Demon Hunter is NOT available for play in this week's Brawl - good call, Blizzard!" or have I misunderstood something?
you can't CHOOSE it when creating a deck in the tavern brawl page, but if you copypasta the deckcode and go into the tavern brawl it works.
Huh, I didn't know that. It reminds me of a bug where you could put cards form another class in your deck by copying the deckcode.
Just drop a Questing Adventurer and go to town.
It's Yeti tiiimeeee!!!!!
Just went Mage to kill it... I am not a fan of this brawl
Won at the first attempt with this deck
Isn't Ice Lance missing from the list of cards removed?
I believe it had already rotated when this brawl first appeared, and therefore wasn't included.
That awkward moment, when you copy a Demon Hunter deck string for this Brawl and it actually works. Fix your game, Blizz! xD
Mur-lock FTW!
Thanks for the idea. My opponent conceded on T4.
Let the aggro battles begin
I've been wanting this because I'm fairly new, and I want to see what the "old days" were like: far less crazy. It seems like there are far fewer comeback mechanics. It's harder than I thought too because I am not so familiar with the older cards. Still fun. Cobbled together a zoolock deck.
Epics and legendaries were just as important in the old days as they are now, so it's not really a great representation of what the metagame was like, especially since so many cards have changed or been replaced.
What this brawl does show well though how most decks didn't have enough tools in a specific direction to make the really focussed archetypes we see today. There were a couple of decks like Freeze Mage and Miracle Rogue that were an exception, but most things were a bit more midrange-y because you had to make up the 30 cards somehow.
You might find it quite interesting to watch a few Youtube videos from HS beta (late 2013 to April 2014). Kripp and Trump have plenty from back then, but there's lots more if you're not a fan of them.
