Later today marks the beginning of the final week of the Forbidden Library event in Hearthstone. Nothing major is going on today outside of the return of an old card back into the shop, but tomorrow is where the real action starts.
Magic of Dalaran Card Back Returns
Later today the Dalaran card back will be returning to the shop for 1 week! This card back was originally available during the June 2017 ranked play season, so if you're a newer player or just missing that season, you'll be able to add this card back to your collection.
- You can purchase it for 500 Gold.
- The card back is also available for real money. (2.99 Euros, $2.99 USD)
Heroic Brawliseum - September 23
We don't have a normal Tavern Brawl this week, which is probably a good thing since it would have most likely only been a repeat (technically it still is). It has been over 3 years since we last saw Heroic Brawliseum which was during brawl #99 on May 2, 2017.
- This is a paid Tavern Brawl (1000 Gold or $9.99).
- You construct a deck using your own Standard cards to participate.
- Like Arena, there is a reward structure in place based on your wins and you can only go a max of 12 wins with your run.
- The gamble is huge. 12 Wins is insane value!
Here is the rewards breakdown based on your wins. Your break-even at 5 wins, with roughly 1000 gold worth of value out of the rewards. (1 Dust is roughly 1 Gold, a pack is 100 Gold)

maaaaan(....
I really wish the tavern brawl was toggleable Standard/Wild. As a Wild only player, I don't have a Standard collection. I could make a janky budget deck but then if I likely go 0-3 it's just a huge loss and I would have been better without entering. If I could play with a Wild deck I have experience with, my chances would be much better.
Really, if Blizz only makes it either Standard or Wild, then one half of the playerbase is bound to be unsatisfied.
This is exactly what needs to be done - as a wild main, I also want to play this in wild format, and I'm pretty sure a significant portion of the community rathers standard. This change alone will improve the experience significantly.
This has been such a disappointing event. We got a few shop deals that most people didn’t like, and we got a competition with a very expensive buy-in. The only freebie was the new solo content, and we didn’t get the sorely-needed meta shake-up that we learned to expect last year.
There was also new Battlegrounds content, but that didn’t feel like a big deal because we’re getting Battlegrounds changes regularly, and the new friends mode was a disappointment to most people.
Don't forget that they also usually do a pretty large event in October for Hallow's End. This was likely just a themed way to showcase the new single-player content as well as put some stuff in the store to test the waters for the class specific bundle (Needs work for my money).
As an event it has been rubbish, but I don't think it was really intended to be a major event despite them presenting it as one. I think it was just something to distract us in the time before something actually major happens next month at the usual mid-expansion point. I.e. the new game mode and possibly a real SA solo adventure. Maybe that would use the rules of the new game mode?
Good point. If we get a “real” big event next month, then I’ll be satisfied.
There will be. Major event with *5* new things added for you to buy in the shop! :P
Plus a new brawl that costs $10 a shot! Oh wait that's in this "event".
wonder what the best deck would be for the tavernbrawl. getting 50 packs and 1.1k gold back for 12 wins just seems so good.but you have to be ofc a top legend player to archieve that i guess
Being good helps, but being lucky helps significantly more
Since it’s a competitive Standard game, you can assume that the standard meta decks will do best here. That’s not the most exciting answer, unfortunately.
