It looks like something spooky is going on in Arena again because a popup when starting the game has alerted us to the start of Hallow's End in 7 days!
We don't have any details on the event yet, but we do know there will be a Patch 18.4 coming next week alongside the Battlegrounds Rating reset. Last year, Blizzard dumped 23 cards from Wild into Standard, though that didn't go over very well so we can't imagine we'll see a repeat of that. Here's what we're assuming is going to happen (speculation hype!):
- Special Tavern Brawls
- Dual-Class Arena
- Legendary Quests
- The return of the Hallow's End card back from October 2014.
- A bundle with Wild cards that no one wants to buy because they still won't have announced the new game mode.
Remember, none of the above stuff has been confirmed, though Arena is very likely to be the case, it's just based on popular event themes Blizzard has used in the past.
Everything should be confirmed next week with patch notes, so stay tuned for that and our datamining.

That Hallow's End Cardback, is it datamined or just a hope?
If it's the first, will it be offered or available at the store for 5packs, pardon, 500gold?
If I understood correctly, it's just a hope. All the above possibilities are just speculation.
We can dream though ;)
FINALLY, a REAL event! I'm excited! I'm wondering what they will do this year, and i'm hyped for the announcement video! It's always fun to hear the headless horseman explain the event/rewards in rhymes! Also i guess i gotta start an arena run for some free resources! :)
Also i wouldn't mind them bringing back some old cards again, as long as the duration is only a few weeks, AND they actually bring good, fun and balanced cards back! I would like seeing cards like Zilliax (Unity. Precision. Perfection.), Yogg-Saron, Hope's End (The nerfed version, because standard can't handle his full power.), Hagatha the Witch (Might help shaman in value wars + fits a bit with hallows end theme), Lynessa Sunsorrow (Okay this MIGHT be too much/strong, but would be fun), The Last Kaleidosaur (Fun, and it would fit in libram paladin.. maybe instead of Lynessa Sunsorrow now that i think about it..) or The Boomship (Nice for big warrior). These are just guesses, but i would like to see these in standard play again for like a month at most :)
Last time this weent horribly because it wasn't balanced, and there were no tweaks/balance changes. Also the selected cards were way too strong overall. (Except poor warlock, which pretty much got only Renounce Darkness) As long as they would balance it, if they were to do this again, it would be fine. Also i'm pretty sure they made standard unplayable so people would play battlegrounds instead, which released around then.... WAIT A SECOND.. making standard unplayable so people play a newly released gamemode.... were still getting a new gamemode... oh no..
New game mode is supposed to come in phase (aka august expansion) but its almost time for phase 3 (aka december expansion) and no word on it LuL
Amazing work Blizz
In which world is october close to december?
indi team
What if the new game mode is the book of heroes? I would be very disappointed but... this could be the case:(
Hope it won't be boring like the current event.
I wish they would do more of the likes of galagrond's awakening. Not necessarily an adventure, but introduce new cards to spice up the meta mid expansion.
I hope they wont rotate broken cards in this Time, IF they're doing a „Doom in the Tomb" - like Event again, and instead bring back some that underperformed. Like, maybe bring back the Rogue-Secrets from KnC, or the Un'Goro Quests?
Or what about Tri-Class Cards?
I'm disappointed with Team 5 at the moment with the current event, and I want to express it by joking about how much of the new event will consist of adding new exciting things to buy in the shop!!! (the shop is now the main part of the game).
But I don't want to be negative about something that has historically been a fun event, so fingers crossed it will be good!
As others said, leave 2 wins on an active arena run.
Come on Team 5 - you got this it will be great!!!!
Don't forget to have active run at 2 losses guys!
They probably won't do another wild bundle, especially after JUST having one 2 weeks ago.
I know in previous Hallows End events sometimes a new hero and a bundle is available for purchase, like Sir Annoy-O.
I wouldn't mind another hero to add to my collection.....but if it is I'd prefer it to be Rogue...
Looking at the winrates, Arena seems to be in pretty "ok" state, but... Dual Class is probably most fun variation of Arena :) I am looking forward to it :)
I still have some hope, that in the 18.4 patchnoes they will mention, maybe a little glimpse of upcoming new mode, coming somewhere between October - November area :)
Well that would help placate the players disappointed by the Forbidden Library event, especially if they thought it was taking the place of the usual (and much better) events.
I honestly wouldn't mind them bringing back a few Wild cards again, so long as they are more careful with what they bring back. After all, they only really messed up with 2 out of 23 cards last time.
The wild cards were fun for a little bit, but they were here for too long. If they did it for a certain week, I could accept that more than the entire month (or two in the previous case).
I think Doom in the Tomb would have been fantastic had they done it for 2-3 weeks, preferably ending exactly on Oct 31. That's basically enough to shake up the meta and discover powerful archetypes while still having a clear end in sight.
Agreed. A week or two would've been the ideal. Bringing back wild cards was a novel idea, just not the length they were brought back.
Agreed, although it depends a bit on how much nonsense they introduce. I know I was only fed up of Evolve and N'Zoth being around that long, and didn't mind the rest of them, even right at the end.
Dual class arena with dual class cards has some real meme value. Imagine the scenario: Jaina with Demon Hunter hero power: you can get Mage/Shaman cards, Mage/Rogue cards, DH/Hunter cards and DH/Warlock cards, so technically, up to 6(!) classes in one deck. Now that's value (or your average Thief Rogue or Priest game LUL).
REMINDER: In addition to the information above you will likely want to have an ACTIVE Arena run going when Hallow's End begins. Seeing as they are warning players about the arrival of the event in Arena, this means we'll see all active runs forced to end, and you'll get rewards AND a free Arena ticket. So sometime between now and then, start and Arena run, get to 2 losses and STOP!
The same should also be true for the end of the Seasonal event as well.
