BUSTED
This might single-handedly make Deathrattle Rogue a thing in Wild. Normally you wouldn't have a hope in hell of keeping up in value with Res Priest, which is why a Control Rogue cannot really succeed at the moment, or if you tailored your deck to be chock full of value, you end up being too slow to compete with aggro or combo. But with this, you can vomit out your hand very quickly, playing minions that give you great bodies on the back end, such as Mechanical Whelp, Sneed's Old Shredder, Aya (if playing Jade), Feugen and Stalagg or Cairn, and then you can keep up with Priest through N'Zoth, Shadowstep and Gang Up. The only question is which Deathrattle minions to choose, because while something like Twilight Summoner does give you a good body in the end, you want your N'Zoth boards to be threatening both before and after AoE. Definitely something I'm going to try out, Deathrattle Rogue has always been one of my favourites.
I think what will really make it shine in wild are Spiritsinger Umbra, Unearthed Raptor and Sylvanas Windrunner. Maybe Shadowcaster and Sonya Shadowdancer are worth it too if you are limiting it to cards you prefer to be 1/1s anyway.
Like you I have always liked 'rattle rogue and I'm excited to see it have greater scope for the multi-card combos that made me love the class as a whole.
Anka os a beast here!
They keep pushing deathrattles for rogues (Class Identity post from a few weeks ago, the spellstone from K&C), yet they have ZERO deathrattle minions in the Classic set. This means they have to completely rely on minions from expansions to build on that theme, yet there hasn't been useful/powerful deathrattle rogue minions since Streets of Gadgetzan.
Lore-wise, I also don't see why deathrattles would be linked to rogues over other classes. Stealth or even Mechs (by relating to using tools to opening locks or arming/disarming traps) would seem a much better fit.
In fairness, there are no deathrattles in the priest classic set either and hunter only has one. For that matter, there just aren't many deathrattles in classic.
As for the link to rogue, I think it stems from: poisons and darkness -> undead -> deathrattle. The first step is a thematic link to what the undead are associated with in WoW, while deathrattles serve a bit like the undead tribe in HS.
The truth is, the concept of a fantasy rogue is so broad (from ninjas and assassins to thugs, swindlers, thieves and pirates) that some good or even great fits to the rogue theme have to be cut in HS. That's exactly how Paladin ended up with secrets: rogue was simply doing too many things (and apparently paladins - the least likely class to keep secrets - weren't doing very much).
It rhymes with broken
Props on the trolling Blizz
She can be good in two types of decks. 1st - dr rogue with Mechanical whelp and 5 mana trigger your dr minion twice plus mechs, Gral not bad too for another value, but, i think, can be good without it. Ofc waiting another dr minions.
2nd - mecha'thun, very strong with myra's element and a lot of cheap rogue spells. Bad thing - a lot of counters like Hecklebot or unseen saboteur and ofc, like always for rogue - no heal, bad board clears and no vanish too.
Deathrattle bonanza incoming.
Mecha'thun Rogue incoming.
For Wild too, which is meaningful if they will ever nerf BP and QMage.
Looks like Mecha'thun Rogue is back on the menu boys!
Wait... This is IT? An hour for ONE CARD !? I WAS EXPECTING A WHOLE LIVESREAM!!! I MADE POPCORN, FOR YOGG'S SAKE!
Blizzard: Never. EVER. do something this boneheaded again!
It does a great job making all the unplayable rogue deathrattle minions better. Anub'arak, Myra Rotspring, and Gral, the Shark suck just a bit less now. I'll play them all together if I unpack this. :D
I don't think it works with Myra Rotspring because she gets a deathrattle as part of her battlecry. She is not naturally a deathrattle minion.
Anub'arak also seems pretty meh since it will still be a 9 mana card when it's returned to hand.
It doesn't work directly with Myra no, but you can choose which minion to discover with her with Anka in mind. In fact since you already want to pick minions where the deathrattle is more important than the body (since Myra's stats are always 4/2 regardless of the choice), she should normally work quite well with Anka so long as you play her first.
As for Anub'arak, you are again correct that it is nothing special, but it makes Anub'arak -> Unearthed Raptor much more realistic. It's never going to be a top tier deck but it will be a cool one.
Control warrior won't like this :) Mechathun Rogue!
Broken card. Mechatun rogue will be crazy thanks to this card and Myra's legendary spell
it looks pretty good. great deathrattle combo potential.
