The Book of Heroes Adventure continues today with the introduction of Rexxar! This is the final week of fun in Hearthstone's Masquerade Ball event.
- The new chapter in the adventure is completely free to play.
- Completing the chapter's 8 bosses rewards you with 1 Standard Hunter Pack.
- A Legendary Quest becomes active which rewards you 3 packs (Scholo, Uldum, Year of the Dragon) for beating Leoroxx.
We previously datamined the adventure if you're interested in checking out what to expect out of it.
The Rexxar Shop Bundle
If you like the new Rexxar portrait, you can buy it in a special bundle in the shop for the next week!
- There are new voicelines! Though Jaina is going to receive new ones in the future.
- The bundle costs $10 USD.
- You'll receive the portrait alongside 5 Hunter Packs. Solid way to increase your Hunter collection for newer players.
Reminder: Last Chance for Dual-Class Arena
Dual-class arena is going away on October 20. If you haven't used your free ticket yet, go on an Arena run courtesy of Blizzard.
- Remember to only play until you get 2 losses if this is your final run of the event.
- Having an in-progress run still grants you rewards when the Arena "season" retires.
- Having that in-progress run also gives you a free arena ticket.
Comments
I must say one thing that the story did open my eyes to a history that I didn't know, which was Rexxar actually fought for the horde in the first 2 wars of humans vs orcs.
Obviously he doesn't appear in the first 2 warcraft games, so he must have been an unusually lucky grunt somewhere since the orcs lost the fight canonically.
Can anyone actually confirm if the story relates anything to Rexxar's appearance in Warcraft 3? I knew there was one mission with him and the rest was something like a dlc that needed payment. Far as a I knew that mission was the first time Rexxar met Thrall.
Everything between the quilboar and Daelin Proudmoore fights are taken from Rexxar's role in WC3. He does a bunch of tasks for helping establish Orgimmar and uniting the races of Thrall's Horde (e.g. rescuing Baine to cement relations with the Tauren).
Nobbel87's video on him (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0wP77NMR7U) covers it well. The video is now 7 years old, and it's a shame that it's still pretty much up to date aside from a couple a small roles in BfA. They really haven't made good use out of Rexxar, especially since they designated him 'Champion of the Horde'.
I like these book of heroes things. I don't know anything about the stories of these people, so a little hit is good. And I think it would be welcome if Blizzard just kept releasing a short, linear story to play through and get a pack after the book of heroes is done. Once a month or so.
Book of murlocs.
I open 2 book of hero pack and it gave me 3 legendary card... 1 jaina and 1 rexxar the free pack after finishing the quest... just wondering if this is unique or every 1st card you open each hero will give you legendary card... or it will be just like normal expansion 1 legend on your very 1st 10 pack
The answers are no and no: you are not guaranteed a legendary in the first pack, and there isn't even the usual 10 pack guarantee because they are classified as rare/special packs.
So you got very lucky. Congrats!
Anyone here bought 10 mage packs that can confirm this?
I know that golden packs have no rules, but class packs should have normal rules just as any other.
Oh thank you... I'm a f2p player so getting 2 legendary card on a free pack makes me so delighted.
The stories are barely connected,Jaina does appear, as does Thrall, but there is no prior knowledge required to understand the story. It isn't explicitly mentioned that the pop-up Jaina that appears in fight 3 belongs to the alliance, but that's the only thing I could think of.
Just also wanted to brag:got two legendaries from the four packs!
They're as related as they were in Warcraft proper. I don't know what more you were expecting. These are faithful Sparknotes retellings of the heroes' backstories.
They probably want to avoid covering the same ground twice anyway.
That's why you have to, accoarding to Kaptaintrips, play the Jaina Story first to unlock Rexxar's one.
Looks like you have to complete Jaina before playing Rexxar... bummer.
Havent started myself yet, is there a story progression that needs to be told in order? If not, that is a but silly, to not be able to choose which one(s) you want to play first.
the stories are connected
yeah, about as much as an orange is to an apple.
I played through both, and aside from the portraits, there's literally nothing more than the most minute connection between Rexxar's story and Jaina's. The only significant thing connecting the two is that one mission against a naga witch (no idea even if this is canon), of which Jaina spawns you 4 mirror images of herself.
Its possible to suggest that even if you knew nothing of Jaina aside from the fact that shes a human female, playing Rexxar's story wouldn't give you any more insight whatsoever. In fact, since Rexxar fights her father in the game, its possible to misconstrue that Jaina's a pirate or at least a sailor.
