We received 3 new card backs in yesterday's patch and there are a couple of them that are a bit different. Let's check them all out and see where they come from.
Before we jump in though, remember that you can always find all of Hearthstone's card backs in our dedicated (and sorted) card back gallery that updates every patch.
Sideshow Glow
Follow the lights to experience the ride of a lifetime!
The first card back in the patch that is obtainable by players for free.
You can unlock Sideshow Glow by leveling up to Level 10 in the Hearthstone Darkmoon Faire Rewards Track. How long will that take you? Head on over to our XP breakdown of the new progression feature.
Flight of the Val’kyr
When the cards don’t fall your way, sometimes you have to wing it.
Another unlock via the Rewards Track! Flight of the Val’kyr is a premium-only Rewards Track unlock and it comes with a hero!
How far in do you need to be for this Rewards Track unlock? It isn't too far in with this alternate Warrior hero and slick card back arriving at Level 25 in the Hearthstone Darkmoon Faire Rewards Track.
Fun fact: We originally datamined Annhylde back in patch 18.0 alongside a number of other new heroes. They were the only hero that was not a reskin of an existing character.
Ironforge
The Council of Three Hammers always strikes when Ironforge gets hot.
Last, and certainly not least, we've got the Ironforge card back!
This is a ranked gameplay reward for January 2021. While we might not be quite there yet, it does beg the question: Is this a hint of things to come or just some fun flavor to add to the game for our dwarven friends?
That's it for all the new card back unlocks in Hearthstone's Darkmoon Faire patch. Which card backs on this list are you looking to slap onto your decks?
Comments
They give us SO MANY card backs, but in the gameplay layout, they are barely seen... furthermore even though they spend effort to animate them, in-game they are usually static...
i like the fact that they went with the method of paying customers only get cosmetic items and a little bit of XP boost. theres no p2w factor, no additional packs or gold. its a good balance imo
In other words, Riot - who have done it like this right out of the gate with Legends of Runeterra - has given them a big wake up call.
precisely. They actually went full crazy in LoR. theres literally 0 reasons to spend money on that game unless for cosmetics. not to mention that when u actually pay money to buy cards u arent gambling on opening random packs
Which I appreciated so much, I've already spent more money in LoR than I have in six years of HS.
The Sideshow Glow card back, how long will it take to earn it?!?!
A few hours... depending on what mode and deck you are playing.
Not going to lie, I wish that we could see more of the card backs that WE own vs the ones that our opponent has. I like seeing the Curse of Nax card back that I earned, not just "showing it off" to my opponent as we play.
S Tier
Best Warrior Skin by far.
The Darkmoon Sideshow Glow card back is an instant favorite, love the detail there. Very cool of them to put that out as the free one.
That is, most definitely, a top-tier card back. Awesome stuff.
This may be a huge shock to most people, but I would love for a dwarf-centered card set to happen in the next year. I know this is contrary to what many people would likely assume of me, but it's true nonetheless. ;)
Same brother. Dwarves are by far the coolest fantasy race.
Well, we had a whole xpac set in Dalaran and Ironforge has a ton of lore and characters in it already so I could see it happening. Maybe some sort of return to Blackrock FT Ironforge
maybe a little save the princess moira from the black iron dwarves castle? the big bad dragon protecting the tallest tower? that'd be fun as hell
You know, I was actually considering calling you out specifically in the post - glad you commented :D
I never would have guessed you'd want a Dward centric anything.
Never in a million years ;p
Cool catch Flux :)
