Ben Lee, Game Director of Hearthstone, has responded to the community about the rewards track.
Quote From Ben Lee We have been listening to your feedback regarding the Rewards Track and it’s clear we missed the mark both in how we communicated and implemented the full functionality of this first version of our rewards system.
We apologize for the confusion and disappointment we have caused.
During the natural progression of the rewards cycle, our intention was, and still is, to give out extra XP over time through a variety of ways. The aim is to help players get through the Rewards Track, or catch-up if they join later in an expansion phase, ultimately ensuring players earn more rewards.
We also didn’t provide any details for how events will link into and support the rewards system. We will be providing bonus XP for various activities at each seasonal event every expansion cycle, and any additional bonus events as needed, again with the aim of ensuring that our players obtain more rewards. Our failure to communicate these factors has led to incomplete projections, for which we apologize.
In addition, you’ve provided us with a wealth of feedback, and we agree that the pack rewards at the end of the track don’t feel appropriate for the effort it takes to get them. We’re going to adjust these rewards in the later stages of the track, swapping six packs for a total of 1350 gold that players can spend as they see fit. If any players reach this milestone before we implement these changes, they will be retroactively compensated.
Our goal for the Rewards Track continues to be that all Hearthstone players earn more gold and total rewards per expansion. We’ll continue to evaluate the impact of these changes, listen to your feedback, and iterate as needed until we get it right.
We will stay true to our word and ensure that the system lives up to what we all believe Hearthstone deserves.
Thank you,
Ben Lee
Game Director

Oh, wow. Nobody could expect that they would be THAT generous! In the end we still end up with less gold anyway. Why do we need reward track if it will be 90% gold anyway?
I'd prefer the rest of the packs to be swapped for another 2475 gold :)
This part is okay because it opens up the gold to more players (Battlegrounds mainly since they didn't have tons of dailies) but yeah, the rewards pass needs to be more than just gold, packs, and heroes if you paid money
I'm not gonna put away my pitchfork until we'll get at least as much gold and non-gold rewards as before.
This is indeed a step in the right direction, but I'm not satisfied at all: showing gratitude right now means settling for what we received, and I really don't want this to happen.
I'll never lose my good manners, but I'll always keep asking for better. Blizz is still far away from cleaning everything up.
I'm glad to see some changes are coming, and I'm happy in the fact that Blizzard are acknowledging and responding to some of the main criticisms mentioned by this community and a fair amount of streamers.
The pack change is great, glad they did that. However the "wait for events" reply to the backlash they got is... worrying. I for one don't trust them at all to just sit, wait and hope this time they'll do it right.
Let's take a look at their statement of "events"
Traditionally, HS has a few annual events (here's a list)
The Lunar New Year, the Midsummer Fire festival, Hallow's End and the upcoming Winter's Veil are probably the events they're referring to, allowing them to add seasonal achievements hopefully for additional experience like their press statement says.
They may add additional experience achievements during the mid expansions, too. Notice how the Dark Moon Faire Achievements have space for one more achievement to unlock?
Anyway that's what I'm getting out of their statement.
Makes me wanna buy the bundles but I'm probably not going to - this game's still too expensive, yo
Great. Hope they communicate properly in future.
