A Hearthstone patch is arriving that brings changes to the end of the rewards track, the same ones that were announced by Ben Lee a few days ago.
- The patch is now live.
- Updates on mobile will take longer.
- If you have already completed the milestones, don't worry, you will be credited.
We'll be digging into the patch and let you know if there is anything special going on.
Nothing special, the whole patch is detailed in the notes below.
Quote From Kerfluffle Hey everyone,
We’re currently deploying a client hotfix that includes the following:
- Updated items on the Rewards Track.
- Level 33 – Old: Year of the Dragon Card Pack → New: 150 Gold
- Level 37 – Old: Scholomance Academy Card Pack → New: 200 Gold
- Level 40 – Old: Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Card Pack → New: 200 Gold
- Level 42 – Old: Ashes of Outland Card Pack → New: 200 Gold
- Level 46 – Old: Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Card Pack → New: 300 Gold
- Level 48 – Old: Year of the Dragon Card Pack → New: 300 Gold
Until this hotfix is fully deployed, some players may get the new rewards but still see the old ones. If you reached these milestones before we implemented these changes, you’ll be retroactively compensated up to the level you reached in a future update.

More rewards at the end of the Track? Lovely. Except I'm extremely Time Poor. If I can't make at least 6000g by the end of this Expansion I'm out. I'm not giving anymore money to Blizzard. I'm currently Level 21 and am sitting at 260g. Its not looking good.
still garbage!
I feel like the biggest problem is the removal of player agency. It used to be possible for players to decide how much gold they wanted to grind. And if they wanted to put in a ton more effort, they got more reward. I guess with the 150g per level at the end, this might still be possible. But it won't really feel like it to the player. To them, it feels like they are just earning what Blizzard decided they should earn at that point, not necessarily what they wanted to earn at that point. Though I will give them some credit that replacing packs with gold returns some player agency.
But the thing is, I'm fairly confident that this second version was really their prime version all along - and that they launched the worse version just to see how much they could get away with - and also to make this version seem better than it actually is.
Just remember when we first heard about the battle pass, the "original idea" was for each level that awarded gold would award ONLY 70 GOLD!
I'm sure Blizz adjusted those gold figures when the first outcry was heard

That's a good first step. 3-5 more and this reward track would actually work and be... rewarding.
Can we now get an update, that we are actually able to earn XP for playing this game? Quests should be bonus and not main XP gainer. So we are able to reach these levels? At least it feels like it.
Its weekend so dont expect before monday and if do get a message its pretty much guranteed wont be updated ingame till monday at earlier
Now implement it for every card pack level.
I didn’t get a new quest, and my quest re-rolls were not refreshed today. Anyone else had the same issue?
Yes, yesterday I had an issue with not receiving a daily quest, I did not attempt a re-roll however.
This is an issue that they are aware of on reddit and their own forums. They are "looking into it" however it's possible the believe they fixed it with a recent hotfix.
I have a theory: Blizzard did the math, calculated that the extra Epic and Legendary on the track were worth at least 15 packs, and so by their calculations this new system is equivalent to the old one. Now everyone is mad, and Blizzard is afraid to show their math because they don’t want to admit how overpriced the Legendaries are..
After analyzing all the free rewards that players received over two years, I came to the conclusion that the developers have a hidden value calculator for every element of the game economy. Despite the wide variety of different types of awards almost every phase brought the players the same number of awards.
The value of 1 legendary card plus 1 epic card = 1100 gold or 11 current packs or 2000 dust (Of course, I cannot say that my approach to calculating awards is the right one. But it displays certain trends). Blizzard gave us 1350 more gold, but took away 6 packs (2 current and 4 previous ones, the value of these packs is equivalent to 350 gold). Thus, our profit was only 1000 gold. Please note that the estimated value of the 1 Legendary + 1 Epic cards and our real profit from the extra gold are very similar. Blizzard decided to just gife us these two cards.
But at the same time, they can proportionally reduce the rewards for events and the players won't even notice it. Such manipulations are happening all the time! For example, the first Legendary card and three packs in Rewards Track are no longer a login in gift. They became part of the Rewards Track awards.
Another example. Do you remember the one-time rank reward? Do you think you received an additional award? In fact, rewards during events have been proportionally reduced throughout the expansion phase. In total, we received the same amount of resources.
Bliizzard promised that we would not receive less gold, Bliizzard promised us that some players would receive more rewards, But Blizzard did not promise that each player would receive more rewards!
Blizzard will not give us the opportunity to get additional resources, as this could destroy the economy and monetization of the game. This does not mean that they are bad guys, it means that they want to make money!
i thoight just said wouldnt recieve less REWARDS not gold in general?(could be wrong though)
but i couldve sworn that was they said.
I believe during an interview between Frodan and a developer, it was said that they weren’t taking away our gold. The perceived value of packs and cards vary from individual to individual; it was silly of Blizzard to even try to equate them with gold.
Why not give 100g to us to choose what pack we want? So sad seeing a game that I love going this way. First Apex Legends, now HS...
Hey, Apex did more than a 180 on their new system. It’s now way easier than before to complete, AND they gave us 10 free levels. I’m level 40 on the battle pass just 16 days into the new season. That’s huge! If Blizzard does something similar, I will continue playing this game. If this ridiculously small change is all that they do, I’m out
Still 3 times less gold than previous system.... Blizzard shame on you.
That's a big stretch. I'm in no way defending the reward structure as such but it's not three times as much, maths has proven that.
Utterly false. Ugh.
Gave the app one star like plenty of other guys. I'm very unsatisfied with how Activision Blizzard handles the situation.
