I certainly can't argue that Princess Talanji fits into any good decks right now, but I think you're being a little unfair to Blizzard with respect to the support. We've seen Control Priest decks with a lot of Thief Priest tools in the past (e.g. Drakonid Operative, Entomb, and Archbishop Benedictus). Those decks tend to shine most when their tools gain them tempo and steal cards (all of the wild cards I mentioned, and in Standard something like [Hearthstone Card (Madam Lazul) Not Found] or maybe Holy Water despite its horrible cost).
There's no shortage of tools that support thieving in Priest: Thoughtsteal, Mind Vision, Seance, and Cloning Device are all tools in Standard on top of the ones I mentioned above, and there are even more in Wild. The problem with them is that they're all zero tempo, high value plays. They can work in a slow meta game, but have limited applications outside of that. And all that seems quite appropriate - if Priest got lots and lots of high tempo thief cards, they'd probably be very unbalanced (see Drakonid Operative as a prime example of this).
Ok, i m not fair for Bliz, but only 1 Madam Lazul was their support. In this Expansion - zero support for steal priest and this deck is bad and really need something, but how said above - Moorabi was mistake too with freeze Sham archtype, forget about it, poor priest with dead core mechanic.
Also about Drakonid Operative, he was broken not coz of copy mechanic, coz of - it's 100% vanila card with super extra.
Well, my point is that [Hearthstone Card (Madam Lazul) Not Found] isn't the only support tool for Thief Priest, and that in fact the problem has never really been support for the archetype because there's lots of it. The problem is a lack of payoffs to make up for the lack of tempo from that support. Where Rogue gets cards like Underbelly Fence, Spectral Cutlass, Obsidian Shard, Vendetta, and Tess Greymane as payoffs for low tempo burgle cards, Princess Talanji is the only major payoff Priest has for that archetype.
I think the thought behind that is that because the cards are not strictly random, but rather random cards from your opponent's deck, the card quality is naturally higher and the payoffs can be lower. Additionally, Priest has lots of AoE to deal with higher tempo decks. That's probably true to a point, but Hearthstone is at its core a tempo game, so these kinds of slow plays mean you need even more powerful plays later, and good AoE on turn 5 is often too little, too late.
You're right that Drakonid Operative was exceptional because it had a vanilla statline and a powerful effect, but it would probably still have been quite good as a 4/6 or a 3/6, or at 6 mana. Crystalline Oracle is perhaps a better example of a Thief Priest card that saw play and was useful both as a stealing tool and a tempo tool.
It's safe to say I can disenchant my TALANJI with only one expansion left.
Here hoping the meta get slower (but not mirror armor-up-guy slow).
Reborn Priest confirmed.
On the other hand: jeez more sticky taunts, glhf Standard players...
Taunt is too slow, need good 3 or 4 mana taunts else you're dead before you can even get this one up.
Looks like Blizz are pushing the neutral taunts this expansion...
I'm not sure on Khartut Defender, it's similar to Sludge Belcher (a strong card), but for 1 mana more there's the potential to heal for 6.
It seems a bit slow to me though.
I don't know, the slime left behind by sludge belcher having 2 health was always a pretty big deal since it couldn't die to basic hero powers.
But if you play against aggro this card ist pretty strong. 8 Health to clunk down while getting 6 Heal is great for 6 mana against any aggro deck.
Only 5 health, right? Reborn brings back the minion with 1 health.
Against an aggro deck turn 6 might be too late, especially if they have a large board and a Shieldbreaker or can just burn you over the top.
The definition of a SILENCE meta
Wow !
Both cards are crazy af. Wretched Reclaimer can kill your own reborn minions to summon token + original minion with Reborn to tutor it more.
So Priest is all about resurrection and no longer will have different mechanic than Inner Fire and Resurrect ? That is so much push for a mechanic in a class.
I mean, there is also heal mechanic which is the core mechanic of Priest. Why don't Team 5 give it a fuck ? Also they seemed like they completely given up Shadow Priest theme.
These cards are good but same shit all over again.
Rez me pls ! Rez me pls !
Priest's quest must be "resummon x minions, reward: x" because of all those push with reborn + Resurrects.
I'm glad the defender is 6 mana - still good, not broken. At 5 could have been a nightmare for aggro.
better Terrorscale Stalker for priest
