Dean is up to greatness this evening as he is holding his third weekly Q&A on Twitter. We've got an update on Tavern Brawls to share which is both good and bad news.
- The Live Content team works on Brawls, Duels, Book of Heroes, and another new mode.
- Due to the ongoing work for everything that isn't Tavern Brawl, it has been put on the backburner.
- Dean thinks we'll see more Tavern Brawl content once these are closer to being finished.
With the new game mode expected within the next 2 months, it should be released before the new Hearthstone year starts and it's quite possible we'll be hearing about it at BlizzConline, that's one big task off the checklist. Book of Heroes still has 6 more chapters to go which depending on how far ahead those are in development, it could mean we might have a long stretch this year without any new Brawls.
Although it is disappointing to hear that this lack of new content in Tavern Brawl is here to stay for a while, at least there is something to look forward to once the team frees up some time on their other, larger commitments.
What do you think?
Quote From IksarHS What’s the plan for Tavern Brawls? They are listed on all phases of the roadmap for Year of the Phoenix, yet we had mostly repeats this year. Should we expect this many repeat Tavern Brawls as the team focusing on other game modes? Any thought to changing the Classic pack reward?
The team responsible for Tavern Brawl content is also responsible for duels, book of heroes, and another entirely new game mode we haven't talked about much yet. They've just been busy. I'd expect some newer tavern brawls when those things get closer to release but not until then

If that team has been the people working on the Book of Heroes, what has the solo adventure team been working on all this time?
I imagine that the people working on HS aren't dedicated to specific teams and will work on multiple of them.
Thats a shame. Wouldn’t this be a nice little catch up mechanic for new and returning players? Some stuff like summoning ungodly amounts of Greyboros is just nothing I plan to do with the current cards available..
Not to mention the meme that is the Yogg secret.
They will always want to promote the newest content, and while it would be nice to have the option of doing these and getting some extra XP, it could, and would, soft-force some players into getting older cards just so they can get the XP.
I think a middle ground could be that the achievements would award XP for when the set is in Standard rotation, that way it still promotes their main game format, allows new players to get some bonus XP while getting "relevant" cards.
