DreamHack Beyond's Triple Hearthstone Tournament Finals Are Here - Details Within!

Published 4 years, 4 months ago by (Updated 4 years, 4 months ago)

As we have covered in our piece on the entirety of the DreamHack Beyond experience and its relevance to Hearthstone, The Three-Headed Dragon Challenge has been slowly unfolding over the entire week - all the Swiss rounds and the Top 16s matches being played off broadcast. But now the time has come to put the remaining Top 8 players from each region in the proper spotlight.

You can catch all upcoming action on Twitch, on the DreamHackHS channel - the same one that has been dormant for quite a long while... And as it happens, the casters involved should also look somewhat familiar:

Going by 'Regions'

Quote From DreamHack Hearthstone
All talent will take on one or two regions! Arrow pointing rightwards then curving downwards

@jiadee_ & @DarrochBrown will take care of the APAC region!

@coL_Sottle & @LorindaGames will bring you the EU broadcast!

@Azumoqt will be joined by @LorindaGames who will also be part of the Americas broadcast!

Do note that these tournaments aren't strictly 'regional' - as long as somebody had a satisfying card collection on any server of choice, they were able to compete there rather than just be limited to their current residence - and so it shouldn't be of surprise to anyone if some players ended up mixing and matching.

Asia-Pacific

The broadcast begins on July 30 (that is today!) at 16:00 KST (00:00 PDT, 03:00 EST, 09:00 CEST).

Here is who we can expect to see:

Congratz to the Three-Headed Dragon Challenge APAC Top 8:

There is at least one name here that should be instantly recognizable to all Grandmasters viewers - LambySeries, fittingly making it for APAC. @lzIWdLcQDUteLtz is actually the handle of hirosueryouko, who recently made a deep run into Top 16 of Masters Tour Dalaran.
Update: In the final battle of mueseoyuchangjo vs Jimon, only one could have emerged victorious as Alexstrasza's champion:

Now that we have our Alextrasza's champion Jimon. Who do you think will join him […]?

Europe

The broadcast begins tomorrow on July 31 at 14:00 CEST (05:00 PDT, 08:00 EST, 21:00 KST).

Big shoutout to who are going to the Three-Headed Dragon Challenge finals for EUROPE.Dragon

Now that's a fairly stacked field, with two EU Grandmasters in Jarla and Leta, and a couple of notable names such as Meati or wiRer.
Update: In the final battle of wiRer vs Hypnos, only one could have emerged victorious as Ysera's champion:

What a run! Clapping hands sign Congratulations to wiRer as he wins the Three-Headed Dragon Challenge Europe and is Ysera's Champion! DragonParty popper

Americas

The broadcast is scheduled for August 1 at 09:00 PDT (12:00 EST, 18:00 CEST, 01:00 KST).

We have one freshly minted Grandmaster with DimitriKazov, and a consistent ladder climber such as pocket_train

What's on the Line

We are looking at:

  • $10,000 prize pool per tournament:
    • 1st place: $2,500 USD
    • 2nd place: $1,500 USD
    • 3-4th place: $1,000 USD
    • 5-8th place: $500 USD
    • 9-16th place: $250 USD
  • plus an invite to the upcoming Masters Tour Silvermoon for each winner (or the next person in line if they are already qualified).

As a reminder, the format is Best of 5 Standard Last Hero Standing with a Ban. This will be the last time we witness Forged in the Barrens meta in any major fashion.

Plus there is also that fancy title of a Dragon Champion to be earned; winning a stacked DreamHack competition has always been a point of pride for competitive Hearthstone players.

Do you plan to tune in and cheer on any of the competing players? Any region in particular that stands out to you?
