Blizzard has confirmed on Twitter this afternoon that we'll be seeing a Battlegrounds rating reset next week. According to their post, Bob is bringing in something special for the next season of Battlegrounds which, if you've seen our previous article, means we are certainly getting information about the big tribes update to the mode.
No other information was present with the tweet but we sure are excited to hear about the announcements next week on August 31. Stay tuned for all of our coverage surrounding the latest Battlegrounds, and Mercenaries, update. For those not in the know, the major overhaul of Battlegrounds is focusing on minion tribes. Blizzard previously showcased two new Pirate cards when they first announced the update.
Two new Pirate cards coming that showcase synergies.
So, are you even more pumped now that we know the Battlegrounds overhaul hits next week?
Quote From @PlayHearthstone Last call, Battlegrounds players! Battlegrounds ratings will be reset early next week when Bob brings something special for next season.
What Happens During a Battlegrounds Rating Reset?
Here is what you need to keep in mind for the upcoming reset:
- All players will have their rating set to 0.
- You can't lose rating below 2000 - protections are in place!
- There are ranked floors starting at 2000 rating and going up to 6000 rating.
- The floors are every 500 rating and won't let you fall below that floor once reached.
- These floors help with your climb.
- Your internal rating, MMR, will not be reset so you will still fight opponents at the same level as the previous season.

Does that mean we're gonna learn about the details of the overhaul when it happens? I was hoping to see it a little while before it released
Am I the only one who thinks that BG rating model is far more worse then constructed leagues model? I got 8k this season and I don't know how good I am (not that I do care much, just interested), the only thing I know that pro-players got 13k+. In constructed I'm 8k too and I know that this is pretty good.
As interested as I am in this promised overhaul, I have to say I'm just a slight bit worried. I'm confident they'll be able to deliver on the core fantasy of the individual tribes. They've actually been nailing that pretty well since the introduction of Pirates. What they've not been nailing is the pace of the game. With every patch the game has been getting faster and faster as underperforming tribes and heroes have been brought up in power. Aside from the whole Elemental fiasco, there has never really been an overall tuning-down of the tribes. When Pirates were introduced, damage spiked to absurd levels. It was one of the most miserable patches in the game mode's history (at least until Djinni happened). When you look at Pirates now, they're an absolutely godawful tribe and yet they've only been buffed. It's just that everything introduced after them was even stronger. I doubt this overhaul will have an opposite effect to every other major introduction before it. The game is gonna get faster yet again, and half the lobby will be dead on turn 8 now instead of 10.
+100
These "designers" have no clue how not to design powercreep in this game... (not only BGs)...
I'm excited that this number that means nothing to me will continue to mean nothing!
I can't say I played lots Battlegrounds in the last months (loving constructed since most of the stuff I didn't like rotated in March, and Duels has become my favorite mode), but I am happy to see a major overhaul.
Will definitely be there when the new toys will be released!
