As promised earlier by the devs on Twitter, Diablo, the Lord of Terror Battlegrounds will be leaving in tomorrow's patch (making quite many streamers happy) but there's more! Scabbs Cutterbutter will become the latest Mercenary-turned-into-Battlegrounds-hero as he'll attempt to fill the shoes left behind by Diablo, and we'll also get a completely new type of cosmetics, Battlegrounds Boards!
You can find all details in the quote below.

DIABLO IS DEFEATED
You all took on the raid boss and survived! The special Diablo event is now over and Bob’s fine tavern is still standing—and preparing for the next round of new combatants. Diablo has been removed from the Battlegrounds Hero Pool.
NEW HERO
Scabbs Cutterbutter
- I Spy [Costs 2]
- Discover a plain copy of a minion from your next opponent's warband.
Players with Battlegrounds Perks will have early access to Scabbs Cutterbutter before the Hero is formally released on December 14.
BATTLEGROUNDS BOARDS
Bob’s got something new to show you. Introducing Battlegrounds Boards, an all-new cosmetic option for Hearthstone Battlegrounds! Battlegrounds Boards are special boards that you can bring to the combat phase of your Battlegrounds bouts. These boards sport new visuals for you to see and show off to your opponents. Because Battlegrounds Boards are shared with you and your opponent, you may not see your Board every round.
Bob’s first board is the Arena of Champions, a celebration of Bob’s favorite customer: you! Give your warbands the royal reception they deserve, with suits of armor and flourishes of purple and gold. Get yours in the shop as soon as the patch goes live!
For gameplay purposes, the bottom right portion of all Battleground Boards are simplified when playing on mobile.
Comments
I think it could be way more interesting if boards were "divided" into two halves, so it would show both yours and your opponent's skins (on their respective halves) on every fight, instead of having it show a full board of one or the other.
@Nova, they already do this in Legends of Runeterra. (each players half of the board shows their own cosmetics) and I agree with Suchti, it's really disjointed and looks....wack.
I'd rather it just be a coinflip who's board "is the board" for that battle then have every person's half a board showing.
It would be weird if one person's board is blackrock mountain and the other half is murlocs on a beach, would it not?
I'm honestly not a fan of this. I personally find coherent boards much more appealing, even if I don't see it all the time. Plus: This way I can (sometimes) enjoy the full board without owning it.
Agreed. They even have the board almost perfectly mirrored lol.
My guess is this will eventually be a feature, they just need to build the tech for it.
Nothing for constructed? That's disappointing.
We're getting a 135 card expansion in a week :P
There's no reason to do any balance changes when you have no idea what the expansion will end up doing for the meta. Problems now might not be as problematic in a couple of weeks.
