With Microsoft's recent play to acquire Activision Blizzard for $69 Billion, Ben Brode has convinced the Hearthstone team to provide one final act of kindness to the community before their inevitable takeover. Datamined internally as "Ben's Kindness", this one-time quest will appear when you login to Hearthstone and reward your account with 1 Gold.
Ben Brode hasn't been with Blizzard for many years at this point, working on his company Second Dinner which has a Marvel game in the works, so it's quite fascinating to see the pull he still has with Hearthstone's team members that haven't left to join his video game company. Regardless of the intentions, this is quite generous though with there being plenty to do in Hearthstone with 1 Gold. Here are just a few things you can do with this act of kindness:
- Pool your Gold together with 99 other friends and buy a card pack.
- Convert your 1 Gold into 1 Arcane Dust.
- Sob in the corner of the Dragonblight game board with the broken pillar.
"I choose you to get 1 Gold!"
Datamining suggests that this quest is permanently active, which means that even newer players will get to see the kindness of Mr. Brode. Thanks, Ben, for this infuriatingly simple act of mental torture.
This article was created because Ben wanted to actually do this. Happy April Fools Day =)
Quote From Ben Brode The one thing I regret from my time on Hearthstone was not executing my April’s Fools Day joke of giving everyone 1 Gold for free.

If I make 100 Battle.net accounts, I can buy one pack! Let's go!
For a moment my dislike of odd numbers kicked in. Then I laughed as best as I could like Ben.
You got me, ha!
I was steeling myself to read all the complaints about having an odd-numbered gold total.
Spared!
Since when do you guys have early acces to the patchnotes?
If only removing the Priest class from HS wasn't an April Fools joke...
...sigh
Though in this case they clearly datamined it
They are often given early to pro players... and then there are "leaks"...
ok
I mean Ben Brode did once say that he wanted to do something like this as April's Fools... so not original enough
Long story short - I would be very happy about it if that were true.
So the story... At the beginning of my Hearthstone journey, I played one run in arena and received a gold award (a two-digit number with the number 5 at the end). I didn't like it very much and I had to play arena again and again until I received an award with the number 5 at the end. Now I have made this mistake again and I have 45 gold. I'm in limbo. I don't want to play arena/duel and I don't want to have 45 gold left in my account.
P.S. What is the easiest way to get 5 or 55 gold?
Imagine if they did this without telling anyone and then took the 1 gold away the next time you logged on. The carnage on Reddit...
You f0015, it's that O'Neil's girl who knows Rafaello, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo and even Masta Splinta, yu know?!??
First, I thought WTF really? No way! Shortly after, I realized today's date ^_^
EDIT: And just now, I noticed the spoiler and tag as well, well played Fluxflashor!!
Also, it never occurred to me before that Ben Brode and I actually share a very similar laugh or better put 'loud barrage of laughter' 🤣
Some would call Ben's laugh, 'maniacal'.
I find it makes want to guffaw ...
Yup, this is exactly how much free stuff we got back then.
I play HS since the open beta and the game improved a lot when it comes to free stuff.
Now I have to think a bit what I will buy from Bens gift...
No we definitely have less free stuff now. Very beginning? Sure. 3 years ago? No. Back about 3 years ago we were getting like 10 or more free packs for new expansions on top of a legendary. While the rewards track might be more than normal gameplay, once you account for actual freebies we got it’s less today. I
Were you opening packs when you could open a legendary card you already owned?
400 dust!!
when i started i had to w8 months for a competitive deck xD
god that laugh...
