If you've been looking over your shoulder and hoping not to queue into any non-Murloc Shamans on the Ranked ladder, fear no more! It took a little over a day, but the crucial server-side hotfix is on the way to offer salvation. Once it's fully deployed across all regions, Snapdragon should no longer be able to add permanent +1/+1 stats to Battlecry Heroes or weapons, and Bioluminescence will stop providing 1 extra Spell Damage.
A server-side hotfix means no additional downloads are necessary, you should be able to see the results as soon as they are in effect.
The two bugged cards in question have definitely taken over Hearthstone social media ever since the Mini-Set's launch, causing a lot of problems and arguments. It will be good to see things slowly returning back to normal. The developer team has also managed to deal with a few other issues while at it:
Hearthstone Hotfix Patch 23.4.1
Quote From Blizzard 6/2 Update:
We are currently in the process of deploying hotfix patch 23.4.1, a server-side hotfix, that will include the following updates:
- Fixes bugs with Bioluminescence and Snapdragon not working as written.
- Adds Colossal minions into the random pool for certain cards that generated options from a random pool, such as Elise Starseeker’s Golden Monkey.
- Fixes the bug where the Mercenaries story task, “Whispers of the Old Gods: Task 4” had completion criteria that didn’t match its text.
- Fixes a bug causing favorite card back selections to not display.
Associate Game Designer Gallon had a little more insight to offer about this one particular 'Colossal' entry:
Quote From Gallon It was an update to one of our tools we use across a decently large set of cards, so some cards were updated with this fix even if they don’t generate them. Should have no impact in how the affected cards play, except for the ones that could generate colossals like the monkey.
Patch 23.4 Known Issues Update
The official forum thread has also seen a couple more additions to its expanding list. We've been keeping our main post about these issues up to date, if you ever need to look up where things stand at any given time:
Quote From Blizzard
- [Added 6/2]: The team is aware that Shattershambler is not working as intended. It will be fixed in an upcoming update.
- [Added 6/2]: The team is aware of a small number of accounts seeing “Playful Sprites” error messages when trying to login. This will be fixed in the next available update.
Unfortunately, not everyone is currently able to enter the tavern and explore Throne of the Tides. We haven't heard of any immediate workarounds.
And the issue with Shattershambler? Apparently it cannot quite tell a minion from a weapon, which can get awkward at times.
Have you been staying away from the Ranked ladder while waiting for the fixes? If not, how many Shaman players happened to play these broken cards in your games?
Comments
ok but when they'll fix the animation bug caused by the miniset patch? everything goes slow and one by one...
Those were probably the first iterations of the cards and someone forgot to merge the proper branch.
With these issues happening every time something new is released, it's clear to me that:
1. Even if they do test stuff, someone is forcing them to push out the content with bugs. Even critical ones.
2. Their code management is god awful. I wouldn't like to work there and have to bang my head against all kinds of stuff that shouldn't be happening in a properly organised team.
They seem unable to fix these things and I really wonder why...
Hope Team 5 do a retrospective or lessons learnt on why these cards were broken. Especially Snapdragon which is part of the new content. These bugs are becoming a joke now...
