The patch notes are out, lighting bloom is dead
Let's nerf quest warrior once more. It still kills people out of nowhere with Grom's weapon and Mr. Smite combo's :)
You'll get crushed outside of gold with that deck.
Maybe they are aiming something in warrior like From the Depths
I personally don't feel any class needing a balance patch besides warrior in standard (and Cariel hero card, I hate Cariel).
I know it's a bit cliché to complain about overly aggressive decks.... but personally I think Demon Hunter (with a class winrate of almost 55%) can dish out too much damage, too fast, while also drawing cards. Thanks to Fossil Fanatic that is, combined with Multi-Strike. Maybe a nerf to the former would be appropriate. Make it a 3-mana 2/3 or something.
And then if they draw Jace Darkweaver, which they always seem to do, it's game over.
Personally I think that cards like Jace or Shudderrwock are toxic and bad for the game. They tend to push forward archetypes of "just play a bunch of stuff and drop the big boy".
Generally you are right, but occasionally those effects work well, notably Lynessa Sunsorrow because it's still limited to creating 1 big minion and Tess Greymane because her effect is entirely improvised and different every game. I guess the big difference between these two and the rest is that playing them usually gives the opponent an opportunity to respond (Tess usually only 'guarantees' wins when she is multiplied like crazy).
Yes, those are balanced as you said. With Lynessa you're only one removal of losing the game. And although Tess can be bonkers sometimes, since it's purely RNG, it can suck consistently also lol.
Shudderwock and Zuljin are toxic IMO, because most of the time you throw them, most of the times you win. But at least they have some limitations, since you can't use targetable effects, otherwise they'll mess your pool, so at least it has a deck restriction which in some scenarios can be big. Jace is stupid, it's a perfect card. Good stats for what it does, insane effect, no deck restriction. Jace is even more broken than the other 2. DH already has lots of cards that go only to the enemy. Making it so that Predation or any other targetable spell will go face or clear some minions is stupid...
I'm not too troubled by either of those, frankly. Control Warrior is good but there are decks that wallop it, and we want it to be pretty good to keep Curse Warlock in check. Cariel doesn't need adjustment because there's a neutral counterplay card with Tradable that's universally available. I think Standard is in a good place overall, actually.
Yep, but what else does Paladin do? It has an extreme wanky tactic with buffing Smite and OTK.
Maybe they touch Cariel next expansion? (Removing attack or actually give durability, or a Rework for damage absortion).
This is exactly the problem of this meta, if you draw the good cards you win, rogue with peasants on one and gnoll, mage with syren, paladin with cariel and so on in other classes.
Am I reading too much into this or are they teasing the midsummer fire festival?
Time is about right for fire festival
I'm certain we're going to see midsummer stuff with the patch because of this. It could be them just being "fun" though too.
I think the weapon of Cariel and assuming something about the armor gain of warrior.
If it’s Standard, I have no clue.
If it’s Wild, something to do with Shaman. Either a hit to Ancestor’s Call, or maybe a change to Lightning Bloom. Big Shaman playing Bloom into Call on turn 2 (or turn 1 with Coin) is a little too crazy with things like Colossal minions in the game.
Are there things that beat Big Shaman? Sure. But the Wild meta seems like it is being shaped around this one deck right now. Either play it or play a hard counter to it.
Lightning Bloom really needs a hit and fast. Like seriously, Ive seen asking for this since scholomance turned out, because all it does is create non-games.
As the power level in hearthstone increases year by year, flexible mana cheats like this one deserves a nuke, nothing less.
I am not religious, but lord, am I praying for a hit to Big Shaman. Nothing is more demoralizing than the T1 Ancestral Call into Neptuluon...
