Box of RNG yay...
When I loaded up the main page with the thumbnail I thought I'd somehow hit a spoof site for a second because that image contains a very suggestive head.
The irony of this is that druid spells aren't especially good at removing things so half the time it'll either be ramp or board development, and the other half it would be gaining armor and drawing cards.
In other words, this card is just useless unless you're facing burn, or youre particularly ahead. But since druid tends to play shit like these much earlier than most classes can respond, you cant rightfully write it off even if its inconsistent with its impact.
The real problem here is why even bother doing it? Because if you could play a 10 mana cost card, you're better off just playing the slew of stupid shit from druid that would actually win you the game, instead of a card like this. Mage played puzzlebox because that's a win con; this on the other hand is not.
The pool of Druid spells is pretty narrow, so you can be fairly sure Convoke the Spirits will summon a bunch of minions, buff them, and draw a bunch of cards... and reasonably often cast Celestial Alignment and piss off the control/combo opponents who weren't too worried about the sudden massive board.
It probably won't clear the opponent's board, though it might summon a bunch of rush minions to do that job. So compared to Puzzle Box, at least its somewhat predictable and won't feel quite so un-earned when it wins games, but thanks to Celestial Alignment it will still cause as much anger I expect.
Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron for druid, now thats a 5/5 star card right there! Cant wait to Solar Eclipse it in wild into (several) Astral Communion(s) and Ultimate Infestation(s).
Considering there already is a yogg druid deck in wild, maybe it includes this for maximum memes, but it might not because that deck prefers casting small spells into one big yogg.
Either way, i'm including this in most of my druid lists, even if it lowers winrate.
But there were two cards
I dont get why they push like 3 different architypes for druid in one set, first you think they are pushing deathrattle druid but then the location gets followed by one deathrattle card, after that you think they push treant druid, but its just 2 without payoff, then you think maybe the second legendary will support one of the two, no, just a random (but good) nature spell support card. And when you think thats it they print 2 big spells for big spell druid??? (there was a leaked 8 mana spell in the rarran review). Im just confused
I don't know much about the current state of Druid in standard.
But in wild/unranked, played Druid decklist are 90% cancerous combo, and 9% ultra aggro smorc.
So, my guess is that this expansion is the result of dev struggling to push new and saner archetype; without giving the current cancerous ones more ammunition.
