Hearthstone's newest patch is arriving tomorrow and with it Battlegrounds will get some updates as well, as usual.
- Basic emotes will be free for everyone. Special emotes can be acquired to replace those emotes.
- First set of special emotes will be Mystery Mayhem - a Castle Nathria-themed set.
- New Hero: Heistbaron Togwaggle (formally released on August 9).
- Hero Power [9 Gold] Steal all minions in Bob’s Tavern. Each turn, your next Hero Power costs (1) less (works like upgrading your Tavern Tier; once used, it will return to 9 Gold and restart the cycle).
- Two Dragon updates - Red Whelp and Evolving Chromawing.
- Red Whelp is now a 2/2 instead of 1/2.
- Evolving Chromawing is now a 1/1 and reads "After you Upgrade your Tavern Tier, gain +1/+1 for each friendly Dragon."
- The Lich King, Sneed, and Edwin VanCleef can now all target minions in Bob’s Tavern.

New Emotes!
Starting with Patch 24.0, all players will have access to the base Battlegrounds Emotes. Players will also be able to obtain special Emotes that they can equip over the base emotes in their Battlegrounds Collection. The first set of Battlegrounds Emotes – Mystery Mayhem, will be a collection of Nathria and murder-mystery themed emotes that will be available one week after the expansion goes live! Whether you’re sweating like a suspect or casually sipping on some tea, it’s got just the emote for you.
New Hero
Heistbaron Togwaggle
- The Perfect Crime
- [9 Gold] Steal all minions in Bob’s Tavern. Each turn, your next Hero Power costs (1) less.
- Dev Comment: At the end of each Recruit phase, the cost of your next Hero Power will reduce by 1 automatically. Each time you use Togwaggle’s Hero Power, its cost resets to the original 9 Gold cost and starts the cycle over again.
Players with Battlegrounds Perks will have early access to Heistbaron Togwaggle ahead of his formal release on August 9.
Hero Updates
- The Lich King, Sneed, and Edwin VanCleef can now all target minions in Bob’s Tavern as well as friendly minions. (Effects that are not “for one turn” effects will carry over to the next Recruit phase if you Freeze that minion in the Tavern).
Minion Updates
- Red Whelp
- Old: 1 Attack, 2 Health → New: 2 Attack, 2 Health
- Evolving Chromawing has been reworked and returned to the minion pool.
- Evolving Chromawing [Tavern Tier 1, Dragon]
- 1 Attack, 1 Health. After you Upgrade your Tavern Tier, gain +1/+1 for each friendly Dragon.

Looking forward to finally using emotes!
They change Trigore's wording but not actually nerf the fucker, is the Merc team subsisting on a strict diet of glue and toothpaste?
They did "nerf" him with the bug fix. Though I thought it would be common knowledge by now that the devs never nerf Mercenaries because of the modes focus on pve.
And it's still the dumbest decision they've made and it will continue to keep Mercs irrelevant and unprofitable.
PvP is the entire endgame. there is nothing else and yet it so unbelievably screwed up that you can play only a fraction of the available mercs. Play. Not suceed with. Just play. You can't even get a single kill with a non-meta party most of the times before you get completely outscaled. It doesn't even matter how much they buff other mercs for PvE, that mode has 0 replayability unless you just really enjoy pressing the same buttons over and over again.
You wouldn't even need to to crazy nerfs to fix PvP, just some numbers here and there and all of a sudden it's gonna be way more diverse while PvE remains virtually unchanged because it's all about treasures anyways....but no, gotta stay on the sinking ship while refusing to plug any holes because they're just part of the experience I guess
