Another Legendary Quest chain has been activated within the Hearthstone client around the same time as the two new bundles appeared in the shop. We actually knew something of the kind was coming, we just didn't know exactly when. All that we had to go on before was a single line from the 24.2 patch notes:
Quote From Blizzard Celebrate Season 2 with a chain of three Legendary Quests that award new Battlegrounds cosmetics.
The special Quest chain allows us the more or less usual duration of 2 weeks to get things done. Since it's cosmetics only, the rewards may not hold as much value unless you actually play Battlegrounds every now and then, and actually pay attention to such visual appeal. If you couldn't care less, nothing is stopping you from downright ignoring or even deleting (the ominous X mark) it all from your log.
Two Emotes and One Hero Skin
It's a fairly modest celebration of the newest Battlegrounds season following the notable revamp, and it could prove to be either a very quick or a very painful experience - depending on your internal MMR and overall ability within the game mode. The initial step is just the regular 'participation trophy', while the second stage requires finishing in Top 4 (which generally counts as "winning" for Battlegrounds rating purposes); and then finally we get to the third objective of defeating the entire lobby and coming up 1st.
That final requirement could prove tricky for some players, as you can't skip any steps or complete the quest chain all in one fell swoop - meaning that earning the 1st place in your very first game will only mark the initial part as done, and you will eventually have to repeat this feat once more later on.
Besides the two fancy emotes which may or may not suit your tastes, the ultimate reward brings us a special Battlegrounds skin for Jandice Barov, which answers the question we previously had about the whereabouts of Little Witch Jandice.
Battlegrounds Weekly Quests & Missions
Remember that it's no longer possible to roll into any of the Battlegrounds-specific Weekly Quests for the regular Rewards Track XP, but a number of other objectives (such as 'Win 5 games of X game mode' or 'Play 50 Battlecry cards') will still count progress just fine - so you might be able to kill two birds with one stone.
Quote From Blizzard Battlegrounds-exclusive Weekly Quests (like “Finish Top 4 in Battlegrounds”) have been removed from the general Weekly Quests rotation and converted into Battlegrounds Missions. Other Daily and Weekly Quests that can be completed across Modes can still be completed in Battlegrounds or other Modes.
When it comes to Battlegrounds Missions providing XP for that game mode's special separate Track (it's all getting a little more complex and confusing now, isn't it), there is no real fear of missing out or having to rush anything due to the very handy Banked Missions system.
Are you glad to see more free Battlegrounds Cosmetics, or is it simply just not for you? What are your feelings on this particular Legendary Quest chain, is there enough appeal to be worth going through the motions even if you don't consider yourself much of a Battlegrounds player?
Comments
I haven't played BG since the last legendary quest asked us to play BG, so my MMR reflected that.
Picked Faelin and elementals, and landed in 1st place. Of course, that only counted as the Play a Game quest. 🤦🏽♀️
Totally useless for me. Hate BGs... But that's fine, no big deal
Bold move for Blizzard to move to a "pay for a slight advantage" model with the perks then to immediately offer a quest reward that requires you to place 1st. I win the odd one (39 times in the hundreds of games I've played) but I feel like it's been tougher lately as the quests create even more high roll games where some guy just gets the nuts and hits me for 20 on turn 7-8.
First impression was, "Wow, another Quest chain!". Until I realized it was nothing but BG. Deleted and moved on to Ranked Standard.
That last quest will probably be the first one that will be too hard for me to do. I'm trash at that mode and very rarely come in first. It could take me 30 games before I get first, and I'm not willing to spend that much time at this within two weeks.
I might be trash at Hearthstone as a whole, but that's besides the point.
I did the first one, expecting it was only 1 quest grrr, i didn't read this news because I never play BG unless I have to.
After the first one i went back here to see what this is all about......exactly nothing.......deleted the follow up. and done.
just small fyi, you can actually click on the quest in-game and it will show you all the stages with requirements and rewards for the legendary quests like these
no need to check what the other stages are on the internet :)
I'm just frustrated that I lost a weekly BG focused quest when the patch went out. I still haven't seen if there are plans to address that for players who lost out on that chunk of XP.
They do, at least this is what they communicated.

I'll attempt the questline, not because of the rewards, coz cosmetics mean nothing to me anymore in HS due to the overload there is now. There's always some weekly quests that are incredibly easy to complete in BG (I've got the "Deal 200 damage to enemy heroes." quest atm)
And it's always cool to dabble with the new updates, finding the quests must more fun compared to the buddies
Lol, I dont play BG these days but I really feel the grind with that final quest. Getting 1st place is fairly daunting, even back then when I played it casually. Lord knows what the average number of games it'll take to actually get it.
Deleted the quest soon as I saw it. Probably made for exclusive BG players, I'd imagine. Just separate the damn game, blizz, they cant even use the gold gained in BG itself now.
If your MMR is dumpstered in BG, half of the players will be afk from jump in a given game. The only reason nearly all of the players aren't afk is because Blizzard made an undocumented stealth change (that didn't see any discussion in social media) after the very first major overhaul of Battlegrounds where the MMR was reset that forced the track-pushers into games with anyone with a wide range of low MMR. This turboscrews the low MMR players trying to rank up, but Blizz is fine with that because what they don't want are the track-pushers to get infinite passive games in a row.
What this means is that at the very lowest ranks, your lobby will be garbage and getting first place just requires you to get an early build online fast and you'll almost never be punished by another early build because half your opponents will be ghosts. It can still be frustrating and take time, but if you were going to run a BG game or two anyway, the 1st place win is inevitable.
