New TITANS Cards Revealed - July 14
Here are all the new cards revealed today. Please be patient as we wait for reveals to finish before we can place cards here.
Comments
Is it just me, or does Absorbent Parasite look similar Marvel's symbiote?
Looking at the actual cards rather than just debating their syntax:
-Starstrung Bow is a lot of reach, a good payoff for a secret-heavy deck to take as its finisher. Probably won't be discounted all the way down, but getting it for even three or four-- in such a way that you can weave another secret or even a hero power into it-- seems potent. I believe the rule is "never underestimate a card you can play for free"-- I won't.
-Speaking of, Bait and Switch is a new secret to add to the pile, but I'm not sure about it. There are whole archetypes, or even classes, that don't really remove minions by trading into them-- Spooky Mage, Big Warlock, any Priest deck-- and it's a big whiff against them. Could be murder in Arena.
-Titanforged Traps I like more. Secret Plan saw a lot of play, and this card skips a step and saves a mana compared to that, and *with* a later-game upgrade option. Sounds good.
Trampling Rhino is back !
What's the deal with wording changing from "Add __ to your hand" to "Get __"? I understand it's more concise, but seems like a weird decision to change established wording after 9 years.
I am more buffled by "They cost (1)" part. Usually when they use "It costs ..." it is about cost modification (see Ancient Mysteries, Prismatic Elemental). It makes it look like normally these Worms cost something else, but now you can play them for (1).
Previously they didn't specify the cost of generated cards (Acornbearer, Astalor Bloodsworn)
That's what I said on the Discord haha. And it's not like the card was wanting for text space.
I think it is certainly for text space, I mean;
For this example, When you use "Add" you need to say "Add 3 1/4 worms to your hand." but when you use "get" it would be "Get 3 1/4 worms" only.
it saves you from "to your hand" part.
it is same for "give" too. It saves more space. "Give your opponent x" vs "Add x to your opponent's hand."
Maybe this card doesn't want text space but they might be doing that for consistency after all past inconsistent stuff and it looks cooler with 2 lines for this card. if it would be add - to your hand, it would be 3 lines.
2 effects - 2 lines, better for eyes, good decision in my opinion.
Lets compare Awakening Tremors with Schooling. At first glance, Awakening Tremors explains what minion you get better than Schooling but also remember that Piranha Swarmer is a collectable card unlike the token worms you get from Awakening Tremors. Also thinking of it now, the Schooling text is very inconsistent coz it doesn't actually say Piranha Swarmers like Piranha Poacher does.
The "Add to your hand" phrasing might have changed for Localization reasons but ofc Team 5 would have to confirm.
it won't be necessary if you use get for Schooling because of how long Piranha Swarmer is. It will 2 lines anyways. I can't see any inconsistency between Piranha Poacher and Schooling. one adds 3 cards so the word is plural and the other adds single card so it is singular. I don't think you can evaluate it as an inconsistency.
I think so. If they decided to change the style, I need to admit that get suits better and saves space.
We just had kologarn taking up the text spaces of the entire card, so no this is not a decision made to save on text space.
I think its just one of those brainfart moments from team5 where they forget about precedent. I mean, it doesn't really take much space or comprehension to write out "Add three 4/1 worms to your hand". I doubt the game will start crashing because of it.
Well, it is not about your brainfart theory obviously. What I was speaking about was the attractiveness of the style, the charm. This is why there is an education for marketing etc.
People looks first, then buys so you want your product looks good. Actually, this whole reveal season is here for same reason.
Like I said above, 2 lines - 2 effects. Simple and looks better. Also they use "get" for other cards in Titans iirc.
I can't really "get" why you said "I doubt the game will start crashing because of it" tho and also probably not any other company can find consumers like Blizzard's who always whines about almost anything but can't stop playing/consuming their product. A weird kind of obsession.
How one can actually believe a company makes that kind of mistake with one of those brainfart moments is another topic all along.
Ah and for Kologarn, you can't use "get" there because it works like Sap or Entomb for hand. I am not really sure the text is the end product, it was translated from some asian language i guess but seems ok for me, if you use a wording like "Rush. Whenever this attacks a minion, get it. Deathrattle: Give it back to your opponent" it would be total mess and wouldn't explain what the card actually does, how it goes to your hand and if it is returned to battlefield or opponent's hand. So, That's completely ok.
But yeah, you are the greatest mind around that can only decide if it is a decision made to save on text space or a brainfart moment of Blizzard. So yeah, next time, shine bright on Team 5 and teach them how things must done.
But you'll find yourself commenting under what they were decided to create which noone actually cares your opinions on them and will find yourself enjoying those brainfart people actually made for you to play.
Enjoy the game created by a team which you 7/24 expostulate about.
I dont know what got under your skin, but your rant is exquisite. Usually I'll read through comments like these, turn my other cheek and walk off, but what the hell, since you clearly care enough about my initial, very simplistic, comment to write so much, here's my rebuttal.
This is what I was commenting on in my earlier post. Hence, my reference to kologarn, a card of which the description took the entire card. You thought it was for text space and I wrote "We just had kologarn taking up the text spaces of the entire card, so no this is not a decision made to save on text space." This is not even an attack at the kologarn's description, only a reference, because we were talking about card description space. So dont get upset, Im not attacking this card's design, description or any of the above.
My usage of the word 'brainfart', a word of which for some reason you are getting angry about, is because descriptions like these does indeed have an impact on the game. Something team5 should be very well aware of, but seem not be be with this one card.
Try searching in hearthstone for "Add" and you'll see all the cards that puts something into your hand. Try searching "hand" you'll also find cards that put something into your hand. Now, if team5 were to break this precedent, the card Awakening Tremors will not be found if you search for the two words I state above.
These descriptions should ideally be consistent, so its easier to find cards. If team5 were to garble out whatever they like for "attractiveness" as you call it, then the search function might as well not exist. This is my beef with team5's decision to use the word 'Get' for a card effect that's already established previously. The library is getting bigger and bigger with each expansion, so let's not pretend that this is a small issue.
And lastly;
I'd just like you to know that its entirely morally consistent, and no skin off my nose, to criticize blizzard for their inadequacies while still consuming their products. Ultimately, we'd criticize because we care enough for the game. If the game meant nothing to me, then I'd just smirk and walk off. But I like their games, so when they're doing stuff I dont like then I'd criticize them for it. Its not an either/or situation.
And just for your own intellectual curiosity: "I doubt the game will start crashing because of it" . That's hyperbole. I thought it was exaggerated enough to be obvious, but just in case it wasn't.
Whining and criticizing are two different things and i felt whining in your comment instead of a critique.
It doesn't feel honest criticize when you see someone whines about a game 7/24 for years and keep playing and leaves whiney comments in a fan website of that game. I just can't bare people like this and can't stop myself to reply them in a bitter tongue. I don't usually write nowadays like before but I am following this site almost everyday. I was seeing your comments under almost any HS related article and most of time it feels like you were just ranting about it instead of criticizing.
I might be wrong of course. I maybe confusing you with someone else because of your nickname or profile picture. Even it may be that it was you and i am still wrong about you because of prejudices I have about you for your post comments.
What I wrote above was not just a comment about this comment of yours. It was a pile which is gathered in time because it bothers me a lot when someone whines about a game 7/24 and keeps commenting on forums and keeps playing, they just should stop playing and ranting. That's simple.
Sorry If i am mistaken. you can consider that as my prejudices that i have gathered from your post comments on other articles but this is how i feel about your comments if it was you.
Well, i can understand a hyperbole from miles away but i just can't get it why it is used there and the reasoning. It just seems silly there.
Don't let yourself be triggered, Almaniarra. That guy is shitposting under every card. Take nothing he writes seriously.
