Spoiler alert! Which villains appear in the film? Do we get to see any other "unexpected" actors? And what can we expect in the afterwords?
It has been called the winter's, if not the year's most anticipated premiere. "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is the third film about Peter Parker's adventures in the Marvel universe, and it's no secret that it invites characters from previous Spider-Man franchises.
But what villains do we really get to see? And is the persistent rumor that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are participating true?
Now "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has finally hit Swedish cinemas, the very first audience screenings have now been completed, so the following are no longer secrets. But we still want to ask you who dared to look in here - let others discover the surprises for themselves. Do not spread spoilers to people who have not asked for it!
And read on at your own risk.
Spoiler alert from now on ...
1. Which villains do we get to see "Spider-Man: No Way Home"?
Trailers have already revealed this: a bunch of malicious types from previous "Spider-Man" movies make their way through Multiverse and into "our" Peter Parker world.
In total, there are five villains: Dr. Octopus, Green Goblin, Electro, Lizard and Sandman. The biggest roles are Alfred Molina (from "Spider-Man 2", 2004), Willem Dafoe ("Spider-Man", 2002) and Jamie Foxx ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2", 2014). Sandman and Lizard are mostly computer animated, but actors Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans also get their fifteen seconds of fame.
2. Are Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in "Spider-Man: No Way Home"?
This may be Marvel Studios and Hollywood's worst kept secret for a long time. Rumors of a meeting between three generations of spiders - Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland - have been circulating for a long time and have really increased the fans' pep. But did they really get it?
Now that the film is out, we know the answer: YES!
Both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire show up to help Tom Holland fight a bunch of known villains. The trio's joint scenes are some of the film's most beautiful highlights and got the audience at the premiere screening I attended cheering and laughing on several occasions. It's extra nice if you grew up with old "Spider-Man" movies and remember some of the dramatic moments that are referred to in "No Way Home".
3. Does "Spider-Man: No Way Home" have a bonus scene?
No big surprise here, right? Marvel's movies have made it a must to stay seated throughout the subtitles, so as not to miss any extra fun bonus scenes.
In "Spider-Man: No Way Home", there are two things worth waiting for. In the middle of the subtitles comes a fun little scene (a kind of payoff at an event in "Venom: Let There Be Carnage"). And at the very end, the fans are offered something really cool, which we do not want to reveal here. So hang out in the movie theater!
