How to pilot this deck
This deck runs similarly to other Quest decks but I feel it's more tightened up around the core of the deck which is Rush and Weapons help control the board and Charge to help finish.
Here are some considerations that make this different from other similar decks:
- Some lists include taunts. I feel that is a defensive approach. For this deck, "the best defense is a good offense". This is why there are no taunts other than Zilliax. He is here because he is a rush card that helps clear and also magnetizes with Clockwork Goblin.
- Livewire Lance > Woodcutter's Axe because you can always attack with the lance and get value. With the axe, the value is with the deathrattle but you don't always have a Rush to play so it feels bad to use it without getting value. When the axe hits though, it's good. Two lackeys potentially give better value than a +2/+1 buff though.
- Armored Goon is threatening even without text. The armor gain is insane with all the attacking you will do though.
- Blastmaster Boom draws out board clears and lobbed bombs are scary for your opponent.
- Akali, the Rhino is card draw and a buff while also being a medium body....with RUSH. Almost 1/4th the deck is rush so the draw will almost always be there.
- Grommash Hellscream > Leeroy Jenkins. Yea, Hellscream needs an activator essentially being a 2 card combo but vanilla is still 4 vs 6 dmg. The upside is 12 vs 6 which gives you more reach for the finishing move than just a Leeroy.
How to play:
- Zilliax + Clockwork Goblin - this is the only mech combo to make your Zilliax bigger.
- Upgrade! ideally for Livewire Lance or Wrenchcalibur but Sul'thraze hits harder obviously.
- Shuffling bombs is easily another 5+ damage in any match so get them bombs
- Bloodsworn Mercenary works really well on Armored Goon or big rush minion. Try to avoid dropping them down for tempo.
Weaknesses:
- Yes, there is no AOE so decks that go wide are a problem. I've had games where my opponent was scared of my big minions like Armored Goon that they traded (even when they had lethal). This is not a game plan but something to keep in mind in your games.
Suggestions:
- With all the anti spell cards like Counterspell or Pressure Plate, be wary of the Grommash Hellscream + Inner Rage combo. Cruel Taskmaster would help against these mages, hunters, and Thief Rogues but it's too situational IMO vs Inner Rage since the 0 cost is too awesome.
- Inclusion of an AOE spell like Sweeping Strikes (on Zilliax is yummy) or Warpath would be good. What to remove would be more your preference since my preference is the deck you are looking at. =) Cant win them all.
