How To Train Year Dragon Card Design Competition

 "Sidequest: Deal 8 damage to your hero. Reward: Restore 15 Health to your hero." A Warlock sidequest that rewards health, but with a delay and a requirement to hurt yourself.

An explorer for one of the EVIL class. The powerful Battlecry, combined with the survivability stealth gives it, helps to make a solid card.

Shady Explorer is E.V.I.L's answer to the dragon explorers: an underpaid underling in a cheap costume. Almost as effective!

Flavourtext: There is always only one witness for the purple dragon.

The reason for  mana cost is that potion of madness costs (1) mana and gains controll of an enemy minion with 2 or less attack this turn only. Twinspell usually ads +1 mana to the overall mana cost of the spell. Lastly this spell takes controll permamently so I added another +1 mana to the card cost. The art also presents a demon, so lore wise Madam Lazul took controll of it (demons are connected to the dalaran, because of the WoW Legion expansion). Also cabal shadowpriest is a 6 mana 4/5 with this effect, so 4/5 for 4 mana is the body and 2 mana is the controll gaining effect (without Twinspell), so in essence this is another reasoning for this cards mana cost.

Unshakable Roots takes advantage of the unique setting of Galakrond Awakening - Where all keywords and mechanics of the previous Year of the Dragon are all fair game. Twinspell and Reborn come together to create a truly frustrating combination of immovable forestry.

I wanted additional Lackey synergy when I made this and felt it would go well with current tempo classes like Shaman / Rogue / Warrior.

Plague of Undeath can be a powerful removal tool when combined with cards that deal damage to minions: Mortal Coil, Impferno and Despicable Dreadlord, just to name a few. It doesn't work with Wild Pyromancer, though. It also has strong synergy with Deathrattle minions, triggering their effects immediately and resummoning them to trigger these effects again later on. Don't forget to attack with all your minions before using this spell!

Ment to support Quest and Midrange Hunter. Migth lock hard to complete at first glance, but remember that it conts both enemy AND friendly minions, wich means that a well timed [Hearthstone Card (Swarm of Locust) Not Found] or Unleash the Hounds is enough to complete the quest in one shot. 

Ps: Please ignore the fact that the art shows a Hyena being eated instead of the opposite, it stills captures the ideia of the card nicely.

Not much to say, a Rogue Legendary that synergizes with Lackeys akin to Dark Pharaoh Tekahn.

Also, Shivaleera = Shivarra + Valeera. It's Valeera as a shivarra.

Designed as a sidequest to fit with the warlock Galarkond hero power and merge it with lackey synergy. Also fits flavor-wise into the Northrend location.

A redesign of the absolutely AWFUL Dr. Boom's Scheme that is much more playable, and also much more in line with the flavor Dr Boom.

Plans are the same as Schemes, the only difference is that heroes don't go around scheming. Reno is kind of a goof and I love randomness (Yogg be praised) so I just made this thing. Is it broken? Absolutely. Is it fun? Oh yeah it is.

A random spell generator fitting Reno's theme and supporting both Mage quests and one of the sidequests. 

“Utilize” meaning you have to no time attack WHILE YOU COULD'VE. It doesn’t have to be in a row. The flavor is pretty obvious I think: you act all pacific to get public support! 

Priest really got screwed over when it comes to Lackey generation/synergy; a card like this would have helped.

The lunar-white dragons symbolize death and rebirth, making the Reborn mechanic perfect for this Neutral Explorer! 

this is my first time making a custom card and i made this in photoshop in about 5 minutes 

I just wanted to take a diffrent turn on the warlock breath by taking a uniqe spin on the corruption mechanic that the warlock class has

You either get a Chillwind Yeti, or a slightly bigger [Hearthstone Card (Worgen Rager) Not Found], but you get to play it twice. It is decent tempo and value, and it also has great synergy with Zul'jin.

Rumors of a Mummies Alive! remake is bringing everyone out of their tombs in excitement!

A spin on the classic "2 mana deal 3 damage". The restriction to only this turn blocks this from being abused super early and this has synergy with all the Hero Power stufd Mage got lately. 

So the EVIL guys crashed into the Blackrock mountain and we got a really nice Brawl + funny  story, before they reached Uldum. 

I wanted to make a card, that fits the Uldum thematic AND the Blackrock thematic. So when you empty your hand and play this, it gains Reborn. I think this card wouldn‘t be Meta relevant, but I like the concept and flavor of the card. (You get it? It‘s out of lava... it can regenerate itself... :‘-) oof...)

Control Shaman has always been one of my favorite archetypes, and I think this would be a cool way to buff the archetype without committing to the "Freeze Shaman" meme too much.

Reborn

Deathrattle: Add 2 random Lackeys to your hand.

That's a lot of Lackeys.

Target minions deals 1 damage to adjacent minions at the end of the turn.

This card gives the player a choice: make Lackeys with Discover instead supply both players with a random card for the rest of the match. Example: Draconic Lackey now gives a random dragon with no player choice; Ethereal Lackey supplies one random spell, etc.

The player can also opt to make all Lackeys in the match cost 1 mana more, and in theory could make them cost up to 10 mana if this card is repeatedly used.

Reveal your opponent's hand this turn. If you're holding a Dragon, destroy a random card in their hand.

Invoke synergy for every EVIL class. Several classes can have pretty great card draw, so this is a massive threat. But with only 5 health and no immediate effect, it has to be combined with other cards.

I really enjoyed force of nature/savage roar, so I wanted to put charge and make it 5 mana but we all know how that would end.

Battlecry: If your deck has no duplicates, Invoke Galakrond thrice.

It's a payoff for Playing Lackeys in Warrior. I used the 3/2 dragon with rush for a parallel for the Scion of Ruin.

Heal Druid was an archetype during Rise of Shadows. However it is currently not viable. Here is some support for the archetype.

The triple Twispell means you can cast this a total of 4 times like [Hearthstone Card (THE… Candles?) Not Found] from Dalaran Heist.

A mix of Lackey synergy with the Burgle Rogue archetype that was pushed in Rise of Shadows, thought it'd be pretty neat. Lackeys stealing from your opponent's reserves and giving it to you. Rogue has an abundance of Lackey generators, but I thought of giving that a little spin and give them another purpose.

A Paladin minion inspired by the flavors of Bone Drake and Paladin's abundance of Reborn minions (compared to other classes).

Now that's just epic.

"Give an enemy minion -3 Attack this turn. If you're holding a Dragon, add a Lackey to your hand."

You've got to prove you're the real deal, because Lackeys don't like weaklings.

I made it five mana to avoid the OTK combo of Dinotamer Brann and figured it was too cheap at 4. This card is meant to either trigger good battlecries multiple times or maybe try again with battlecries that have random effects

I just wanted to use this art for a card, I love it a lot.

Battlecry: Replace all Lackeys in your hand with friendly minions that have died this game.

I originally designed Scream Queller for an expansion I made last year but saw this week's theme and immediately thought of this guy once again.

Scream Queller is my take on a Priest Lackey support card, like EVIL Recruiter for Warlock or Weaponized Wasp for Shaman. But since Priests aren't generally the most tempo-oriented class Scream Queller turns your Lackeys into raw value.

How could a Sidequest for one of the EVIL classes could look like.

Following the new direction a rogue could go in, together with [Hearthstone Card (Waxadread) Not Found] and Candle Breath, another card that could support dragon synergy in rogue. You might think that playing only 4 dragons is a small requirement, but outside of Waxadred, all dragons rogue has access to are neutral ones (for now), which means you are not playing more than 1 per turn, if that.

Mummify your favorite little beasts! Maybe a nice or Swamp Leech?

Hi everyone! This card was designed having a control deck in mind. I tried to keep Reno's flavor by giving random spells but at the same time keeping his impact on the table under control. First i though on Deck of Wonders adding a kind of scroll that cast when you draw it, but i'm really tired of that level of RNG, so i change the effect. 

The spell could power creep the Cabalist's Tome but it certainly happens with every mage spell generators of the year of the dragon, so i really didn't care of that. 

I still want to see more Rogue secrets.  And this seemed like an opportunity for a flavorful way to interact with the reborn mechanic.  This is cheaper than other forms of removal since it only works on Reborn minions.

Although this card is comparable to Warrior's Molten Breath, I feel that it thematically and functionally has a place in the Paladin class. At (4) mana it could be considered cheap, but I wanted the card to be strong as it represents the life-binding powers of the dragon queen. Furthermore, without a Dragon in hand, the effect is relatively weak - a measly 5 Health is nothing in today's meta, especially considering Paladin has access to cards like Amber Watcher. Although it is potentially 10 damage for (8), I believe that the speed of today's meta, coupled with the unpopularity of a Dragon Pally build, make this combo unlikely to be used as you would need to already be ahead in order to confidently play it; Aggro/Mech Paladin can usually seal the game before turn 8 as well.
